It was at the drinks reception during the dress rehearsals. Lucas’s mind was with his sister. While Gillian was talking to him he was just made glances at his sister deep in thought.

Gillian said “Why do you keep looking at your sister?”

Lucas came out of his thoughts “I am sorry...”

Gillian sighed “I cant believe you insulted my brother like that. You are lucky he didnt take the insult to heart. He is your best friend. How can you not trust him with your sister?”

Lucas lied “I do trust him.”

Gillian said “Then why do you keep looking at them? You havent drank anything or ate anything since you saw them. I dont think you are even paying attention to me right now. You are thinking of your sister. Stop it....” She then wrapped her arms around his neck “Think of me...”

Gillian was jealous. She could not stand Lucas think of anyone or anything but her. Lucas felt sick. He couldnt comprehend how selfish Gillian was.

Gillian said “I just want you to think of me... Are you paying full attention to me?”

Lucas couldnt help glance at his sister and the alpha leaving the room. He froze. “Where did they go?”

Gillian sighed “Probably they are driving now to the dinner. Maybe we should do the same.” She then took his hand in his and walked with him to the exist. Slowly the other attendees were also making their way outside to drive away after the successful dress rehearsal.

Gillian squeezed his hand “You know... You worry too much about your sister. She is safe with my brother. He wont hurt her...”

Lucas said nothing. His thoughts went to his sister. What was he going to do? He believed alpha Gavin who said he wont hurt her. He indeed would have hurt his sister for liking a human but he had overlooked that. Maybe he was worried too much. But this was his baby sister. He didnt want her to date until she was ready. He didnt feel his sister was ready. No one refused alpha Gavin. He had to protect his sister. He breathed and turned to Gillian “Can I ask you for a favour?”

Gillian said “Name it.”

Lucas stopped walking “Can you ask your brother to let my sister be until she is older?”

Gillian smiled sadly “Lucas. There is something you should know... I can do anything but I cant do what you asked... What my brother said is true. He has waited for your sister for a long time. He told me along time ago he loved your sister but made me swear I wont tell anyone. My brother is in love with your sister. He wants her as a mate. I cant come between an alpha and his destined mate... I am sorry Lucas.” She then leaned close and kissed his cheek.

Lucas was frozen. He was in shock. It was hard for him to get his head around it. Gillian was his only hope. “Please Gillian. I need your help.”

Gillian sighed “Come on Lucas. You worry too much. You saw them together... They looked great together. He wont force your sister to do anything she is not ready for. We live by certain rules in this society...”

There were rules but they didnt apply to the alpha. He was above the law. He made the rules. He could snap his fingers and make someone’s life hell. Gillian’s words weren’t convincing him at all.

Gillian carried on “This should be the end of our conversation about your sister Lucas. You cant possibly tell me you are thinking of her... She is safe with my brother. He is not going to hurt her... Lets go now...”

Lucas complied and followed Gillian but in his mind he was trying to think of ways of saving his sister from alpha Gavin. He was willing to do anything to save her from getting hurt. He firstly needed to know if this was what his sister wanted. If she wanted alpha Gavin then there was less to worry about. If she complied with the rules she was not going to get hurt. Gavin only hurt people who broke the rules or insulted him. His sister was a free spirited beta wolf. She was at risk.

Alpha Gavin opened the door to the passenger seat of a car that had a chauffeur ready for them.

Lorraine wordlessly entered the car and sat down. There was a sound proof screen in front of her separating the chauffeurs compartment and the passengers. The alpha liked his privacy.

Gavin got in the car and sat next to Lorraine. He sat too close for her liking. He then reached over and held her hand in his as the car moved.

Gavin whispered “You didn’t say anything at the drinks reception. You just drank and nodded. I didnt miss that Lorraine. Whats wrong?”

Lorraine looked outside the window “I am fine.”

Gavin said “Look at me when I am talking to your Lorraine.”

Lorraine turned to him “Its not polite to look at the alpha in the eye. It can be seen as a challenge. I dont wish to challenge you alpha...”

