Everything is incredibly hazy but I can still see the guy's face. No, I know who he is, but I pray that I'm wrong. Demi is yelling, well she's whisper yelling at someone.
"Yes I'm fucking sure!"
"C-Calm down... I'm not saying you're wr-"
"I thought we made sho' to move everyone away from 'ere!"
"Well, not everyone there was her same age. There's nothing saying that they couldn't come ba-"
"Do you kno' what 'appened when she saw 'em Mitch?"
"N-No..."
"A mag 5 earthquake... it wasn't as strong if you 'eren't next to her but it still knocked out a few power lines."
"B-But how!"
"You & I both kno' she's... she's not-"
"Demitree, she's still just a kid."
"No, she ain't! Not like any other kid! Luna's... she's-"
"It's ok."
They flinch when I sit up. "You can say it. I'm not human... just like they thought. We all knew this." Demi got nervous, growing uncomfortable; Sargent Mitchel smiled at me, hair getting grey up top. He's got on a grey shirt & jeans as he comes in for a hug. "Hey kiddo. You ok? Been out for like... a day..." I shrugged, hugging my knees close to me; he backs off instantly. "How'd you know I was here...?" he smiled, waving his phone at me. "Malcolm texted me." I nodded slowly. "D-Demi... t-that guy, where-" she lets out a forced cough. "Fogetem." she hisses, her grammar becoming broken. She grew up in a rough neighborhood, so her grammar was naturally pretty bad; she said that she slips back on it when she's too emotional. Only a few people have heard her talk like that besides family; Sargent Mitchel was one of them. I give her a worried look as I feel her anger & fear welling up. "Demi, it's important. I-" "'Eah, I fuckin' kno' a'ite? Damn, let eet go al'eady. I 'ont need ta hear no mo'." I sighed a bit. "S-Sorry. I ain't mean it." she says. "I... I gotta walk. Chill myself out." she storms out as Sargent Mitchel sighs heavily. "She's a bit-" "Pissed?" he sighed once again. "Agitated... I was gonna say agitated. Now... you wanna tell me what the hell is going on?" I shrugged. "Ok, ok, fine. I can drop it. So... do anything fun today?" I nodded.
"Y-Yeah. I went to lunch with a guy from school-"
"Oooooh~"
"& his sister."
"Less oooooh."
"Stop, it wasn't like that."
"Do I got to run a check on him?"
"Isn't that illegal?"
"Yes..."
"Oh my God."
"What's his name?"
I winced. "C-Crow... Case..." he stared at me. "W-WHA-what!?! Crow Case, are you serious!?!" he says; I cast my eyes downward. "It's for a school project... 's all it is, I swear." He messed up my hair, smiling. "I know... just be careful around that guy. He's a bit of a trouble maker... alright?" within a few hours, I was released from the hospital; Demi was driving to get some food in silence, still angry. I could tell what she was thinking.
"Don't."
"Don't what?"
"Don't find Charlie."
"It was Charlie!?!"
"Shit..."
"W-Why-why didn't you tell me!?!"
"Y-You got all mad & huffy!"
"That has never stopped you before!"
"Then you left the room."
She let out a heavy sigh. "Why shouldn't I find him?" I looked to the floor of the car. "I-I don't know... finding him might make him remember some things. Things that I wasn't able to erase." I could feel her looking at me. "He'll remember that I was a Goddess to them & of course this all happens just as I start to pin down what kind of t-thing I am using their no-" making a wild U-Turn, she speeds off. "W-Where-" "Station. Now."
