He could not believe this: Rose had been impersonating the entire Apple Queens throughout their entire rise to fame! First, this lady was running around calling herself a fake name, Lily Dragonmare, and now she does this thing. What made it infuriating is that she had to beg for Darren to not tell Leticia what she was doing! The nerve of her, and this was not right!
“I was doing this to protect the girls…” Rose told him her reason for this. This woman was so wrong pretending to be a group of five young women. Rose went around disguising herself as these women, sleeping around with men around twice more than their age!
“Okay, what kind of person in the right mind thought it was okay to do this?!” He thought to himself about the night when he was at Underwood with Amelia and Toby.
It was disgusting. Darren could not believe that he wrongly blamed Leticia for the whole " Her entire band are sluts" rumor going on the local music scene earlier. After the night trip to Underwood, Darren had a lot to think about, since he had two goals in mind. One was to warn Leticia and Chantel to cut ties with the Rise of Light and two, get his amulet back. He did not know whether Millie and Jasper were telling the truth, but judging how long Mark had been getting back to him about the amulet. Something was up.
Putting his head down in frustration, Darren sat on his desk, near his laptop, to think of what to do. He only lifted his head back up again to see emails from Linda related to new gigs that were popping up. As he dashed through the emails, trying to figure out whether he should respond to them. He saw his instant messenger pop up from Jesse, which had to take his time to read his message.
Darren read Jesse’s message:
JESSE: We need to talk.
DARREN: Why?
Darren bit his lip in anticipation for his friend’s response. He knew Jesse was feeling a bit off, since Chantel and he were hanging out more and more. Mostly because of practicing their powers together in private and Chantel asking more questions about the Supernatural culture. Mercedes has been feeding classified information about the incident of what happened that night at Summer Camp. The more information he learned, the more he felt enraged at the world.
Waiting for Jesse to finish typing with his response to his question, it seemed like forever, until he heard the ding sound from the messenger on his laptop. Darren read Jesse’s answer, drinking a cup of water on the side.
JESSE: Look, man, can we meet at the park to talk about this? We have A LOT to talk about.
The emphasis on the word, “a lot” made Darren almost spit out his water. Jesse was on to them. Chantel was right: They can not keep this secret anymore, and it did not feel right now to tell him. Jesse, Chantel, and he have been friends since they were kids, inseparable at the most. However, this whole situation seemed like it was driving the three of them apart.
At first, Chantel and Darren made up excuses on why they were together so often and why they could not let Jesse be with them. He remembered Jesse’s face frowning then struggling to say, “Oh... well, maybe next time…” Darren knew it hurt Jesse that they were excluding him, but in his mind, all he wanted to do is protect him.
The next move for Darren was to message Chantel, who thankfully is online with a stroke of luck. He wrote a quick message about Jesse wanting to meet up and the warning that Jesse may be onto them.
Chantel wrote back to him:
CHANTEL: I don’t want to say I told you so but, yeah... I told you so.
Sulking to himself, he hated how she was right all along about this. Darren continued typing back to Chantel, asking to meet later after she gets off work to see Jesse. The two of them agreed to this meeting, since they needed to figure out what to tell Jesse. Not too long after this, his phone made a sound as he took out of his jean pocket. He saw another text message from his brother, Mark saying:
“Meet me tonight at Crystal Lake Park… Don’t skip out.”
Darren took a deep breath once again, then put his phone on his desk. He closed one of his spell books, which he had been reading. This is going to be a long night for two meetings.
