Izumi stepped into the cave he was locked in and laid Hiroki and Yeong down on the floor.
“Izumi I’ll tend to Hiroki.” Cuojue said
“Ok.” Izumi said
Izumi looked at Yeong wounds and covered them with the inner layers of his tunic. What he learned with Hisao he stopped the blood from Yeong’s leg.
“Ahh!” Yeong screamed as Izumi put pressure on his leg.
Izumi let go and jumped a little.
“I’m sorry” Izumi responded slowly.
Yeong laid down, his eyes slightly open and looking at Izumi. Izumi tended to his wounds and wrapped them like he himself did for Izumi.
Cuojue tended to Hiroki’s wound and slept near him for warmth. Izumi laid next to Yeong and fell fast asleep.
“Izumi are you awake?” Yeong whispered.
But all Yeong could hear was the sounds outside of the cave.
“The truth is…” Yeong started “ I wanted to protect you from the beast. But I guess I couldn’t.”
Yeong turned his head towards Izumi and saw his necklace that he gave him months ago.
The shape and everything was so clear to his eyes, it shimmered in his eyes making a glow.
“Izumi…?” Yeong said quietly.
The necklace shined brighter and brighter then he saw his own necklace shine as well. Yeong pulled his necklace away but the force was too strong. The necklaces sealed together shut. Yeong tried to unhook the necklaces but couldn’t. It wouldn’t budge so Yeong got up and pulled as hard as he could on the necklaces. He was on top of Izumi pulling as hard as possible and after pulling he fell. He landed right on top of Izumi, waking him up.
“Yeo…” Izumi said, holding Yeong’s shoulders.
“I was trying to….” Yeong said looking at the position he was in.
Izumi looked away from Yeong, he blushed. Izumi couldn’t hold contact with Yeong. Yeong saw Izumi blushing red and looked away as well, he was the same red as Izumi.
“I’m sorry.” Yeong said trying to get up
Izumi held on to Yeong’s shoulder tighter and looked directly at him. Yeong, surprised, looked at him and held eye contact as long as he could.
“Izu...” Yeong said faintly.
“Our necklaces are stuck...” Izumi said letting go of his grip.
Izumi looked at the necklaces and saw they weren’t tangled, but conjoined.
“It’s not able to pull apart.” Izumi said “it will come undone for some time. For now I’ll take off my side of the necklace.”
Izumi tried to take it off but it became tighter around his neck making it unable to go around his head.
“ it seems it has a mind of its own.” Yeong said, looking at Izumi’s necklace.
Yeong got up holding Izumi up. He woke Hiroki and Cuojue.
“I’ll find some food for us to eat along the way.” Cuojue said, grabbing Hiroki and flying off in the distance.
Looking at the conjoined necklaces Yeong thought it might be the original owner's spirit doing this.
“There must be more to these necklaces than just finding our lover.” Yeong thought. “What if I…”
“Izumi do you know anything about this necklace?” Yeong asked.
“No, I don’t.” Izumi replied.
‘If the necklace conjoin it means your love must be shared with each other, not kept away.’
“Yeong there is something I want to tell you…” Izumi said.
Yeong looked at Izumi, heart beating faster than normal.
“These necklaces... I heard they are like the necklaces used in battle hundreds of years ago. Except they were bound by wrist and not neck.” Izumi said, looking at Yeong.
Yeong remembered all the details given to him when he bought the necklace. Remembering what was needed, Yeong blushed and looked at Izumi with some excitement.
“I think I know a way to undo this but…” Yeong said completely avoiding Izumi’s eyes “it is something that you probably wouldn’t do.”
“I’ll do whatever it takes to get this undone.” Izumi said proudly.
“You’ll have to…” Yeong said pausing when Cuojue and Hiroki came back.
“We brought food!” Hroki said setting up a cooking station.
Izumi lit the fire and Cuojue cleaned the fish.
“Let's go get some berries and fruit Umi,” Yeong said.
“Umi?” Izumi said smiling.
Yeong grabbed Izumi’s hand and flew off in search of berries. Izumi looked and saw something slither below them.
“Yeo…” Izumi said looking.
“Wait.” Yeong said quietly.
Scales moved below them and a noise after. Yeong rose higher and looked where the scales were moving. Though it was foggy, Yeong tried to see past it. No noise came from below and the slithering scales were at halt. It was quiet for a moment and then a head shot from the fog and it got a hold of Izumi’s leg. It pulled Izumi down and also pulled Yeong down.
“Izumi! Hold on.” Yeong said, trying to pull Izumi’s leg out.
