I was blinded by the brightest of the room. Last I remember was being at the school dinner and not feeling well then, the world went black. I sat up on the large bed taking in the spacious bedroom noticing neatly organized books, computer desk and large t.v. Confusion clouded my mind assimilating what happened to me. Panic seeped in and I quickly scanned my body checking for any sign of injury. I had all my clothes on except for Geralt’s jacket and my shoes. I then searched for my phone, finding it on the night table. Just when I was reaching for it - a knock at the door made me jump.
“Come in?” Just in case, I got off from the stranger's bed. A worried Rye opened the door, and quickly rushed to my side urging me to lay down.
“Hey, don’t get up. How do you feel? I’ll go get my father-“
“Wait, don’t. I feel fine. Where am I? What happened? My mom must be worried. I need to call her!” I said exasperated.
“Before I answer any of your questions, please calm down. sit.” I took a seat on the bed obeying his command.
“Okay. You had a panic attack at dinner, so we brought you to my house. You’re in my room. Also, your mom is the way here”
“Oh fuck. Your mother mustn't be happy about me being here especially IN YOUR ROOM” With one hand I push my hair back noticing it was tied in a loose ponytail.
“Why would you say that?” He asked even though he knew what I was referring to.
“I heard what your mom said about me. That ‘my type of girls’ only care about money and how to climb the social ladder.” Upon hearing this, his face froze, then he looked down wearing a shameful expression. He brushed a hand over his dark hair, nose flared out I guess angry at my accusation.
“You heard the conversation...” He said. His voice sounded afraid. I blankly nodded giving him a duh face.
“I’m not wealthy but I most certainly, am not that ‘type’. My mother works hard to provide for even more than I need. This was a mistake, you shouldn’t have brought me here.” I curled my fist holding back the anger. I know it wasn't his fault that his mom sucked but, I couldn't help feeling angry.
“I -“ I was ready for him to defend his mother but instead he gave me a defeated and ashamed look agreeing with me.
“I also heard what you said. It can’t be helped that some people hold prejudice against people that look like me. Hell, I'm not even poor, my mom makes a good salary and my father is a business owner, tell me does money define a person’s character?” My voice quivers from anger, all of the hate Jayelina had endured alone in that goddamn school from trying to fit in. He rested one hand on mine and with the other wiped a single tear from my cheek. I froze in place by his action sitting still as he caressed my cheek. My back was stiff, taken back by the sudden touch of his rough hand.
“ugh I don’t know why I’m acting like this” I sniffle feeling my face redden and trying hard not to cry in front of him.
“oh god, I’m at her house and on her son’s bed, I need to get out of here.” Panic sipping in, I quickly stood up too fast because next I was stumbling, my face inches away from the floor when strong arms held me stopping the fall. I turned my face, our faces inches away. I felt a light blush creeping up my cheeks before moving away.
“You’re still recovering from the panic attack. Your nerves are on edge now, so please relax for now.” He said gently in a soothing voice.
“Why are you being so nice to me?” He chuckled and I felt his hot breath on my face. Noticing how close he was he stepped away.
“is it so hard to believe I care for your well being? Listen, I understand that you don’t trust me especially after what my mom said about you but, I don’t think of you any less because you come from a different kind of family than me. As your friend and your doctor’s son, I'm telling you to rest.”
“Haha, okay Dr. Hemsworth Jr.” I smiled surprised at his response. My eyes scanned his bedroom which screamed masculinity with grey and black furniture neatly organized with a wide balcony. I’ve never been to a boy’s room before but his room looked just like in the movies.
“Your room is pretty neat and organized” I said while walking over to the balcony.
“Well, it is not always cleaned plus, we got maids that help” he replied with a sheepish smile.
“It’s hella nice. My whole house could probably fit here” I opened the balcony door stepping outside. It was a chilly night with cold wind hitting my now bare arms but it felt sort of refreshing in the middle of this chaotic night.
“Are you cold?” He asked from behind me.
“Nope” Rye joined me standing side by side, we both silently stared at the night sky. From this altitude, the stars can be seen in the dark blue hue sky beautifully. Our arms were almost touching as we leaned over the rail. I sneaked a glance over to Rye, his grey eyes glimmered like crystal gems. Oh my god, he’s so handsome. He scrunched his brows together detecting my staring at him.
Turning to me, “are you checking me out?” He smirked, his dimples visible.
“Boy, you wish” My pride would never let me admit that yes, I was. I turned to face him, and my heart pace quickened. Blood rushed everywhere in my body. Feeling hot and dehydrated, I licked my lips and his eyes fell onto my lips. He quickly turned his face away from me, the tip of his ears red.
I finally spoke first, breaking the silence “So, when is my mom coming?”
“Actually, she should be here any moment” Breaking eye contact, his eyes scanned my face and finally landed on my lips. “We should go inside, you got goosebumps from the cold” He held the door open for me. Boy, these are not goosebumps from cold, I thought internally looking away from his killer gaze.
“Yeah it's cold” It’s all I managed to say.