Gavin said “But I want you to look at me. I like to see your beautiful eyes. I like to stare into them. The rules dont apply to you Lorraine...”

Lorraine felt comfortable. He was staring into her eyes and he smiled at her. She cringed. She looked away. “I am not used to this.”

Gavin frowned “I said look at me. I wont see it as a challenge.” He then reached over and grabbed her chin and turned her face towards himself “You are so beautiful. I love you so much.” He then leaned closer.

Lorraine was panicking. She couldnt say it back to him and his lips were dangerously close to hers. She cleared her throat and said “Is that building new? I havent seen it before...”

Gavin looked at the direction she was pointing and let go of her chin “Yes. Thats a new building. Its another pack prison and has an underground walkway that reaches the dungeons. Its quite massive. Do you want me to give you a tour? Maybe for work experience you can come and oversee whats happening. It would be interesting. Don’t you think?”

Lorraine asked “How many people are going to prison? Why are you building more prisons? This state is quite safe...”

Gavin said “This prison is pretty empty. You are right. We are a safe state but I like to be ready for rioters and rebels. So do you want a tour?”

Lorraine had nothing to lose. She would have done anything to get the direction of the conversation away from the alpha’s love for her. She smiled with force “Yes. Please.”

Gavin said “I will give you a tour after dinner.”

Lorraine said “Thank you alpha.”

Gavin said “You can call me Gavin. You dont have to say alpha.” He squeezed her hand.

Lorraine said “Its hard. I cant.”

Gavin said “I know you have some habits. I give you time to get rid of them. I want you to call me by my name and look into my eyes when I speak to you. You need to practice this and try. Do you understand?”

Lorraine said “Yes alpha... I mean Gavin.”

Gavin smiled and said “I like it when you say my name. I really do Lorraine. Do you have any idea how much I love you? I doubt you can imagine the extent of my love for you... I will do anything for you... Is there anything you can think of that I can do for you right now to make you happy?”

Lorraine thought to herself “You can leave me alone for one and you can let the humans come back to town istead of sending them to the hot farms and dark mines with poor working conditions.” But she didnt dare say it. Her brother had warned her that she could only make it worse. She had plans to ask him and try her luck. It couldnt get that much worse she thought but she knew now was not the time. She just had a bad feeling about brining up humans when alpha Gavin had just recently set the new rules for the humans. She looked away “There is nothing alpha... Gavin. Nothing comes to mind.”

Alpha Gavin said “You are looking away again. Look at me.”

Lorraine turned to him. He leaned closer to her and took a deep breath looking into her eyes “You have the most gorgeous pair of eyes I have ever seen.”

Lorraine said “Thank you. You are very kind alpha.”

Gavin said “Its Gavin to you. Don’t forget.”

Lorraine was very uncomfortable. There was nothing to talk about and he kept leaning close. She tried to make conversation “Alpha... Gavin... How long is left until we get to the dinner?”

Gavin said “Not long...” He leaned closer and their shoulders were almost touching as he was holding her hand. He said “Lorraine.”

Lorraine said “Yes alpha... Gavin...”

Gavin said slowly “I asked you what I need to do to make you happy. I now want to discuss the opposite of the topic. To make me happy. Of course I have expectations from you. There is so much you can do for me....”

She stiffened. He had what kind of expectations.

Gavin said “Go out with me from now on. I want you to be officially my girlfriend. I want you to be an obedient girlfriend. You are a beta wolf and the reports of your school has come to my desk. I see reports of all students of course just in case there are concerns that I need to nip in the bud...In case of you I dont mind your non-compliant side. I like my girl fiesty... But I want you to be obedient. When you go out with me I want you to obey me in public but behind closed doors I allow you to be honest and even challenge me... I wont hurt you. Do you think you can do that? Be obedient in public and be yourself behind closed doors when we are alone?”

She didnt know what scared her the most. Him knowing she had a non compliant side and whether this would have consequences or the fact that he was planning to see her behind closed doors. She didnt want to be alone with him too much.