Yeong kicked the beast until it gashed its muzzle. The beast retreated and slithered back into the fog leaving Izumi with no wounds.
“Are you ok?” Yeong asked, checking if he had any wounds.
“Yeah.” Izumi said. “I found some berries though.”
Izumi flew in the direction of the berries and carefully grabbed a few and examined them to see if they were poisonous. He knew many types of berries so this one was easy as well. He pulled up a layer of his tunic and picked the berries, placing them into his layer of tunic.
“I believe we’ve gathered enough, let's head back.” Izumi said.
They flew off back to the cave and gave the berries to Cuojue who handled the preparations for their meals. Izumi laid down and so did Yeong. Izumi looked at the necklaces wondering how to put them apart. Yeong knew how but he couldn’t tell him.
“Maybe an herb of some sort will pull them apart.” Izumi said to Yeong.
“Maybe…” Yeong said.
Izumi got up and searched for his ring that Yeong gave him. He brought out the ring and gave it back to Yeong.
“Here this you said I can keep but it looks better on you.” Izumi said placing the ring on Yeong’s finger.
Yeong looked at the ring and he remembered that this ring was the one he placed a tracking spell on. He remembered he had another ring that was on a string. He searched for it in his tunic and ripped off the string attached to the ring and changed the spell placed on it and the shape changed as well.
“This is a gift from me to you. It is a charm for you. It is to protect you from harm.” Yeong said, placing it on Izumi’s finger.
Izumi looked at the ring and it’s pattern and shape. He smiled and thanked Yeong. Cuojue finished making the meal and they quickly went off to Dragon lands.
Hours went by and they had 100 miles to go till they reached the dragon lands. Cuojue found a water hole and took everyone’s water container and filled it. Izumi flew so long his wing cramped a little.
“Guys my wing is getting tired by any chance could we walk for a little bit?” Izumi said
“Yes, we can walk from here.” Hiroki said.
They descended from the sky to the ground and started walking. As five hours went by walking to the lands only fifty more miles to go till then.
Izumi felt something slither up him and saw it was Cuojue transformed into a snake.
“There is a way to undo this necklace.” Cuojue whispered “but it is something you have to hear from Yeong.”
“ how could Yeong know?” Izumi thought.
Izumi looked at Yeong and then the necklace, maybe there was something Yeong wasn’t telling him. Izumi kept wondering for the next hour.
“hey Yeong.” Izumi said, trying to get a hold of his courage.
“Yes?” Yeong replied.
“Do you know a way to unlatch these necklaces?” Izumi asked.
“there is a way but it isn’t something I would be willing to do right now.” Yeong said, looking forward.
Yeong’s heart was beating, hoping Izumi couldn’t see through what he really wanted to do. Izumi thought maybe he had to cut the necklace string.
“You don’t have to…” Izumi said
“Ok”Yeong said
“I’ll do it!” Izumi said immediately after Yeong’s response.
“You… you… you’ll do it!?”Yeong said in surprise.
“Yeah.” Izumi said “Cuojue dagger please.”
Cuojue transformed into a dagger and cut his necklace. The necklace ripped and so did Yeong’s.
“It worked!?” Yeong thought
The necklace floated to Yeong and Izumi’s hand and sealed itself on their wrists.
“Well at least we aren’t having a hard time, much anymore.” Izumi said, pulling his wrist up.
Yeong thought Izumi was right so they just walked. Izumi’s hand kept hitting against Yeong’s hand. Yeong looked but kept walking. Remembering what Yeong packed he remembered that he brought a book. A book about the Dragon lands. Yeong brought the book out and started reading it.
“What are you reading?” Izumi asked
“About the dragon lands. I’ll need to learn how to speak their language so I’m reading it ahead of time. Though we have little time I can still get it done.” Yeong said.
“Oh ok.” Izumi said.
Yeong looked at the dragon language and saw it is the same structure as jiggly and tenshi language. And some words are the same.
He memorized everything in an hour. And waited till they met the borders of the entrance.
“Another 5 miles till we get there,” Hiroki said.
“Let’s fly from here.” Cuojue said, turning into a Yinglong Dragon.
Izumi looked at Cuojue’s transformation. He was amazed at how large he is and how long his body is.
“Get on it will be faster to get there.” Cuojue said lifting his wing down.
Everyone climbed on and sat on the back of Cuojue. Cuojue flapped his great wings and flew a good distance.
“We’ll reach there in no time!” Hiroki shouted.
They got there within no time. When they got there something they saw truly shocked them all…