I was sitting in an interrogation room as Demi fiddled with the camera. "You don't have to-" "Yes I do." I was never sure what she did with those cameras, but she always did something to them. Demi, Kelsie, Mitchel & Malcolm. The boys were standing on the other side of the two way mirror. "Ok, so talk." I shrugged. "W-Well, I'm not 100% on this but... I think I know what I really am..." silence until I continued. "When I erased their memories, i-it wasn't total erasure. M-More like... modification. I-It wasn't even erasure... but I got something to tell you all." I let out a hesitant sigh. "I saw a former member." Mitchel, surprisingly, slammed his hands on the table as Demi started mumbling 'oh my god' over & over. "Why the fuck would you do that!?!" He yells at seemingly the room; Kelsie goes quiet however. Demi begins yelling at me. "Like come one Luna, you're smarter than-" Tears begin to fill my eyes as she sighs heavily. "Look, I get it... ok? But still you could've just-" "It was me... I gave her the info. I didn't realize it until it was too late." Kelsie mumbled. She's wearing a off the shoulder plum top with a black lace trim & daisy dukes with thigh high stockings that have red bows on them. Her makeup is black lipstick & dark purple eye shadow; her hair is very curly & black, which is odd. Normally she has some bright color in but not this time. She's in her 30's but looks like she'd 21; it's perfect for an undercover cop. She's usually louder, until she gets nervous. "I-It was an open file that had to do with my case... I-I had no idea this kid was related." she murmers. "You what!?!" Demi growls, sizing up to Kelsie, who was wearing 5 inch heels. "Step off Demitree. I'm not in the mood." Mitchel sighed. "OK, so what happened?" I sighed.
"I pretended to be Kelsie... her name was Jacq & I would draw with her a lot... u-um, she had said that she found a bunch of old books about me & let me see them..."
"Where are the books?"
"Why...?"
"Luna Charlotte."
"Demitree Holdender."
"Ok, let's just-"
As the two of them bicker, I glance towards the door. Someone is on the other side of it; I can hear officers trying to get the person to move. "C'mon kid, move alon-" singing? Who was singing in a police station? I couldn't help but sing back, confused. "Luna? Luna what're you-" I touched the door finding myself humming along. I hadn't heard this lullaby since the cult when Mother would sing it to me. How... how did they know it? "What's happening? Mitchel, Malcolm, help!" I pressed my hand against the door & all the lights shot off. There was a huge crash & I felt a hand grab my own; people were yelling but I couldn't stop singing. The hand was much larger than mine, but soft. It was probably male, but the voice of the other person was shifting. There was a loud crack & the lights slowly flickered to life; who ever I was holding hands with was gone.
As we finally arrived home, there was a familiar figure pacing outside the front door. "Who in the-oh no." Demi nearly lept out of the car to rush at Crow pacing around. "Oh hell no, I'm out!" he says, trying to leave. "Oh hell no. What the hell are you doing here?" I get out of the car, as Crow gives me a relieved expression. "I've been texting you, you good? A... family friend saw you at the station." I nodded. "Y-Yeah. Crow, this is my mom. Mom this is Cr-" "Oh, I'm aware." there's a thick tension between the two, but it feels a bit odd... she wasn't upset when I said that I was going to study. "C-Crow was the one I got the-" she sighs. "You come here for a reason?" Crow scoffs. "Can't check on a friend?" Friend? Me? "S-Seriously?" I received two confused stares. "Yeah... that a problem?" I shook my head. "Anyway, these are some notes from school for the other day. See you tomorrow... oh! Got you this too." he hands me a small keychain of a chimera; it looks handmade & is really cute. "T-Thanks! I'll put it on my bag right now!" I ran inside without thinking as Demi slowly followed. "Do you seriously trust him? He-He's a thug! now listen I know that you want to give everyone a chance but-" "I trust him. If I remembered him then why... why on Gods green earth would I willingly hang out with him!?! Come on Demi, I am not that stupid! Why can't you trust me!?!" she scoffs. "Me? You are the one who willingly went & saw a past member! & you question why I don't trust you're judgement!?! You are so naïve! Just because you didn't grow up normally-" "JUST STOP IT DEMITREE!" she freezes, mouth hanging open as her voice is halted. "No... no, no, no, no, speak. Demi I am so sorry I-" she walks off. "Be careful Charlotte."
