I walk into my second period of the day, as they call “first core” it was social studies. As soon as i walk in, someone from my elementary school saw me. “OMG KAT!” he shouted. All eyes turned to me. I walk up to him and we start talking. “Where do i sit..?” I ask him. He shrugged. “You can sit with me!” a girl says. “No its okay-“ i respond. She was a pretty light skinned girl. I find an empty desk and sit at the table, a girl walks in, i immediately recognize her.
“Oh no” we both said when we saw each other. This girl is Tamara. She went to the same after school program i did, all schools in the county get put there, if you sign up for it. She sits down in the desk next to me. A teacher walks in. “I am todays subsisting for your teacher.” I remember thinking, “Great, i don't know what to do.” She proceeded onto calling attendance, everyones chattering and loud, it was so noisy i wanted to cover my ears. I don't want to seem weird though.
She hands us map papers, as if i knew what we were doing. “Is there anyone i didn't call?” she says. I slowly raise my hand. “Whats your name?” I respond with Kathryn. “You’re not on the roster hun.” She says to me. “Im new.” I responded, she told me to get help from the other students with my work. Luckily, Tamara helps me with my paper.
The bell rings, class ends.
I proceeded to look at my schedule to see my next class. “Math” i thought to myself. I ask for someone to help me and told them the teacher, Taylor, the girl who offered me a seat helps me to my next class.
I walk in, all eyes on me. Not that i don’t expect this to happen in every class i go to, but it still makes me nervous. As if everyone is judging me. They probably are. The teacher and i look at each other, i explain to her that i'm new, and i ask her where to sit. “In the seat in the front next to Lauren.” She replies. Lauren looks at her, i walk up to the front and sit down. Shes drawing. Something off of google, its impressive to watch. “I draw too!” i say, she seems like a cool person to be friends with. As her and i talk, a boy starts asking me where i'm from.
“I went to the rival school” i told him. “My names Jonathan.” He says, “I’m Kat!” i say, i feel as if i'm making friends, this is quicker than last time. I start paying attention to the lesson. “Circumference?” i think to myself, at my old school we didn’t learn much about it, or if we did i didn’t understand or i was zoning out the entire time.
I feel someone staring at me. They’re watching me very closely. It can’t be the teacher, she’s in front of me, i turn around for a glance and its a boy. He’s tall and has blonde hair. He's wearing neon yellow, he kinda looks like a highlighter. But that was normal for 6th and 7th graders i assume.
The rest of the class i is a blur, boring math, nothing special.
The bell rings, lunch time.
