NOTES:
-Shamrock evolved on this route! I think it was fighting a wild Pokemon, or maybe an NPC battle...? Not very eventful bc I don't remember it much.
-FINALLY.... ROCK PUBBY...... Ok ok so! I caught Stephan as a Rolycoly, and then fought an NPC trainer - and he evolved. Like, 2 levels after I caught him through the mandatory EXP share. I didn't even battle with him once as a Rolycoly! So I wanted to incorporate that here - turns out, the anime power of friendship is a good boost for evolution! I also took heavy creative liberties with his design - not a fan of the Rolocoly line design wise, though they're fun to use in battle and are my favourite type, fire, so I went for a rock puppy/turtle look! As for his name, uhh, no inspiration there... He looked like a Stephan to me!

So Bede challenges you at the end of the mines, which lead me thinking "that jerk was probably waiting to ambush trainers with weaker Pokemon after having to battle through the mines" which led to this little set up. Now, in game, Martin oneshot all of his Pokemon- Bede's team is unevolved and very weak at this point. So why the change?
Well, frankly, again it didn't feel right for Tumble to win all of his battles. That's how it happened in game, but through the eyes of a sheltered, inexperienced kid whose only ever watched glamorized battles on tv? Yeah, he probably would try to just brute force his way through every battle. Plus, having his Pokemon never faint would be kinda odd, given that it happens to every other trainer in this world, and given that Bede is a much more experienced battler, just seemed like a no brainer. Plus, I did find it interesting that both of Bede's Pokemon had super effective attacks against Shamrock and Martin..
