The turn came up just as Sam had said. James turned right and the friends were certain they were almost there. Sam returned to petting Marvin while chatting with Nina, who had been pretty quiet and was reading a book during the drive.

“I can’t wait for you guys to meet my aunt.” Callie said happily. “A lot of people say she and I could practically be twins.”

“We can’t wait to meet her. It was really nice of her to invite us to your family picnic.” Nina smiled as she looked up from her book.

“She said it was no problem. After all, you guys are like family to me. I talk about you all so much she’s dying to meet you. So don’t be surprised if she asks a bunch of questions. That’s just how she is.” Callie said.
