Mr. King finally makes it to the back row and theres only one more person left before SHE goes. The girl I can’t seem to stop staring at. The girl before her explains that her name is Rosa, she likes to read, and is also a senior. At last it’s HER turn, “my name is moonlight, I like to paint and be outdoors, and I’m a senior.” My eyes focused on her the whole time she was talking; she had a soft voice that sounded kind and sweet. Each time she spoke my head spun, a feeling came over me wanting to know more about her, no needing to know about her. “Moonlight…. just who are you?”
The rest of the class shares with everyone, but I’m not listening. I continue to slightly glance at Moonlight trying not to be noticeable. After everyone is done sharing the teacher shares a few things about himself and what we will be working on this year. As I continue to study Moonlight, I notice that a lot of people seem to know and talk to her, but the person she seems to talk to the most is the girl next to her, Rosa. I’m puzzled, you wouldn’t think they would be friends at first glance. Moonlight seems kind and approachable while Rosa looks like if you talk to her, she’ll rip your head off. Moonlight is the complete opposite of me as well, I don’t like talking to people, meeting new people, and I’m often alone most of the time. So why am so drawn to her?
“RING RING” the ringing of the bell signifies the end of first period. I look up at the clock surprised by the time. I grab my bag from off the floor and look back at Moonlight one last time to see if I can finally get a good look at her face. When I turn to look back at her she’s facing towards me talking to Rosa, and I can finally see what she fully looks like. She doesn’t seem very tall probably around 5’2, she has a nice full body with a soft round face, and light skin. Her smile lights up the room and her eyes seem to almost glow. At times her eye color changes depending on the light and looks green then brown, and almost dark blue with green, their mesmerizing. She faces up and looks straight at me, but quickly turns away and rushes out the door. Rosa follows her and soon after I leave too.
The rest of the day was normal I didn’t have any other classes with Moonlight not even lunch. I was disappointed, I thought at least I would have lunch with her but when I got to the cafeteria she was no where to be found. Throughout the whole entire day I couldn’t get her out of my mind she was all I could think about, and I just didn’t know why.
After school I head to the elementary school to pick up my brother. When I arrived at my brothers elementary school, I wait on the side walk looking for Felipe. After a few minutes of waiting the kids come rushing out the door smiles on all their faces, and I finally see Felipe. He’s talking to two other boys, with a smile on his face. “Felipe” I shout trying to get his attention. He turns and looks towards me he then waves bye to the boys, who I assume are his new friends. Felipe then runs towards me, I nell down to give him a hug and he jumps in my arms. I release him from the hug and we begin to walk home. “How was your first day of school?” I ask Felipe as we walk, “it was great I made two new friends, they both played with me at rescues.” “Really that’s great, so you had fun” “yep, we even got to swing on the swings and I went really high up, it was awesome.” I chuckle “that’s good buddy I’m glade you had fun.” Seeing my little brother happy puts a smile on my face. “THUMP THUMP” my heart starts pounding and I feel as though someone is watching me. I stop walking and instinctively look at the house to the right of us. There’s a big Tudor house, and behind it are the woods. My eyes head for a window on the second floor in the left corner, but I don’t see anything in the window. “that’s weird I could have sworn-” “you okay big brother?” Felipe asks, “oh yeah everything’s fine let’s head home.”
