Devin ended up calling out of work the next day lying saying he caught some twenty four hour bug. To upset with himself to show his face to anyone.
Spending the day shunning himself more that he normally would. Pissed that he allowed himself to even let the thought that Hunter might like him cross his mind. It was clear to see that Hunter just came by to use him for sex. To put things right in his life again to make his recording time go better than it had been.
Ignoring his phone for most of the day not that he expected anything from Hunter seeing as how he left pissed off himself as well last night. Receiving another text from Tink about his brother being released tomorrow from prison asking him to come to the party they were having for him. He didn't see why she kept bothering him about his brother. She knew that they were dead to each other. Well that's how Devin saw it at least.
"I'm glad you're feeling better." Smiled Sunshine as she rubbed Devin on the back, making her way to her room to sit her things down.
Devin sat at his usual seat at work the day started off normal, Smith with back to backs all day, Davey coming in at one for his two appointments. Johnny Boy not coming in because he was off for the week. Devin worked in the few walk-ins that came through keeping himself busy. Sunshine taking the seat next to him in her free time chatting with him. Mostly about Hunter and their night out again for the second time.
"He's super sweet and kind. You know he actually listens to me when I talk. Not like most guys who just nod and act like they are."
Devin nodded too pissed to talk.
"Like you're doing now." She laughed, "He just seems to already know what I'm thinking or feeling. He's definitely something special."
Her cheeks blushing at the thought, blonde hair bouncing around her face as she smiled. Devin knowing his face tightened up again in anger as she spoke of him, and how amazing he is.
She could see the distaste on his face asking if he was going to be sick again. Excusing himself outside for some fresh air. Lighting up a cigarette trying to calm himself.
Part of him wanted to blow up at her and be like 'well I had sex with him the other night so he clearly doesn't thing as highly of you as you do of him', like that would solve something or make his life any easier. Devin clearly liked Hunter even though he didn't want to admit it to himself or anyone.
The day went on Sunshine leaving him be for the rest of it. Mostly afraid that she might catch what he had, though he was never sick to begin with. Returning from his second smoke break for the day seeing that Hunter had come in while he was out even sitting in his seat with his booted feet propped up on the counter like he owned the place.
Hunter made eye contact as Devin walked in wondering if he was still pissed about the other night. Davey and Sunshine had gone out for dinner promising to bring something back with them. Smith worked on cleaning off his station for his next client. Devin snatched up the clipboard from under Hunter's legs telling him he was in fact still pissed off.
"I'm doing my final check. If you want it ordered you better let me know." Spoke Devin ignoring Hunter as he walked over to the storage room.
Hoping by the time that he was finished checking everything off Hunter would have left. Slowly making his way down the list as he heard Smith and Hunter's mumbled voices through the door. Not wanting to be nosy but also having the feeling they were talking about him. His ears actually becoming hot turning as he heard the door open behind him, it was Hunter.
"Employee's only are allowed back here."
"Does it look like I care?" Spoke Hunter leaning against the door as he closed it shut behind him. "You know ignoring me is only a turn on."
Yeah Hunter knew it was a little twisted but so was he. Devin was turning out to be more of a challenge than he expected him to be.
"Hunter just go before Smith thinks something's up." Demanded Devin turning his back to Hunter.
Hunter knew Smith was on the phone and honestly he personally didn't care if he thought something was up.
"I assume you're still mad about nothing."
"It's not nothing you used me in hopes of bettering yourself." Devin snapped turning around to face him, "I hope it worked out for you. Maybe Axel noticed a difference."
Devin really hurt by Hunter, "I also see that you and Sunshine had a good time the other night. She's just over the moon about you, couldn't shut up about it today."
The words were just spewing out of his mouth like vomit, knowing where it was all coming from but didn't want Hunter to hear all of it. No one needed to hear it.
Hunter let out a long sigh, uncrossing his arms from his chest as he moved over to Devin.
"Shut up for a moment."
"Don't tell me to shut - - " Hunter pulled Devin to him quickly, placing a hard kiss on his lips.
Devin pushed at Hunter to get off but he wasn't backing up, kissing him again feeling himself give into the kiss.
"Better?" Smiled Hunter, "I haven't used you what I said the other night was just stupid on my part. Trust me. If I just wanted sex I could have gotten it."
