Me and my sister, Jaylene, walked outside to the hill our house sits upon.
"So... How's your training coming?" Jaylene questioned.
"It's... ok?" I replied. "I'm just hoping I won't disappoint when the day comes, 'ya know?"
"Don't worry, you won't. You always find a way." She reassured me with a smile.
The next day in the arena, my trainer offered me a special weapon.
"This right here is a special kind of staff, the Encausmer!" She told me. "It was blessed by the gods and designed by the saints in the church. Why don't you test it out?"
"Um, yes ma'am!" I replied. As soon as it touched my fingers, the rounded ends became points that could pierce a whale. "Woah, are you sure this is safe for me to use...?"
"You'll be fine! Just remember to hold on to it while you're sparring!" my trainer said. A giant man walked in front of me and started swinging his fists at me. I quickly dodged him and reluctantly waved the spear at him.
"Ah, shit! My finger!" The man called out. He ran at me, trying to uppercut my chest but I blocked him with the spear and then swung the spear round and round, slicing much of his skin off and causing his arms to bleed.
"Oh my god! I'm so sorry, I-"
My trainer swiftly helped him up and took him to the hospital. But instead of feeling bad for the man, I felt a sensation of excitement. I'd never been able to swing a sword before, and I felt more confident than I had in years.
