Chapter 11
Perspective on antagonists
Jadeite had watched her father pace around the king's castle for far too long and his state was agitating her. Bursting through the doors to the throne room was extremely disrespectful but she had the perfect plan. The young king had been looking for a wife and why not find the perfect wife in the most successful tradesman in the regain. Before the guards could grab her, she bowed fully to her king a sinister smirk plastering her face and a glint in her bright green eyes.
"What is it that you want tradesman's daughter," the king leaned forward in his trone his hands pressing into his knees and his eyes daring Jadeite to disrespect him. She was no cowered, she was not raised like the village girls who had been easily taken advantage of until they were forced to marry young. With a grin, she rose my eyes to bore into king Carden's. "Little girl do you have no respect for your king lower your eyes and bow your head," instead of following orders jadeite rose from her knees as the guards ran to hold her back.
"My king, you are without a queen and though you get this request twice a day I believe that it would benefit you to become betrothed to me," Carden let out a short bellow of laughter his hand lightly slapping his leg, he shakes his head as he finished motioning for Jadeite to continue to attempt to convince him. "I am not a simple village girl; my father is the most successful tradesman in the kingdom it would do well that our forces merged. I believe that this would benefit you we can help you capture whoever it is that crossed the realms and the little scum deer fellow who managed to escape.
A smile graced the soft lips of the young king, many women had begged for his hand in marriage non strong enough to hold his gaze. None of the little village girls whose skin were kept pasty and soft had begged for his hand by his own benefit. This female, the trade lord's daughter was quite wicked as he heard. Though the smile that smoothed Carden's lips did not diminish the glint in his eye. He craved violence, control; he demanded it. He motioned for his guards to leave without even lifting his hand or removing his eyes from the dark abyss in front of him. It surprised him that the girl had still yet to lower her gaze, but she stood strong before him.
"I accept your proposal," the king's voice had deepened several octaves causing even the unshaken jadeite to question her wits. He had accepted and as gleeful as jadeite may have been to be queen and appease her father her smile showed only evil intent. She would finally be getting what she wanted. She bowed graciously before her king and left the room to alert her father.
Things were moving quickly as jadeite had expected them to, her king was always one to rush his malice. As they walked towards the troll's valley, she almost regretted telling father about her arrangement with the king. The trolls were vile menacing creatures who seemed to lack much brain. The cluster islands of Jolrey Atoll were home to the three species of troll. Each of the trolls was more vile and stupid than the last. The gon troll or "master" troll used their size and looks to manipulate power wherever they could find it. They were of sound mind and the easiest to deal with if their omega was in line. They were tolerable. On the other hand, toy troll was not. They were about the size of the typical five-year-old and they had the attitude of one to. They were little gremlins and impossible to deal with. The regular troll was far viler looking than their counterparts and they had such little brain that one could wonder how they survived.
It was a willing troll that they were looking for on lock-stall isle. Though the trolls were particularly difficult to deal with, they were not impossible especially with a king in lead. Other than their ancestors one thing all trolls and their subspecies had in common was their craving for destruction and undying love for all things grand. The more the worth of an item the more they wanted it. As they scaled the cliffs Jadeite cursed herself, why did the territory have to be so impossible if the creatures living upon it had no problem harming whoever dared to enter.
Jadeite shivered upon the realisation that the cave they had just trekked to had been directly in the king's sights, that for whatever reason the king had chosen this troll. She feared that he had chosen the most volatile he could possibly get his hands on. There was only one troll like that, one that everyone knew the name of, but none had lived to see "Kelvyn". The great giant.
