Dustin's heart was racing not knowing really what he was going to face once he walked through those doors again. A place he used to see as his home. The only home he ever really had growing up. He now questioned if he even wanted to go there at all. Nervously brushing his hand through his hair over and over. The sides of his head grown out longer than he liked them to be.
Tink touched his arm lightly as if she could see how he was feeling another six senses of hers. The few beers he drank did cause him to feel more relaxed about the night. Stepping out of the car getting a few waves from what he assumed were new guys not recognizing any of their faces.
Once inside he was swarmed with people. The music quickly being drowned out by the sound of voices. All the guys he used to run with came up to him giving him a quick hug telling him how glad they were to have him back. How much they can’t wait for him to get back in his role there with them.
The women tended to linger a little longer. Holding onto his frame feeling along his carved out arms. A few smiling up at him with extra intent in their eyes before walking away. Most of who he recalled from his teenage years.
Breaking away from the overload of people he moved off towards the back of the building finding the table that was set up with just about every liquor one could ask for. Kegs at either end sitting in a large tub of ice. Picking up a red solo cup from the table making his way over to the end near one of the kegs. Quickly having the cup plucked from his hands.
“Let me!” Said a soft voice from behind him coming into view.
Letting his eyes scan over the curvy form as she bent over. The manner in which she leaned forward Dustin saw as nothing more than a 'check me out'. While filling his cup to the brim skimming the foam off the top with her finger. Licking that finger off before handing his cup back. He assumed by the look on his face she got the idea he didn’t know who she was.
“Don’t tell me you don’t recognize me, Dustin.” She smiled.
Giving him a little twirl. Long tone legs for her height dress in a short skirt. Full chest, sun-kissed blonde hair, and crystal blue eyes. Scanning every memory he possibly had of a hot blonde nothing ringing a bell to him.
Taking a long sip of the beer she poured him.
“Nope, am I supposed to?” He questioned.
Dustin didn’t have a clue who she was but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to find out. She gave him a pouty look before pouring herself a beer. She felt that look alone should have given it away to him. It was something she always did as a child.
“Will I don’t think Mike would like to hear that his best friend doesn’t remember his little sister.”
Dustin almost spit the beer out that he had in his mouth at her words. She saw that and started giggling at that. He would have never guessed that.
“Little Dannielle! I don’t fucking believe it.”
And he didn’t she was all grown up. Fucking beautiful to say the least.
“Yep all grown up now. Most call me just Danni now but yeah.” She spoke.
Danni surely knew Dustin, smiling at him. A little upset that he didn’t recognize her though a lot has changed with her since the last time he had eyes on her. For instance, puberty happened. Feeling her cheeks become hot as he gave her another once over. That little girl crush feeling coming back to her.
“So you’re what twenty-one now?”
“Not yet, next month. Well three weeks if you want to be precise.”
She smiled again. Dustin had always liked her smile. It was one of those honest true smiles. One that would light up any room she walked into. His thoughts were pulled from her smile as he felt a large heavy clap on his back causing him to jump forward a bit.
“Damn Dustin! Someone has been hitting the weights.”
Mike stood beside him squeezing the top of his shoulder with a strong grip. Mike didn’t stand much taller than him at 6’2.
“Not much else to do.” Spoke Dustin.
“Well, I’ll see you around then.” Commented Danni, before she flashed a quick smile and walked off.
Dustin's eyes watching her as she moved away. Catching her as she looks back at him before joining a group of girls in the corner of the club.
Mike taking her place in front of him. Drinking his beer, “Man, I’m glad to have you back. And I’m not just saying that. I’ve missed you, man.”
Dustin gave a weak smile. Trying his best not to let his eyes wander off too far from Mike. Having a good feeling he wouldn’t be too fond of him checking out his little, well not so little anymore, sister.
“It’s good to be back.” Semi lied, Dustin, working on his beer.
Mike smiled leaning in a little closer to him. Dustin couldn’t help but notice that caused a few heads to turn in their direction.
“I know what you did for us taking that hit. None of us here take it lightly at all. We’d much rather have you out here with us. So if there’s anything I can do just let me know. Ight?”
Dustin just gave a nod confirming he understood as thoughts of the past started to flood in. He didn’t get locked up from them. He got locked up for Mike. Something he’s seemed to have forgotten for a long while now.
Mike sounded more cheerful, “Cause after all I call all the shots around here now.”
Both of them look each other in the eye before giving out a laugh. Mike leaning over picking up a bottle of Jim holding it up.
“Shots?”
“When have I ever said no?”
Mike quickly poured out a shot for each of them, glasses clanking together before tossing them back; and then another and another.
After all, tonight was for him. Why not get drunk and make the party a real party. Getting wasted and laid didn’t sound like too bad of a plan to him. Soon other Sons started to join in. The group of them quickly finishing off the bottle in no time moving onto the next one.
Laughs growing louder along with voices around him. Feeling the liquor pulse through him quickly becoming shocked by all the commotions around him finding a moment in which he could back out and not be noticed by the rest. Moving off to the back door. Dipping outside where the cool night air rushed over him fading out the noise behind him.
Sitting down on the edge of what he always considered to be a pouch in the back as he finished off the beer in his hand. Arms draping over his knees as he looked up at the night sky seeing the stars for the first time in years. So far everything felt and appeared to be the same here causing him to question even more if he has changed.
“Out here all alone when your party is inside?”
Noise once again fading in and out as the door opens. Not looking back just lifting his empty cup showing he was enjoying his party of one outside. Danni’s fingers slipped his cup from his hand as he held it up replacing it with her own.
“Water, really?” He questioned, disgusted with the new replacement.
“I saw you in there pounding them back. You’ll thank me in the morning.” Spoke Danni. Sitting down next to him stretching her legs out along the few steps.
She doubted he drank like that in prison watching him just chug about a whole bottle himself in about an hour or so. That wasn’t good for anyone. Part of her didn’t blame him for doing it nor did she judge him either.
“Ah, so you’re looking out for me.” His tone a little sour and slurred. Someone wanted to look out for him now.
Looking over at her he could see that she didn’t care for it either.
“You haven’t changed one bit, have you? Still wearing the same things too.” Danni laughed, covering her mouth with her hand hiding her smile.
“You can thank Tink for that. She even found my old boots for me.” He spoke looking down at them wondering how many fights he got in with this pair.
Dustin was a creature of habit when it came to clothes. He liked to keep things simple; black tee shirts, dark blue jeans, boots. The two of them grew quiet both looking up at the stars. Hearing her sigh Dustin looks in her direction.
Seeing two of her sitting there next to him now. The outline of her swaying in and out. One the real her and the other floated just off of her real form. Feeling like everything he drank tonight just hit him all at once.
