I was so tired when I laid down that I fell right to sleep. I slept like a rock when I was drunk. When I woke up in the morning, I did not expect to be lying there with someone next to me as I'd gone to sleep by myself. I woke up and Nate from last night was laying on the inside of the couch with his arm around my waist. I know I had a strange dream, but this was way too much. I sprung up from the couch. I was confused and embarrassed.
Taz and Helen walked into the Livingroom after they realized I was awake. Taz boasted that he'd taken a picture of me cheating on Asher and sent it to him in the middle of the night. He showed me the picture and what he wrote with it. I was furious! He just sealed the deal on the end of my relationship with Asher.
How could he do that to me?! Why didn't he stop this guy from climbing on the couch with his sister?! was my dream real or did this person really touch me while I was sleeping? Why did Taz encourage this instead of stopping it? Did Taz hate me this much for dating his bestfriend?
Nate left, realizing he wasn't meant to be there anymore. Taz and I went back and forth for a few hours. I cleaned myself up and got my hat, hoodie, and shoes on to leave when Taz walked up to me and leaned down into my face. "You're a whore, just like mom." he said to me in a calm and antagonizing way as he smacked my hat off of my head.
My rage and malice for Taz had burst through the flood gates. I'd had more than enough which me to black out. I came to when Taz punched me to the floor. He picked me up and slammed me on the concrete over and over until Helen stopped him. I jumped up grabbed my hat and back pack, then walked out the door to leave his house.
I walked aimlessly around town calling Asher who thought I deserved what just happened, my bestie from school who was currently working, and my mother who was also working. My mother left her job to come pick me up. I hated Taz and never wanted to see him, but she brought me back to deliberate all of the fighting. She made us tie up the loose ends and took me to the hospital. She thought Taz might have broken my cheek or jaw, but the X-rays came back fine. My next problem was returning to school in a few days. I still had three weeks left and the left side of my face was black and red. My eye was bright red and there was no possible way to cover it all.
People in my classes and my friends were shocked. No one believed the lies I told and my English teacher cornered me in the bathroom to tell me if I ever felt like I was in danger to come to her home down the road. She was kind. I accepted and let the rest go. Over the next few weeks I took my senior pictures and graduated from both my high school and tech school.
Things started looking up as Asher and I started talking again. He realized after Taz had confessed that I was innocent and didn't do what Taz led him to believe. I was spending so much time with Taz and my friends from school that I hadn't seen much of Paige. We had our peaks and valleys over the years and we were just coming from a valley. Taz would never gain any forgiveness from me, so I avoided him. Paige spent a lot of her time with her bestfriend from our high school. Her name was Marley. Paige met her before she switched to homeschooling.
Paige, Marley, and I spent that whole summer together. When I wasn't with them, I was working or dating Asher. I started driving a van and working for a hometown graphic design business. I was really having fun when Asher started to cancel plans on me every time we made them. He was acting the same way he did before we broke up last time. By this time it was fall and my summer graphics job was coming to a close. Id managed to get a job at the local Walfart. The things I went through to pass the drug test were absolutely unbelievable.
My mother left to move to Florida at that time, too. I was still living in her house, so she decided to leave the house to my uncle and brother. I stayed with them for a matter of three days before I packed and left. Paige let me live with her once again. About two months later I found out that my brother and uncle had abandoned my mothers house. They broke windows and furniture, left the faucet on for the hose. I took over and tried to reverse the damage they'd done.
I couldn't do it on my own though. I didn't make enough money, so I asked Asher if he would move in with me. He agreed and I thought I was dreaming! Living with Asher turned out to be difficult in the end. He was hardly home when he wasn't working and wouldn't tell me where he'd been. I came down with a urinary tract infection that manifested into a kidney infection. I was in pain, but no one noticed and I couldn't afford the hospital bills.
One night Asher did come home and couldn't wake me up. From what he told me, he had to carry me to his car so I could go to the emergency room. I remember hallucinating. I had gone septic and the infection was raring to kill me. I spent four days in the hospital and went home with a bunch of medications to reverse the damage.
I decided I could no longer work a job without health insurance, so Paige took me to the nursing home that she worked in. When I first walked through the door, I had no clue what I was going to be doing or working with. The very first thing I noticed though was a very hyper, red haired man with exuberant amount of charisma. Paige stopped to talk to him for a minute to find out where her mother was. His name was Jax and he was very memorable to me.
I applied and got the job and an aide. I still had to wait for insurance, but i worked wit a lot of fun people. I also got to work with Jax who was fun and kind. He was a complete 180 on what I was used to from men. I didn't do anything inappropriate with him though as I was still with Asher. Meanwhile, with Asher, things were getting worse by the day. He and Paige had come out to me that they were dating behind my back.
