"We will leave at dawn. By the end of tomorrow we can find a nice place by a pond." I say looking over at Kate and smiling. "And a place that is warm. Hopefully a good distance by a town, close enough were it wont take a full day to walk there, but far enough away so that no one can smell us. Got it?"
They nodded their heads eagerly. We just settled down. It's a little past dusk now, the sky was an arrange of purples, pinks, and oranges.
The trees were a little less dense where we are. Usually we barely could see the sky.
"Ok guys, we should go to bed since we're getting up early tomorrow."
They nodded their heads once again in response and huddled up under a tree together. After shifting I joined them under the tree and fell asleep.
I woke up a little before dawn. Kate and Liam were asleep beside me. I woke them up and we started moving.
Part of the time we walked, Liam and Kate were in there human forms and talking. It's fun to see them interact. They usually talk about kinds of toys they like or favorite things. They played I spy for a little bit, but there wasn't much around besides trees so that ended quickly.
"Do you know how to climb trees? We usually stay up in a tree!" Liam says to Kate after a few moments of silence between the two.
"I think so. I had a tree house but it had a latter most of the way to get up."
"Hmmm. Wanna race?"
Kate's eyes brightened and she smiled. "Yes."
Races were a constant thing with them. They did it at least ten times a day.
"Ok, but there's a twist." Liam said, causing Kate to tilt her head to the side in confusion.
"No shifting. We have to stay like this. Already know I'm a little faster than you in wolf form. But what about like this?"
"O-ok." Kate's voice might be weak right now, but I can see the determination in her eyes.
"Ok line up here." Liam says, pointing to a root in the ground. "Run for a while then I'll call out where the finish line will be, ok?" Kate nods her head. "On your mark, get set, GO!"
They took of ahead. I quickened my pace to a jog to semi keep up with them. As I tried to keep up with them I could see the woods getting denser.
I started running a little faster but before I knew it I lost sight of them. I started looking around frantically trying to find traces of them. They ran so fast, and with the ground moist it's hard for me to pick up either of their scents.
I was frantically looking for them when I heard a scream. Kate's scream.
I started sprinting towards the screams now intertwined with Liam yelling to let them go. I ran as fast as I could towards them when suddenly a sweet smell hit me.
I instantly shook my head and continued running as I heard another scream. Tho the closer I got to them the stronger the smell got. I ignored it tho, determined to get to Liam and Kate.
"My big sis will kill you!" I heard Liam scream.
"Well I don't see her anywhere." A mans voice replied to him.
Hang on Liam. Hang on.
I was so close to where they were. But I couldn't even smell their scents because of the aroma of fresh cookies out of the oven.
I cam upon a clearing and saw three men surrounding Lim and Kate. One had Liam and the other had Kate, while the third one was just keeping guard.
I growled charging the one with Liam.
"Hey! Stop right there!" Said the empty handed one.
I pounced on the guy holding Liam, knocking him down causing his grip on Liam to loosen. While I was on him I bit his wrist making him groan in pain and completely let go of Liam.
As I went for the one holding Kate I was Liam take a few steps back and the other man shift into his wolf. His growl was deafening. I hurriedly got the one holding Kate to let go of her and she scurried over to Liam and hid behind him.
Suddenly a crashing weight knocked me over, allowing the other to men to recover and stand up. I tried to move but the wolf held me down.
"Shift now and no one gets hurt!" One of the men's booming voices spoke while the other recaptured Kate and Liam.
I growled in return, not willing to comply. Still struggling to get free under the massive wolf's weight Kate let out a little yelp.
I look over seeing her in tears and the man slowly bending a finger back. Her painful cry's were filling my head. My eyes widened. And I could only think of protecting her and Liam.
As soon as I shifted the man stopped tormenting Kate and smiled.
"Not so hard now was it?" He asked with a smug smile on his face.
"Fuck you." I spit back at him with the most venom in my voice I could muster.
"So kiddo this the 'big sis' you were talking 'bout?" The man who was holding Liam and now both of them asked.
Liam didn't answer.
The other man talked into his walkie-talkie. "Three rouges by the north-east border. Two kids, one male one female. One female young adult."
"Copy that. Take them into holding. Alpha will question them tonight."
That's when I realized we were caught by a pack. Usually I could smell that, but that intoxicating smell wouldn't leave me alone.
'SAMANTHA!'
'Wait? Oma?'
'The one and only!'
'Where in the hell have you been?' I hissed at her.
'That's not important. The important thing is that smell.'
'What about it?'
'Mate.'
'Wait what?!?!' I asked her.
'Can't talk right now, focus on the kids.'
I hadn't noticed that the once wolf was back to being a man and pulled me up from the ground. Most of his clothes were ripped, leaving him only in tattered boxers.
"Let's go." He said grabbing on to my shoulder and pushing me towards a building. I tried to cover myself as possible with my hands.
I looked over to Liam who was putting up strong front but I could tell was close to crying, and Kate who was shaking like crazy and a sobbing mess.
My heart broke at the sight
The men led us inside a fairly large building and down two flights of stairs. They walked us down a hall to a little room that looked like a large prison cell. They shoved us in there, causing Kate to fall down on her hands and knees. I growled at the men who just scoffed and walked away.
In the mostly empty room there was a bed there with a sheet covering it. I pulled it off and wrapped it around Kate and Liam, then pulled them into my arms and sitting on the bed with them.
"I-I'm sorry I couldn't protect you." My pathetic voice squeaked out.
