Kelly Anne was at home watching TV. It was around midnight. But she couldnt sleep. All she thought of was the beta. They had been at work that afternoon and she had seen Lucas. When she had put reports on his desk their hands had touched and it had created an awkward moment. She didnt know what to do with her feelings. He was taken by an alpha female. She had no chances against Gillian. But a ray of hope inside her said maybe Lucas could be honest about his feelings and face up to Gillian. What were the chances of that happening and what were going to be the consequences. Surely Gillian would have still continued to love him and would have forced him to continue the relationship. The most powerful ruled in this world.

She tried to forget him and that moment in the office with him but she couldnt. If Gillian wasn’t around they could be a couple.

She was in her deep thoughts when a knock came on the door. She turned off the TV and went to open the door. “Lucas... Hi.”

Lucas asked “Can I come in?”

She said “Yes. Of course.”

Lucas entered and Kelly Anne closed the door. “Did anyone see you come here?”

Lucas shook his head. No. Where you live humans used to live and now they are banished out of town so your apartment is pretty empty except for a few omega families. No one followed me either. Don’t worry Kelly Anne. I have sharpened senses.”

Kelly Anne stood in front of him “How can I not worry? You are seeing me and you are seeing Gillian, an alpha wolf. What if she finds out.”

Lucas sighed “She wont. We keep it a secret.” He then took a step towards her “Relax Kelly Anne.”

Kelly Anne said “I havent stopped thinking about you... You know... Ever since our hands touched at the office.”

Lucas said “Me too Kelly Anne. Me too... Can I hold you?”

Kelly Anne nodded. Lucas wrapped his arms around her and embraced Kelly Anne as he was inhaling her scent. “I wish life wasn’t this way. I wish I was allowed to openly express my feelings for you... But Gillian is pushy... Today I had coffee with her... I slowly brought up how break ups happened in other relationships and what happens if we do not get a long. She became angry. She said there is no way we ever break up and whoever that tries to break us up will pay a big price.... I dont know what to do. I cant take her on.”

Kelly Anne said as she was enjoying the embrace with Lucas “I know Lucas. I dont expect you to. But part of me hoped she would be reasonable. Why is she so unreasonable?”

Lucas said “She has power and thinks she can have anything she wants.”

Kelly Anne said “Maybe she should be taught that she cant have everything she wants when she wants.”

Lucas asked “Who is going to dare try to teach her?”

Kelly Anne said “We will...”

Lucas asked “How?”

Kelly Anne slightly pulled away and looked into Lucas’s eyes ” I have been thinking. I thought about the problem. You know when you asked me what I would do if my sister was dating the alpha?”

Lucas said “Yes.”

Kelly Anne said “I told you I will run away with her where he cant find us... I now thought about it more... You and I ... We can run away. We can take your sister with us.”

Lucas gasped “Kelly Anne. You cant say things like this? How are we going to get through the border undetected? Do you know what happens to people who try to cross the borders illegally?”

She said “Who said we will leave illegally? We can go legally... We can find a way to legally pass the borders. For vacation reasons or for visiting neighbouring packs on business. Then we can disappear. You are a beta. I leave it to you to decide but this is the plan I have so far. The only way we can have a relationship is if we run away somewhere as far away as possible from here so Gavin and Gillian cant find us.”

Lucas breathed “That would be amazing if we could run away. But it doesnt sound realistic to think we can get away....”

She said “Any life is better than the life you have right now. You are being forced into a loveless relationship. Your sister is matched to the alpha who is the cruelest man anyone ever knows. You and your sister are not happy here. For the sake of your future we need to run. He is becoming more strict with humans and omegas. Me as a protector wolf cant do much here either. This is the wrong place for any of us to be in. We need to leave Lucas. The sooner you realise that this is the only way, the better.”

Lucas said “I need to think about it.”

Kelly Anne said “You cant think for long. We are running out of time. Its only a matter of time before someone sees you coming to see me at midnight.”

Lucas said “I know we are running out of time. Its not just that Kelly Anne. Her patience is running out too. She now wants a baby with me...”

Kelly Anne said “What? So her demands are changing.... This is mad. You having a baby with a woman you dont love.”

Lucas said “And she wants the baby as soon as possible Kelly Anne. Its getting harder to resist her advances. Its getting harder to pretend I like her when my heart is with you. All I think about is you while I am with her. When she hugged me in that car park while you were watching all I could think of was you. I love you so much... I cant pretend to love her when I love you.”

Kelly Anne couldnt stop herself and leaned close and attached her lips to his. She then pulled away “I couldnt help it.”

Lucas said “Don’t stop... Please.”

Kelly Anne leaned close and kissed him one more time. He deepened the kiss and while holding her tightly.

Once they finished kissing, Lucas said “Its getting late. I have to go now.”

Kelly Anne said “Think about what I said.”

Lucas said “I will. I am sorry I have to go.” He then leaned over and kissed her one more time.

Lucas managed to get home without getting detected by anyone. But noticed his sister watching him from her window. He went straight to his room and as he entered his room, so did his sister.

He closed the door and Lorraine said “I can smell her all over you. Were you with her again? What were you thinking? Do you have any idea what can happen if Gillian finds out?”

Lucas said “I cant keep away from her any more Lorraine. I cant. I would do anything to see her. I was careful. I didnt detect anyone seeing me or following me. Its dead quiet at night.”

Lorraine said “Thats not the point. You may not care for your life. But you must care for mine? What would happen if Gillian sends you to a detention centre alongside Kelly Anne for cheating on her? Thats a possibility. I will be alone. All alone at the alpha’s mercy.”

Lucas said “I wont get caught. I am a beta wolf. I promise.”

Lorraine said “I forbid you from touching her again. See her at work but dont go to her house again. I am scared Lucas.”

Lucas said “Don’t be scared.... Lorraine... There is something I discussed with Kelly Anne that might interest you.”

Lorraine said “What is it?”

Lucas said “We were talking and Kelly Anne suggested that we... all of us, you, me and Kelly Anne run away to another state...”

Lorraine said “What? No way. Thats crazy. You both work in the government. You know how closely the borders are guarded. No one can get through.”

Lucas said “We know. Thats why we need a plan to leave legally. We can find a way. What do you think?”

Lorraine said “I dont think alpha Gavin and Gillian would let us out of their sight for one second. I dont think this plan will work.”

Lucas said “I will do anything in my power to make it work. I promise.”