That didn't make Devin feel any better about the situation.
"I wanted to be with you Devin, I like you."
"Stop lying. I'm tired of people lying to me."
"I'm not lying, Devin." Lifting his chin up forcing his gaze. Trying to get him to believe that he was telling the truth.
"Then why are you dating Sunshine?"
"We went out a few times as friends."
"Well she sure as hell seems to think you're just so amazing. Like no other and wants you."
This caused Hunter to smile, "Are you jealous?"
"Jealous you wish! Just tired of being strung along with all your games and seeing that you are doing the same to Sunshine is just fucked up."
Devin partly lied he was jealous that he seemed to be spending just as much time with Sunshine as he was with him.
"I can tell when you're lying Devin."
"Fuck off Hunter. I'm done playing with you."
Straightening his face up showing that he was serious looking at Devin, "I'm not done with you Devin."
Leaning in towards him again pressing his lips against his softly. Pulling the clipboard from his hand laying it back on the shelf behind him.
"Nowhere near done."
Tongue deepening the kiss, hands resting on Devin's hips pulling him close. It only pissed him off more that Hunter had this draw over him, getting him to do as he wanted. Quickly falling under his little spell kissing Hunter back his hand cupping the side of his face. Devin hated that he could be pissed at him while wanting him at the same time.
Hunter taking a step forward pushing Devin against the shelving behind him letting his grip tighten, hearing Devin moan lightly under the kiss. He knew he had him now smiling under the kiss at the fact. Being so drawn into Hunter, Devin momentarily forgot that he was in fact at work till Smith opened the door with a list in his hand.
"I need this shit on the order for next week."
Devin froze solid in place, all his color flushing from his face, hands dropping from Hunter. Brain wracking around for something to say but drew nothing but a blank. Body wanting to move away but had nowhere to go. Hunter had him pinned and he wasn't about to move away. Silver eyes looking over his shoulder to Smith.
None of which seemed to phase Smith at all as he stood there with his list in hand, eyes glancing back down to run it over again. Devin felt his face grow hot with embarrassment and anger. Smith looked up from the paper finally noticing the position between two of them. A smile pulling at the corners of his lips. An expression that threw Devin off completely, glancing back at Hunter quickly then back to Smith.
"You know the rules no fucking on my clock." Smith spoke before motioning to the paper in his hand, "You know I'll just sit it on the desk for you."
Hunter didn't move the entire time Smith was there only stumbling back after he left because Devin shoved the shit out of him.
"Damn Devin!" Exclaimed Hunter as he regained his footing, "The fuck was that for?"
Smith just saw them together and he smiled he fucking smiled about it. Devin couldn't take Smith knowing about him. It was just too much. Smith knowing means Davey will know then the whole world will know.
The heavy panic that was setting in was easily seen on his face. Hunter tilting his head to the side looking at Devin as he paced in the small room. Hunter wanted to reach out to Devin but held himself back thinking touching him again would really have him go off.
"Smith doesn't care if you're gay Devin."
"I'm not gay." He lied, tone harsh and louder than he meant it to be.
That was still something he couldn't admit to himself yet. So having Smith know just turned everything upside down for him. Hunters' look hardened on Devin, like he was really going to stand here and deny it after everything.
"I can't." Gasped Devin clutching his chest as he stormed out of the storage room.
Pushing past Hunter as he grabbed out for him not wanting him to run again. Smith turned around in his chair as he heard the commotion. Devin stormed straight out the front door not looking back as he felt his world close in around him, darkening.
"He just needs time." Spoke Smith looking over at Hunter.
"How much?" He asked, hurt.
"With Devin who knows. Probably longer than you're willing to wait if I'm being honest. He's been through so much shit in his life. Sure as hell more than he lets me know. So finding a sense of control over the little pieces he has left of himself just got blown to shit."
Smith did feel bad in the moment, but he knew it was something that needed to happen. He's seen that demon slowly picking away at Devin for a long time. Slowly consuming him.
He would like to think that Devin would know by now that he wasn't like his older brother or father. Smith fully accepted him for who he was. Being gay wasn't something he should be ashamed of or allow to bring him down in any manner. Really wishing he would just accept it, accept himself.
