Sage took note of all the turns and number of lights they went through while driving, paying attention to where he came from and where he was going. Sitting in the passenger seat of his truck was something he's never experienced. He was always shoved in the back of some SUV, car, or party bus. Depending on the kind of night he was expected to have he may or may not have his eyes covered so he didn't know where he was going at all. Mind clear enough to be able to retain the information too.
He vaguely remembered the large room he was told to wait in once they got to where they were going. The scent was familiar mostly it was the den of alphas he got dragged into. That same panic rising in his chest again wanting to run but remembering Colt's orders. Waiting as calming as he could for him to return. He had disappeared into a room in the back and had been there for a good while.
"Come." Commented Colt when he did finally stepped out, motioning for him to come in.
The two of them switched off, however, Colt was a lot more relaxed in the main area than he had been. Sipping on a beer when his father Mike waved him back in over an hour later. The three of them sitting in his office.
"So Sage tells me you've been nice to him."
Colt gave a glance to Sage, his father got something out of him.
"We both know nice isn't you." Even if he placed them together to benefit each other Mike knew that his son wasn't nice as Sage had stated.
He was broody and short-tempered, slowly drowning from the huge chip on his shoulder.
"Nice for me, Sir." Sage spoke up softly.
Minus the first night where he tried to go after him with a knife Colt was nice to him, cold and short with anger towards him but nice and the anger he did show was well deserved.
"See." Colt commented motioning to Sage in agreement, "I can be nice."
Mike leaned back in his chair looking at the two of them. It was a while before he spoke up, "I want him to keep staying with you for now. He's too weak to be here alone or among the others."
Colt huffing at his father's words it was something he already could have guessed, he was going to be stuck with Sage. Mike knew his pack and being weak wasn't anything anyone of them took lightly, even omegas were expected to stand their ground.
"Not counting the fact that he's seen as . . .special to some." Mike putting strain on the word special.
The word special could go either way depending on who you talked to. Just because they were trying to change gears didn't mean the old ways still didn't go on at times. Mike mindful of the fact that some alpha's within his racks would love to get their paws on something as rare as Sage here.
"Once you're feeling better will have another talk and go from there."
"Yes, Sir."
"And you keep being nice." Mike's tone showed he still didn't fully believe either one of them.
Colt nodded as he motioned for Sage to come.
"Also," added Mike, "Our monthly pack run is next week. Come if you want just stick in with Colt. Don't worry about the rank for now."
Both Sage and Colt looked at him with an expression of shock on their faces the monthly run was only for members and you didn't break ranking. Sage nodded while Colt shut the door with a hard pull not saying anything.
"You're staying home as far as I'm concerned."
Colt wasn't about to spend his one night of freedom still surrounded by the little pup, he already had enough of him. Telling himself just a little longer. Now that his detoxing was over all he needed was to put on some weight and he would be good to go.
Sage was honestly skin and bones, well underweight. This didn't help him heal any faster, even with all the good meals he's been getting since he's come to be with Colt he could only eat but so much before he became full and had to stop.
The main room had filled up some since Sage first went into the office, sticking close to Colt until he was ripped up from the floor with a quick pull, whelping out of fear. This was it just as he let his guard down a little he was going to be taken back.
"Tank put him down," Colt commented nonchalantly, as he looked over his shoulder.
"I was just playing around."
Tank sat Sage back on his feet causing him to step wrong and bump into Colt slightly. Tank was just as old as Colt but still acted very childlike, only getting serious at times that called for him to be, otherwise, he was all laughs. So the complete opposite of Colt but still managed to be his best friend.
"You're looking a lot better, still so wittle though."
Sage looked up at Colt before he spoke up, "Thanks."
He could only imagine what he might have looked like the last time he was in here. Part of him still felt that this was all some crazy dream of his, maybe he was dead and this was his version of heaven. If he thought about it, it wouldn't be that hard to believe. His heaven nothing more than a pack that wanted to accept him. Colt was easy on the eyes, Sage's dream alpha, attitude and all. Minus the one fact that Colt couldn't stand him, so maybe this wasn't heaven.
Matt walked up to the three of them as he entered the clubhouse, dark eyes on Sage, "Good you see you up on your feet."
Sage sniffing lightly at Matt's scent as he got close to him, it was a scent he felt he knew but couldn't place. The smell put a bad feeling in his gut so much that he took a step behind Colt.
"I was just telling him he looks a hell of a lot better." Tank glancing at Matt then back to Sage.
Colt noticed the sudden shift in Sage after Matt came up not thinking too heavily about it he personally didn't like the guy either. So Sage getting the same vibe wasn't odd.
