Chapter 2: The Classroom

Chapter 2: The Classroom

Nov 19, 2020

"Bye Jess," Shouted Josi as she sprinted off to class, "I'll see you at lunch!" she added. I almost couldn't hear her because of how far away she was already. Josi is super cool. I love being her sister because everyone loves her. She's amazing at sports, she's super smart, she is pretty, she isn't a goody-two-shoes, and if you want to do something like sneak out and she finds out if it was a good enough escape plan ,she doesn't tattle! Oh, and she's the most confident person that I know to have lived on this earth. I run to my classroom so that I'm not late. It didn't help. By the time I got to my class, everyone was already there.

"You must be Jessica Robin," says a woman with light blonde hair and black high heels.

"Ye-yep, t-that's me," I answered. I am not Josephine. I am not confident at all. Get it together Jess, She's your teacher, and she's gonna think you are a BABY! That's what my brain was telling me. Let's try this one more time.

"Yes ma'am that's me, I'm Jessica." That's better, not the greatest but better.

"Okay Jessica, that is your seat on the first row, the second chair to the right," she replied. I walked over to my seat and then sat down. Riiiiing Riiing Riiing, I hear Ms. Avery/ My teacher's phone go.

" Yes, yes, this is Ms. Avery, Mhm, Yes, Okay, I'll let her know." After Ms. Avery put the phone down, she said, "Jessica, you are being picked up for early dismissal. " Early dismissal? I don't think that I have a dentist's appointment today and my last doctor's check-up was only two months ago. Why am I getting picked up early? Nobody told me about this! I pick up my bookbag and start walking down the hallway. I stop at the elevator and press the button that says 1*. Once I am down the stairs I walk to the front desk. I see mom, dad, Josi, and Julie already there. Dad takes Julie in his car and mom takes me in her's. Josi drives her car by herself. So many thoughts are in my head. Why am I getting picked up early? Why couldn't mom and dad take one car? Are they trying to avoid each other? I'm so stressed out I don't know why I'm getting picked up early especially on my first day of high school!

"So Jessica, I know that you and your sisters don't like hearing all of the fights and shouting going on between your father and me so we have decided that he's going to be moving to Savannah, Georg-" Mom started. She never got to finish though because I wouldn't let her.

"NO! Daddy is NOT moving!" Now I know why they each took only one child. Daddy took Julie and mom took me. Now I know their plan. They would tell Josi later.

"You didn't let me finish, he's moving to Georgia BUT every 2 weeks you can go to his house and stay there, and then after those 2 weeks are over you stay with me for 2 weeks." At this point, I could not speak.

"Mom! That's a whole five hours away!" I was crying.
