It was the end of school year and the last day. The prom was the next day. The students were excitedly talking about the prom after school.

Lucas was in the car park waiting for his sister. He saw Kelly Anne from far and waved at her. He smiled at her. Just then he spotted Gillian come out of the building making her way to her car. Unfortunately she noticed him and walked towards him.

Gillian reached him and wrapped her arms around his neck. I cant believe tomorrow is the prom. How exciting? Don’t you think?”

Lucas glanced past her at Kelly Anne who was watching them from across the car park. He then looked at Gillian and smiled forcibly “I guess it is exciting.”

Gillian smiled “Did you have time to think about my suggestion?”

Lucas asked “What suggestion?”

Gillian rolled her eyes “Guys are forgetful. Come on. I asked you about having a baby. Are you ready to have a baby after the prom? prom night is when many are planning to have their babies after they go home.”

Lucas cringed at this conversation. He said “I am sorry Gillian. I am not ready.”

Gillian frowned “Not yet? Why not? You dont have to do anything. I will have to carry the baby you know. But fine we wait. You need to make it upto me.” She then let go of his neck and walked away.

Lucas looked at Kelly Anne who was looking at him with a stone face. She turned around and left. He sighed. There was no way he could win. It wasn’t his fault he couldnt court Kelly Anne. Gillian had ambushed him.

His sister came and she sat inside. Lucas got in and said “Whats the matter. You dont seem very happy.”

She sighed. She had been summoned by the alpha again. She had to go see him in his office.

She said “Its nothing. I am a bit tired. By the way can you take me to the alpha’s office. He wants to see me. He sent a message to the headmaster for me. I have to go to him straight away.”

He frowned “Why?”

She said “He wants to have a meal with me I think. We are dating now. Tomorrow is the prom. He must have some arrangements for us to go to the prom.” She wished she didnt have to attend the prom with him but there was no excuse. Alumni of the high school who were eighteen were allowed to attend and he was the alpha. He could bend the rules even if he wasn’t allowed to come to the prom. What he said went. He called the shots to everything and unfortunately she was the subject of his affection. She wished she could find a way to push him away or even better to convince him that she wasn’t the right girl for him.

He said “I dont like this. You are tired from school and you have to go see him. I can speak to him and drop you off some other time.”

She said “Its fine Lucas. I will go.”

He stopped the car on the side of the road opposite the alpha’s office building and said “Lorraine. I want you to be honest with me. Has he ever forced you to do anything you dont want to do or has he suggested anything you are not comfortable with?”

Lorraine said “No. He hasn’t. He wanted to kiss me but I told him I need time and he said he will wait. But thats about it. He has been a perfect gentleman.”

Lucas asked “Can you be honest with me and tell me if you actually enjoy spending time with him? You dont look happy right now. Something is the matter.”

Lorraine looked away and said “Lucas. What do you want me to say? That I am enjoying life? Well I am fine. I am safe. The alpha hasn’t hurt me. Isn’t that enough for you to know.”

Lucas said “But are you enjoying yourself and are you happy?”

Lorraine sighed and looked down “What if I wasn’t? What will you do?”

Lucas said “I can talk to him. To stop pushing you.”

Lorraine looked up “And you think he will listen.”

Lucas said “No. But I am willing to try. So tell me. Are you happy with him?”

Lorraine said “I dont know. I dont really see him as my boyfriend. He ordered me to be with him. He stated I need to go out with him because he needs a girl by his side at the prom. I had to comply.”

Lucas frowned “So you are not happy. Why didnt you tell me?”

Lorraine said “Because I know there is nothing you can do. Don’t think I dont know about you and Gillian. She is pushing you to have a baby with her and you dont like it... I know you are seeing someone else. I know you dont like her.”

Lucas said “Wait. What are you talking about? I am not seeing someone else.”

Lorraine said “Don’t deny it. That night when you came home late I came near your door and was going to knock but I could smell Kelly Anne on you from behind the door. I have heightened senses because I am a beta wolf. You were with her.”

Lucas said “It was a business arrangement.”

Lorraine said “Really? Then why was her scent so strong on you? You must have touched her. You have been cheating on Gillian. I suspected you dont like Gillian but I didnt think you have the guts to cheat on her. Come on Lucas. She is an alpha wolf. What do you think will happen to Kelly Anne if she finds out you have touched her.”

Lucas said “For the records I only hugged her.”

Lorraine said “Well. So you admit you cheated on Gillian. Think Lucas. You have endangered Kelly Anne.”

Lucas said “I couldnt stay away from her. I just couldnt. Maybe one day you will understand what I mean... But I know its dangerous. Thats why I will find a way for Kelly Anne and I to be together.”

Lorraine said “Why do you make vows that you cant fulfil Lucas. Lets face it. You need to end it with Kelly Anne before Gillian finds out. You cant see Kelly Anne while Gillian is around.”

Lucas sighed “I will find a way to make it work. I need time to make Gllian break up with me.”

Lorraine said “How on earth are you going to do that? She is madly in love with you. She is a strong alpha and wont take Kindly to any competition. You wont be in high school any more so you cant give the excuse that you just were talking to Kelly Anne about homework. You told me you went out for business reasons but I didnt believe you. I smelt her all over you. If you go to Kelly Anne again, Gillian may be around to smell her all over you.”

Lucas stated “She wont find out. I wont let her.”

Lorraine sighed “You cant be together. Unless she breaks up with you which is highly unlikely. She wants your baby Lucas. What does it say about her affections for you?”

Lucas said “Enough about me. Lets talk about you.”

Lorraine said “What about me? At least I dont have a lover on the side. I am dating the alpha and he is the only one I am seeing. There is no one in danger because of me having a relationship with them. So I am not the one in trouble. You are.”

Lucas said “You are my baby sister. Forget about my problems. I want to protect you.”

Lorraine said “Come on Lucas. Don’t you see. Right now you need to protect yourself and more than anything you need to protect Kelly Anne. She is in danger because of you. You are having an affair with her. End it. Now. I am fine. Don’t you see? If you are in trouble with Gillian do you have any idea what she will do to you? I have no one else but you Lucas. You are the only one I have right now. I cant lose you. So please take care of yourself and dont anger Gillian.”

Lucas whispered “I will find a way.”

Lorraine said “You will. Lets hope so. But for now you havent found a way Lucas. So you are stuck with Gillian. Don’t endanger Kelly Anne. Its not worth it. The alphas win. They always do. Anyway I have to go. See you later Lucas. Don’t worry about me. The alpha hasn’t hurt me. He is fine. I prefer not to date him but he is the alpha. No one can stop him. Let me know if you find a way to set me free. You cant. Lets face it. You have no power to stop him. You could try but he may hurt you if you try to come between him and I. I would never forgive myself if he hurts you. So please dont interfere. Let us go with the pretence that we love these two siblings. You say you will find a way. Fine. Go out there and do it. But dont give me hope when you know full well you have no solutions to our problems. For now you are no match for the alpha.” She then opened the door and left.
