-Sonia introduction! And with that we finally have our main four all introduced in the comic, hurray! Sonia's one of my favourite SwSh characters and I'm so happy I get to draw and write her now
-Does anyone else think it's funny that the Pokedex is now just an app you download onto your Rotomphone? It makes sense in the games context, but it's still just so funny to me for some reason.
-Recommendations are a nifty tool that the League has introduced to help garner more participants into the Gym Challenge. Basically someone experienced in the field but not necessarily a part of the League (for example, an Ace Trainer or a former Gym Challenge participant) can vouch for a new participant and the League board can give them an endorsement to join, or to help prove a potential endorsement is up to the challenge. This is basically for any trainers who don't have the, ahem, power of nepotism on their side (because lbr, that's the main reason you and your rivals get endorsed in the game. We'll come back to this later!)
-And our third party member! Yeah, I was shocked when I caught a Hoothoot, too. Didn't even know they were on Route 2, to be completely honest. I was initially a little disappointed - Hoothoot/Noctowl are awesome, don't get me wrong, but I use them all the time in HGSS, and on the route with new Pokemon like Rookidee, Yamper, and Chewtle, I was hoping to use a new Pokemon. But hey! Laurie's name isn't based on anything in particular, just sort of a spur of the moment decision.
