FLASH! BOOM!
Shalek was knocked back as a huge bolt of lightning came crashing down on Cade. The energy course through Cade’s entire body, and it was a lot of it. Too much. Cade yelled out in pain. No. I can handle this. This is the power birthed from Dan’s love for me. And my love for him. He is my friend. And I won’t let him down. Cade screamed and focused on the lightning. “I...am…the…TWIN OF THE LIGHTNING DRAGON!” Cade exclaimed, willing himself to gain control of the power. Light smoke started to swirl around his feet. The lightning formed a long, thick, muscular tail behind him. Thick, muscular legs made of the same lightning formed over his pants and ended in two clawed, three-toed feet. His hands were encased in lightning as short talons emerged from his nails. Two yellow horns stood straight on top of his head and a long yellow snout formed over his mouth. Two streaks of lightning jutted out his cheeks like whiskers. His eyes remained slitted, but inside his purple irises danced bolts of lightning.
Shalek was seething. This little weak, worthless kid was supposed to be easy. No one had warned him that Cade had this many abilities. He had been tricked. But he couldn’t very well lay down now. And besides, the worst this kid could do was send him back to Hell. He didn’t possess the eradication power. Or did he? He didn’t know about quite a few of Cade’s abilities that he had seen tonight. Could he destroy him as well? Should he just give up and leave? Live to fight another day? No. This was his chance. His only shot. If he didn’t kill this guy now he might never get the head start on killing the group. He had no choice. He had to risk it.
“So you think that’s going to be enough to send me back?” Shalek taunted. “Don’t make me laugh. You still are a weak little cat!” Shalek released a slash of energy towards Cade. “Lightning Dragon Slash,” Cade stated calmly, his voice gravely and rough all of a sudden. He spread his claws out and slashed the air in front of him, causing yellow slashes of lightning to intercept Shalek’s own black ones coming towards him.
“Don’t hold back now,” Cade stated, returning Shalek's taunt. Cade noticed that he felt slightly different. He felt a little more feral, more aggressive. He liked it. “Don’t get cocky you little shit,” Shalek barked, once again forming his massive claws of dark energy. Cade breathed deeply, exhaling pure ozone. He took his stance. Shalek thrusted his arms towards Cade. Cade didn’t dodge. As the taloned hands closed in on Cade, he put his hands up and caught them on each on his sides, holding them off as Shalek tried to press them upon him. Lightning sparked wildly and elongated Cade’s own claws so that they surrounded Shalek’s. Shalek tried to pull away but Cade’s grip was firm. Suddenly, Cade’s eyes flashed yellow, he reared his head back, then flung it back down, opening his mouth and unleashing a torrent of lightning right down the open pathway created by Shalek’s held arms. There was no escape.
After about 10 seconds, Cade had to stop the lightning so he could breathe. He never could hold his breath for very long. Shalek took this opportunity to just cancel his long, extended arms, causing them to fade away and his regular arms to return as he fell to his knees. Now’s my chance, while he can’t breathe again. Shalek tried to jump up and sprint towards Cade but he couldn’t move.
Oh no.
“It’s time I end this,” stated Cade flatly. He reached to his side and unhooked his kunai, twirling it around on his middle finger before stopping it pointed out as he made a fist. “Activate Holy Sever.” The blade on the knife started to glow white. He pushed off of his right foot and in an instant he was in front of Shalek, moving a lot faster than he thought he would.
“Go ahead. Send me back. That won’t stop my demons from coming after you and your friends. Oh but don’t you worry little kitty, I’ll be back to finish you myself. This isn’t over. You think I’m afraid to go back to Hell? Please. Even after all of this you still are too weak. You don’t possess the power to destroy me. So go ahead. Do what you want. But I swear I will come back and eat your bones before I devour your flesh the next time we meet.”
For the first time all night, in that moment, Shalek looked like pure evil. Cade looked into his human eyes and saw it. Hatred. Malice. Fear. All the things that would make someone irrational and lead them to do unspeakable evils to any and every one around them.
“You will never hurt another soul again,” Cade said confidently. “You underestimated the love I feel from my friends. You underestimated me. And worst of all, you underestimated the power I wield from God. I can see in your eyes that you never had anyone love you in your life. Because there is nothing but hatred and evil there. Maybe if you had experienced love you wouldn’t be the demon you are today. But that isn’t an excuse. And it won’t save you. I will erase you from every world and every realm God created and allowed to be created. Link activate: Divine Sever.” The blade in Cade’s hand shined even brighter, and a purple extension formed past the blade, but could only be seen in the Spirit Realm. Cade pulled his arm back and pushed forward, driving the blade into Shalek’s abdomen.
Shalek felt a pain like he had never felt before. It felt like the blade had pierced his very being. The feeling spread to every inch of his body. “What did you just do?” “Divine Sever is the link created by me accepting the love of God for me. It grants me a sliver of His power. And with it, I can cut any tie, bond, or tether. I cut your tie to any and all realities. Once your body dies, you will cease to exist in any reality or realm. It will be as if you were never created. Your soul will never have a chance at redemption, because it will no longer exist. This is but a drop of God’s power. See His glory and revel in His might.”
“Oh shut the fu…” Shalek couldn’t finish the sentence. He started coughing up blood. As he felt the life leave his body, he saw it slowly start to fade away. He began to scream. And beg. And finally, as the last of his mane started to fade, and his piercing hazel eyes started to dim, he said, “well, I guess you weren’t the weakest link after all. Continue to be strong little cat. Not for your own good. Hell no. But so they can see that it took one powerful S.O.B to take down Shalek the Ambitious.”
And then he was gone.
