People sometimes try to give us "advice" how to "fix" ourselves. They recommend everything from exercise to strange tea's and snake oils, thinking that they are being SO helpful and kind.
...even tho there is nothing kind in shoving unsolicited "advice" down someone's throat when they have 1.) Already tried everything 2.) Have an INCURABLE NEUROLOGICAL SLEEP DISORDER 3.) AND HAVE BEEN TESTED FOR EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN TO GET THAT DIAGNOSIS IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Incurable, as in, CANNOT BE CURED WITH ANYTHING CURRENTLY KNOWN TO MAN. Not essential oils, cleanses, wraps, diet, pills, loosing weight, doing yoga like it was their religion, keeping up sleep rythm...nothing makes IH better beyond the things medical professionals can recommend at this point in time before any medications have been properly tested and approved for us to use.
I know I am preaching to the choir here of this. We all have met these people, and some of us even live with them...and to that all I can say is: If they refuse to be educated about that the fuck Idiopathic means - (in my opinion) they don't deserve to be in your life for those precious hours you may have.
And if someone is reading this and feels quilt in their gut, realizing right now that you have been doing this...good news is that you can stop doing it.
There is no cure you can offer.
But you can help us do the dishes and make the bed. You can nap with us and help us when we are cognitively impared. You can listen and let us cry to your shoulder when sleepiness gets so painful even tho we just got up...love us. Unconditionally. Throughly.
We are often so alone...but if you remember these tips, we wouldn't need to be.
If you feel lonely now, fellow sleepy head, I got you. You are not alone. There is a community for you our there, here, everywhere...they just may be taking a nap right now.
