Chapter Eleven
Beginning.
My vision returns and I’m standing in the clearing, but it’s restored except part of the base was still missing. I turn to the crypt seeing it is now fully restored as well. Again, it calls to me, but this time I feel no fear. It’s almost welcoming. I walk into the crypt once more. It is not cold or damp as before. It instead feels welcoming like walking into warm house in the middle of winter. I reach the bottom of the stairs and the doorway is already open. Inanis is back in the center of his spherical cage. He turns to me and extends a hand. Offering me to come into his cage. “Don’t worry my son this cage was built only for me. You will not be trapped within and I cannot use you to get out.” Although I’m still a bit unsure I step forward into the cage. To my surprise, I do not fall. It is strange to walk on air or is there even air in here. I get the physical movements of breathing, but I’m not sure there is air entering my lungs. A few more steps and I realize my feet don’t hit anything. They simply stop falling. There is no sound except for when Inanis speaks. “I understand the difficulty you have comprehending my prison. It was made for far more than you are. It is only through me that you haven’t gone mad from it.” I try to speak, but no sound passes my lips. “There is nothing in here that you or your words were built to travel on.” I reach him and he shifts his hand to place his palm on my forehead. I flinch expecting the pain from the last time he touched me, but none comes. I instead feel calm wash over me and more so I feel a profound peace. “Do you see my prophet? That I bring more then mere pain?” I nod my head. “Good. Then spread word of me. Do this and you and all who follow you shall know this peace.” With that he removes his hand and the peace leaves me. I feel tears, but they do not roll down my cheeks. They instead float away as if I were in space. “Go now. I have already given you all that you need to succeed. Kill all those who try to stop you.” I look up, but to my eyes the room is pulled away from me and only stops when I’m outside the doorway. A smile crosses my face and I turn and leave.
I step outside the crypt and more than a dozen guards have their rifles trained on me. “When will they learn.” I chuckle walking towards them, but stop when I hear Inanis speak. “You only have to speak my prophet. It need only be a few words. They will be imbued with my power.” I extend my hands outward in a welcoming manner. The air trembles and crackles with electricity. A feeling of eagerness settles on the clearing as if it itself is awaiting my words. I see roughly half of the guards become uneasy readjusting their stance. I sense their vulnerability and that they are pliable. I direct my words towards them as if I were speaking directly into their ears. “Inanis calls for you to follow me. To serve in his name. To take my word as his. You’ve all seen his power through me.” I can feel them submit like invisible tethers attaching themselves to my will. I know they can feel it to. When this stops I only need to think my orders. “Kill those that didn’t convert.” With that thought half the soldiers turn and kill the others. It’s so fast that I receive no casualties. The guards who are now my followers kneel. I look to the horizon. “Well let us begin.”
