Emily grabbed the piping bag that was filled with pastel rainbow icing and frosted the cupcakes.
"So heading to the city in the capital state aren't you my dear?" Bob asked.
Her eyes sparkled with anticipation.
"yes."
"Well.. I will be selling this building soon.."
"Oh that's fine." She put the cupcakes in decorated paper wrappers.
"In that case.. I guess I am relieved."
"so am I"
Emily had already planned on becoming a beggar for the rest of her life on the crowded streets of a city.. She just needed to find the city.
Bob looked at her with tears in his eyes.
"This may be the last time we see eachother" He whispered.
The girl looked up from the tray.
"You've grown up so, so much. When I first saw you on new years day, you were small and pale." His voice began to quiver.
"The child was so deprived of sleep and seemed to have walked for decades-just to find somewhere to work."
She could feel her eyes watering.
"And now-she's all grown up. All full of light and energy" Emily added.
The old man looked down at his boots, "I now fear that I am kicking her back onto the streets. I, the one who was the girl's last hope."
"Are you sure you don't want to take over this bakery?" He asked her one last time.
"No. I do not."
She turned on the tap to wash her hands.
'DING DING'
The baker watched as Emily finished washing her hands and proceeded to sling her bag over her shoulder.
"Before you go, please take this"
Bob placed a thin black rectangle shaped object in her hand.
A smartphone! She realized.
"Stephine, my wife wanted buy this for you. I agreed, of course. It's completely new, it's worth a ton and it's practical, incase you need to contact anyone." He smiled at Emily.
"I've added my number in already and you can find a place with free wi-fi to do anything you want with it. You can sell it if you need to."
Emily nodded as she slid the phone into her bag and zipped it up.
"Goodbye Bob" She waved at him.
"Goodbye hermoso arbol"
The girl had no idea what that meant, but she turned and left anyways, because the bus was about to leave.
