We've been walking for hours now. The sun was starting to set. The sky darkening more and more every step I take.
Pretty soon we would settle down for the night.
Before we would tho, I found a small creak and drank from it for a few moments along with Liam and Kate.
After that I found a tree with a small clear area beneath the trunk. (Sorta Like The Picture Above) It was surrounded by roots and I could barely fit through them to get to the small space.
I pulled the shirts of my waist and put them on the ground beside me. After I did I cuddled up with Liam and Kate and quickly fell asleep.
I woke up the next morning to Liam and Kate talking outside the little burrow. Guess I slept in.
"So, w-what do you like to do?" I heard Kate ask Liam.
"Well, I like playing playing with my teddy bear."
"Oh?!?! You have a teddy bear!?!?" Kate asked excitedly.
"Well did." He replied, now a huge frown was plastered on his face.
"O-oh no, I'm sorry. Did I make you sad?"
Liam looked up at Kate and smiled, "Not at all, I just miss him."
"Oh ok."
"Anyway I'm cold, talk to you later." He said giving her a big smile and then going behind a tree to shift. Kate got up as well and did the same behind a tree a few feet away.
I crawled out of the little burrow and stretched out.
They both came out from behind the trees at the same time. They jumped a but, startled because they didn't know I was awake yet. But a few moments later they continued walking to the burrow and placed the shirts down inside.
They came back out and Liam gave me a nod as a hello.
I nodded back, also nodding at Kate.
A little while later I went into the burrow to grab one of the shirts. I shifted and threw it on over my shoulders.
"Liam, Kate!" I call. A few moments later a see their little wolves running up to me. "In a few minutes we gotta keep moving. We'll probably be walking for about a week at least until we get someplace warmer. Tomorrow I'll hunt for something so we can eat. Got it?"
They both nodded their heads.
I shifted back after I tied both shirts around my waist.
I motioned for them to follow me. They hurriedly chased after me to catch up.
The, once again, we walked.
*5 days later*
Liam and Kate were getting closer each day. It's nice for him to finally have someone else to hang out with. And it's even greater that they're almost the same age.
I had a lot of free time due to Liam and Kate hanging out a lot. The weather has gotten pretty warm. Every mile we walked seemed like the temperature got warmer.
Instead of the average temperature being around 30 degrees (F) it was more like 50, maybe even 60 degrees.
Since the cold isn't a concern anymore Kate and Liam have been using the shirts almost all the time to talk to each other. Sometimes I would shift and put one of the shirts on so I could relay a message or something like that.
They were still in wolf form when we walked and when we slept, but when we were at one spot for more than a minute they wouldn't stop talking to each other, hanging out in the low branches of a maple tree.
Kate really warmed up to us pretty fast, considering what she's been through. Which I didn't even really know the details but I want to give her time before I ask her.
I was watching Kate and Liam talk when a sudden memory flooded into my head.
It was a summer afternoon, Liam was climbing a tree with our dad. My mom was in the kitchen cooking her famous brownie bars.
"Sammy! Come here!" Liam whined from the tree.
I was in the middle of reading my book. I didn't want to.
"Later Liam!"
He started to whine but my dad quickly threw him over his shoulder and climbed higher in the tree.
I smiled at the sight. I looked down, continuing to read my book.
"New Siblings? A Guide to Entertaining and Taking Care or Your New Sibling"
Mom was 7 months pregnant with a baby girl. Liam was so excited, and believe me, I was too, but I was also worried. Lately rogues and other packs have been ambushing our pack more often in the past few months then the last decade.
I wanted to be ready to protect and take care of her, Sydney was her name. Mom and Dad decided yesterday.
Sydney. I would protect her and Liam with my life.
I blinked back tears at the memory. I shook my head and got up. I let out a little howl, telling Liam I needed the shirt.
Reluctantly he took it off and gave it to me. Now him in his wolf. When we were young he'd always say how excited he was to get his wolf.
"I want to get a wolf just Like you Sammy! One with a cool name like yours too!"
Liam would say.
Oma was her name. She's been silent for a full month now.
She's been gone before, but not this long.
Liam's wolf, Seth, was very powerful considering their young age.
Liam loved his wolf like a brother, well I guess in a way they sorta were. Liam would nonstop talk about him the first few weeks after he finally shifted.
I made out a little howl, letting Liam know I needed to say something. He hurriedly shifted and gave me the shirt. I quickly shifted and put the shirt on so I could relay the message.
"We're gonna keep moving, I think by the end of today or tomorrow wee can find a place to settle down for a while."
"Can we have a place by a pond? I like swimming." Kate stated.
"Sure, if we find a good spot by a pond or maybe even a lake we'll take it."
She smiled and nodded.
"Anyway, I think that's all. Let's move."
I said.
Kate went and shifted and gave me her shirt. I took mine off then tied them both around my waist and shifted.
I started walking and they immediately followed me.
I smiled to my self.
Today or tomorrow we can finally find a place to stay.
At least for a little bit.
By the way they can still shift and all even when their wolves aren't 'present' They can usually keep there human mind in control when they shift.
