“Eighty nine bottles of beer on the wall, eight nine bottles of beer…” Luke trails off with a groan. He’s beyond bored. He’s been down here for hours and nothing has happened. Nothing. Not even a mouse, or rat has skittered into view. It’s just been him and the old broad. He looks at the coffin and once more thinks what kind of person would want to be moved on a passenger cruise ship. It just seems weird to him. He falls against the box and seriously thinks he might start crying. He has never been so bored in his entire life. He doesn’t even know what time it is. With the darkness of the Cargo Bay it could be any time. He groans, wondering momentarily, if this is what college hazing is like. Like maybe the whole coffin thing is nothing more then a prank. Any moment now Lou is going to come running around the corner, like Ashton Kutcher? He can’t help but laugh at the mental image he receives of Lou with a crooked trucker hat and baggy clothes. He gets up and starts to pace. Back and forth. Back and forth.
“Kill me now. Kill me now.” He starts muttering with every footstep. And for the moment at least death does sound a hell of a lot more interesting than guarding this freaking coffin.
He stops pacing however when a sound comes from the other room. It sounded like something being dropped.
“Hey!” he calls, walking slowly toward the corner. “Who’s there?”
He’s at the corner now, and no answer.
“Hey!” he tries again, his fingers snaking around the edge of the wall. “I’ve got a gun.”
It’s a lie but they didn’t need to know that the most dangerous thing Luke was allowed to carry was pepper spray. He’s around the corner now, and see’s what has made the commotion. A bunch of boxes that had been piled in the far right corner are now on the floor. He frowns for a second before smiling. At least he has something to do. He walks over, and picks up two of the boxes and is about to put them back when he hears new noises. It sounds like whispering. He knocks over the rest of the boxes and is face to face with two teenagers.
“What’s going on here?” he hisses at the young boy and girl. The girl jumps to her feet, quickly throwing her hands up into the air as if afraid he might attack her.
“Listen…”
She never has a chance to finish as the boy promptly pukes all over her shoes.
