I am guessing that whoever “him” is died and she left the Philippines for Japan partially to try to escape his memories, and Japan became the country of choice due to the anime instead of other countries in the larger region like Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, or Malaysia. Can’t wait till she gets a GF (or two based on the cover) to comfort her
