It was a typical sports bar with flat screen TV's everywhere playing any and every game that was on at the time. High top tables scattered in a pattern about the floor. Bar top running along the left wall. Women walking around in little black cheeky shorts with low cut jersey shirts that represent the sport or team they claimed to like the most.
Marking a table off to the back of the place as theirs so Smith had a good view of the hockey game. Devin found himself smashed between Hunter and Smith. Devin felt Hunter's knee bump then rest against his own under the table. Devin waited for him to move away for a moment before doing it himself. Hunter smirked at the gesture. It was just his knee telling himself this was going to be a fun ride for him.
If asked Hunter wouldn't shy away from the answer he thought Devin was hot, plain and simple. Hunter has always been the type that liked what he liked and nine times out of ten got what he liked.
"What can I get you boys?" Asked the waitress over the loud chatter, wearing a LaKings jersey which quickly got Smith's attention.
It was his favorite team.
"Can we get four shots of Tequila and keep them coming." Spoke Hunter, smiling at the women.
"Three and a water." Budded in Devin.
Even the women gave Devin a look like he couldn't be serious. Hunter exchanges a look with Smith wondering how he called him his brother but didn't drink. That just didn't sit right in his book.
"So we don't like to let loose huh?" Asked Hunter, looking at Devin.
"It's not that I just don't like myself when I drink."
His emotions always ran high and his mind forgets to control itself, feeling that his life was already out of control as it was he didn't like to add to it.
"You just haven't gotten fucked up enough to make it fun." Davey spoke.
"I second him." Agreed Hunter.
Devin looked at Smith for help but he just shrugged his shoulders and agreed with them before turning around and checking out the waitress's ass as she walked off.
"Looks like you're outnumbered." Smiled Hunter.
Once the waitress returned he saw she wasn't on his side either and brought four shots along with the glass of water he asked for.
"Just in case you change your mind." She spoke winking at him.
Placing the shot in front of him. Thinking if he just gave into the one maybe they would leave him alone for the rest of the night. Picking his shot up, tossing it back with the rest of them.
Shaking his head as it burned his throat going down. Hunter was no longer phased by the burn it caused, but found it cute how Devin's nose scrunched up while he tossed it back. Catching the waitress as she walked back by signaling another round for them. Yeah he was going to get plastered tonight.
"So what brings you to the US again?" Asked Devin who missed the earlier conversation between them.
"Money and fame, what else! Well work actually got a potential signing with a label here so makes sense to be here. Nothing major really."
"Major is an understatement." Spoke Smith.
"It's just for an EP right now. Vamped up versions of what I've been singing in the UK."
"They want four complete songs, three of which will make the EP cut and once it's released it will do fucking great and then when the numbers are right they'll sign on for a full album." Finished Davey.
Devin was impressed even for not having heard of the man before it wasn't something little he was talking about. This was a major opportunity he had before him. Hunter didn't care to come off like he was bragging, though making it big was his dream and right now this looked to be his big break if it all worked out that is.
"Tonight isn't about Black Souls and its future but having a good time with old friends and new." Stated Hunter as the next round of shots showed up.
"To good times!" Spoke Smith lifting his glass.
His elbow nudging Devin to join in with them again, toasting to it before tossing the shot back. Once again shaking his head at the burn, waving his hand over his empty shot glass that he was done.
"Nah, gotta keep it going." Spoke Davey waving for another round to the table.
That's how the next hour or so went, shot after shot. Devin called it quits after each one, yet he took the next one that showed up in front of him. This was the part he didn't like about drinking because he didn't stop once he started. By the fifth one he was feeling light headed and knew he would have jello legs when he stood up.
Drinking the water she bought him only made him need to use the restroom more. The guys moved onto beer having their fill of shots chatting about the past and what was to come. Devin learning that Hunter and Smith went way back, Hunter had moved away do to his father's job then moved out as soon as he turned eighteen moving to the UK on his own wanting to just get out and away from everything.
Since then he's made a pretty big name for himself and his band in the UK mostly in Germany. It was safe to say that Hunter didn't care for the family he was born into. They didn't understand him or ever try to begin too for that matter. Personally feeling they would be happier once he was gone so he left and hasn't looked back since.
Being on his own wasn't easy at first but over time he's learned to accept being alone in that sense, some of that time was filled with others but nothing was ever serious and stayed. He didn't go into deep detail to some of the questions finding them to be on a personal side of things he wasn't ready to share so just skimmed over them for now. Smith knew most of his story anyway, at least all the points that mattered.
"I gotta break the seal." Stated Devin as he slid from his bar stool almost falling into Hunter lap in the process.
Hunter quickly turned catching Devin, steadying him on his feet before letting go.
"You good man?" Asked Hunter.
Devin didn't say anything just nodded. He was going to feel like shit in the morning and hate all of them for making him drink but right now he was feeling pretty good.
His body had this warm fuzzy feeling all over, legs were jello like he figured but that was fine they still worked for the most part. His hand ran along the wall to the back where the bathroom was holding him steady. He was such a lightweight. His eyes were starting to make things shift back and forth as he stood there washing his hands in the sink, thinking too much for him being DD tonight.
Leaving the restroom he felt someone grip his arm pulling him back against the wall on the other side of the door in one swift movement. Hunter's eyes caught Devin's gaze as he pinned him to the wall, a smile on his face.
"The fuck Hunter." Spoke Devin, his eyes seeing two of him.
The movement was too quick for him causing his head to spin even faster. Hands went to push Hunter off him but was quickly pushed back. Hunter clearly was able to handle his liquor better than him.
"Will you get off of me already." Demanded Devin more this time raising his voice.
Hunter didn't move; he just looked at Devin, letting his forefinger tilt up Devin's chin bringing him closer to his own lips. Gently he kissed Devin feeling his body stutter under him, letting the shock sink in before pressing his lips to Devin's again.
His head was spinning enough as it was, feeling shock take over his body as Hunter kissed him not sure what he should do. Fighting the urge to give into the kiss like he wanted. Devin didn't react till the third time Hunter kissed him, leaning into the touch enjoying it as he pressed his own lips harder to his, kissing him back.
That was all Hunter wanted, to confirm what he already knew about Devin. From the moment he saw Devin he could see the battle he was fighting within himself. It wasn’t something hard to miss at all for him; having a sixth sense for things like that. It was the same battle he saw in many before him, the same one he personally won years ago himself.
