Jue slowly closed Luna's door behind him. He'd finally gotten her to stop crying and fall asleep. Jue sighed and walked to his study; he opened the door to find Flue sitting at his desk playing with his writing tools.
"Flue, what are you doing here? In my study of all places? You know I like my study to be for only me; no one else is supposed to be in here." Jue said sharply.
Flue glared at Jue. "I can smell her all over you. What, did you guys already screw? Planning to make some werewolf/vampire babies? Huh?"
Jue wasn't sure what to say at first, he just stared at her with his mouth dropped.
"Flue, what is your problem? This is for my people, you, and I can't help it if I somehow develop feelings for her. She is kind and she is not like other werewolves."
Flue stared at him opened her mouth like she was going to say something then closed it.
"You keep saying you are doing this for your people. Your people never asked of it. Your people are perfectly fine the way they are. Hell! A lot of them like the whole feuding idea it gives them purpose or a sense of adventure. You just want to take that away?"
Flue took a deep breath, her face turning red, "And…. AND you just met this broad, how can you have ANY feelings for her?!" She shouted.
Jue could only stare. He first opened his mouth to yell at her, but before he could, he stopped himself. He took a deep calming breath and turned his back on her.
"Flue…" he said softly.
Flue suddenly sat straight up. It was the tone. The tone that she didn't hear very often. It was the, "Shut up and listen to me, before I start screaming at you" tone.
"Flue…" he said again, then turns and was in her face in a second. "If only you were put in this situation you'd be able to see. You have never seen all the injured vampires who come in day in and day out through his castle. You never see them because I never let you."
He spoke so softly Flue could only stare at him with uncertainty. She wasn't sure if he was going to lash out. He had only done it once when they were very young and he didn't have the best control over his emotions.
"You have lost much to the werewolves, but you don't see what the feud is doing to this nation. The only things you see are the happenings around you."
He put both his hands on the armrest causing him to get nose to nose with her. "Next time you want to say something you know nothing about think again. This is my decision and I'm sticking to it. Besides you have no idea who Luna is and if you knew then maybe you'd understand why I care for her."
He looked her dead in the eyes, enough for Flue to see the anger swirling around. He said in an even softer tone, "If you ever call Luna names again, I will have you removed from this household. She is to be my wife and you need to respect that."
He pushed off the chair and turned away from Flue again. "Now get out of my study before I make you and not in a friendly way. GO!"
He heard the door open and close; and only then did he allow himself to let go. Soon his writing materials were littered across the floor. The ink from his ink bottle staining the carpet. His quills broken and one stuck out of the wall. He was still pounding his fists into his already broken desk when he realized that his hand was bleeding. Which caused him to pause so hard he tripped and fell into the rubble of his writing chair. He laid there, breathing heavily.
He realized looking up at his ceiling that today, had gotten the best of him. Seeing Luna's parents, the way Nel acted with Shile. What looks like a final good-bye between Luna and her mother… He couldn't but be thankful that he wasn't leaving his family. It made him feel guilty. It made him want to take care of Luna even more.
He quietly and quickly made a vow, that no matter what, even if they didn't fall in love with each other… Luna was going to know what it meant to have a family that really loved and cared for her.
He also realized that his anger, wasn't just part of the unfairness of Luna… but he hated that someone so close to him like Flue could not understand what he was doing. Especially Flue of all people. It wasn't like it she meant to be rude and spiteful, it was just how she was brought up. But still, you would think someone who was orphaned because of this feud, would want it to end.
"But then again," he thought… "Having your parents killed by werewolves, could make you turn out so different… so bitter…. That you'd never want a fight to end so that it gives you a reason to get your revenge."
Flue pressed herself against the door with a hand over her chest trying to get her heartbeat to slow as she listens to the rage within the room. She could all, but laugh at herself when she realized what she was doing. She was sitting out his room like a crazy crush, waiting for him to stop being angry and call out for her.
She heard his outrage quiet down after a while. She was curious to see how much of the room he destroyed. There was a time, that she remembered, everything in the room had to be replaced. She remembered that incident. It was after he had found her in the courtyard under a tree. Her face contorted and she rushed the memories away.
"You'd think, after witnessing my parents murder, that nothing worse could happen to me. You're wrong." She thought to herself. "I don't want to even touch those memories."
It upset her though, that after all these years… some little girl can come in here and cry her heart out and it upsets Jue, just as much as what happened to her that day. Nothing should upset him more than that incident. She was never the same after that. She hated everything and nothing could heal the screaming void in her soul.
Flue slowly walked down the hall and stopped outside Luna's door, "I will see you soon my werewolf princess."
