Even though she was looking at me, it was clear that the words she had said were aimed in insurance to herself.
I felt calm after that. She looked up and turned back to the direction she was previously going, then started to walk. After a few short minutes, she had already had gotten back to a fast pace. The trees around us quickly mixed creating a blur. She took out her hand from under me and placed a finger on my nose.
The lady briefly closed her eyes and whispered under her breath.
“Shadow.”
A bright light flashed in front of my face, and my eyes shut tightly.
The words she had spoken bounced around in my head till my mind went hazy. Was this a spell? What the fudge happened? DID SHE CAST A SPELL ON ME?
Even though the darkness overtook me, I wasn't scared. I felt warm and fuzzy in the dark as if a cloak of protection was wrapped around me.
Then the next thing I knew, the sun was shining so brightly that I could barely see anything around me.
I brought my hands to my face to shield my eyes. It was easy to tell that I was in something low.
Was it a basket? That lady left me in a basket!? Though It did feel soft inside and seemed to fit my comfort perfectly. Before I could continue thinking, I surveyed my surroundings. There was a fountain. Wait, a fountain in a forest? I must be in a village!
But, where's the lady?
Where was she?
Did the thing she was running from, get to her? Did she leave me, and run away while I was asleep?
I started to pout. S-she left without a word! I felt angry. WHERE WERE MY ANSWERS?!
A person came into my view, but I couldn't see their face. From what height they were at, it seemed like the person was a giant! They bent down towards me.
I flinched. Were they going to hurt me? They picked something up; it looked like a piece of paper.
More people gathered around, and the person with the note read what was written on it aloud in a strong voice.
“Lastic Neveland”.
