This is the end.
Jin Wei's focus was completely consumed by Laurem's physical features, particularly the tiny horns adorning his forehead, that he was completely oblivious to the fact that Laurem had awoken. Jin Wei had seen his fair share of horns on men, some of which were unattractive malformations and others which were pointed, so he was not frightened off or felt strange when he saw that Laurem also had one.
He knows that Laurem is a demon, and this is an inherent trait.
In fact, he found them to be rather adorable.
How could these little horns not be cute?
Jin Wei felt an overwhelming urge to touch Laurem's delicate horns, much like the irresistible desire to stroke a fluffy rabbit's ear or pet a soft cat's head. Even at his advanced age of more than a hundred thousand years, he still found himself powerless against the allure of cute things.
He knew he should exercise some restraint, but the temptation was too great. The charm that the little horns had cast over Jin Wei had him captivated, and he was trapped in it. He surrendered to the impulse, his fingers grazing the beautiful little protrusions as if he was touching a treasure.
The protagonist is sleeping anyway. He won’t
know that he had been taken advantage by a pervert.
Usually, races that naturally grow horns are proud people, and they held their beautiful protrusions in high regard. The demon horn, like any other type of horns, was considered a highly sensitive and vulnerable part of the body. These beautiful protrusions had various functions, so it was no wonder that their owners treated them with great reverence.
To them, the horns were a symbol of their strength and heritage, and they were very protective of them and only allow their mates or family members to touch it. Strangers were strictly prohibited from coming near their horns, and any who dared to cross this boundary were inviting a fight.
As such, Jin Wei had never been given the opportunity to touch one. Doing so would be considered an act of harassment.
Jin Wei had always considered them to be miserly and ungenerous, but he never forced the issue. Instead, he held a small grudge in his heart, wondering why something as simple as a touch could be denied to him. Of course, it was just a fleeting thought. He wasn’t stupid to go against an instinctual trait.
Anyway, Jin Wei's desire to touch the horns was merely a product of his curiosity, similar to wanting to know how it feels to pet a lion. He felt a strong pull towards the horns, but once he had satisfied his urge, he knew his interest would fade, and he could continue living his life as he always had.
It was just another passing interest, a fleeting fascination that would come and go.
Jin Wei had always been a curious soul, eager to explore new experiences and sensation. And once he had quenched his thirst for knowledge, he would move on to the next thing, never dwelling on the past or letting his passion consume him.
Although it can sound cruel and cold, the majority of transmigrators believe so. They just go around the world on a mission before dying away and taking on a new identity in another realm. It is already regarded a good thing to not lose interest in something.
For a while, Jin Wei sensed a change in the child’s breathing rhythm. He glanced down with a dumb look and saw Laurem watching him with wide eyes. The werebeast's red irises glinted in the light, reflecting Jin Wei's image back at him clearly. Startled, Jin Wei quickly pulled his hand away, feeling the cold sweat creeping on his spine.
Fck- he didn't expect to be caught red-handed.
Laurem has been observing when Jin Wei was touching his horns. He had been anticipating a negative reaction from Jin Wei when he touched his horns, since it was a common response from others who would see a demon in the human territory.
However, to his surprise, Jin Wei appeared to be more intrigued and curious than repulsed by the horns. This caught Laurem off guard and made him feel more at ease around Jin Wei, knowing that he didn't view him as a monster. It made his cold heart feel very warm.
He was hesitating about Jin Wei before, but now, his feelings towards this person had become clearer.
He should really get this person no matter what happens...
As Jin Wei withdrew his hands, Laurem's eyes widened with excitement and he quickly grabbed Jin Wei's wrists. However, Jin Wei winced in pain, causing Laurem to wonder what was wrong. Upon closer inspection, he noticed some reddish marks and tiny scrapes on Jin Wei's wrist.
They looked as though they had been tightly bound with rope, leaving Laurem to wonder what kind of ordeal Jin Wei had endured when he was out.
Laurem’s voice was hoarse when he asked, “What happened?”
Jin Wei was equally confused. “You don’t remember?”
Laurem replied, still perplexed, “Remember what?”
Jin Wei is also confused. He had been running all day to tend to his sick sibling and was about to take a short break when the system suddenly alerted him that Laurem was in danger. Upon inquiring about the nature of the danger, the system informed Jin Wei that Laurem had been kidnapped by traffickers.
Jin Wei wondered how the traffickers got Laurem considering that the kid is very fierce. He can't be easily contained since he is very good at fighting and quite feisty. Just thinking about how that kid could give heavy blows makes Jin Wei wince in pain.
How can he not resist?
Though, Jin Wei no longer asked for any specifics and quickly searched for Laurem's whereabouts. Unfortunately, he too fell victim to the traffickers when he was caught prowling around. Obviously, Jin Wei struggled, but his attempts were fruitless, since the crowd outnumbered him and had the advantage.
Jin Wei is a skilled fighter, but he is still a kid, and an adult professional has far greater strength than he has. After all, fighting with four hands is preferable to fighting with two, and he was soon subdued. The traffickers shackled Jin Wei's wrists and legs firmly and locked him in a tiny container to prevent him from fleeing.
He had several escape plans, but he decided to give up when he discovered that Laurem was also aboard the vessel.
"I am here to save you. You were caught by the traffickers. I know you're good at fighting, so how did they manage to capture you?" he asked, puzzled.
He wasn’t able to understand this point.
As he looked at Laurem's face, Jin Wei noticed his cheeks were reddened. Concerned, he moved closer to feel his forehead and check for any signs of fever. Suddenly, Laurem's heart skipped a beat, caught off guard by the sudden proximity.
Their position is so close that they could have kissed!
"You feel warm... do you have a fever?" Jin Wei inquired, pulling back from Laurem. "How did this happen?" he asked, concerned for the child's well-being.
Laurem was too shy to respond, feeling embarrassed and vulnerable. He had waited for Jin Wei to arrive, and in doing so, he had ignored the changing weather. Despite his immunity, his body was still fragile and unable to withstand the harshness of nature. But before he could explain, Jin Wei had already removed his own coat and draped it over Laurem's shoulders.
The fabric of Jin Wei's coat felt soft and warm against Laurem's skin, and the scent of the older boy enveloped him, filling his senses. The overwhelming feeling of closeness and warmth made Laurem's fever feel worse, but at the same time, it made him feel protected and cared for.
"Nevermind. We still have to escape from here."
Jin Wei looked around and he noticed that they were on a train headed towards the Demon race's territory, which could be detrimental for Laurem. It was planned for the young hero to encounter a significant tutor who would teach him how to control his abilities and teach him to become a rightful person. The entire plan may fall apart if Laurem was missing from this crucial event.
Initially, Jin Wei had no stake in the plot, as he lacked the ability to change the world's fate. He could have easily let Laurem continue on his own path without intervening. However, his final mission was to save Laurem and earn a hundred percent result for his transmigration, so he had no choice but to act.
Laurem's weak state left him wobbling and slow, prompting Jin Wei to offer to carry him on his back. Though Laurem initially protested, the child eventually realized he had no choice but to accept the gesture of kindness. As Jin Wei felt the weight of the boy on his back, he couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility of wanting to protect the child.
“Don’t worry, I am here. I won’t let them harm you,” Jin Wei softly said.
There was only silence for a while before the young child in his back nodded lightly. Jin Wei chuckled then proceeded to chatting with System 777 about their state, unknowing to Laurem’s blushing cheeks. His heard raced with excitement with a prayer held under his tongue.
Somehow, he wished that time would go slower or stop, so there was no need to separate.
How he desperately wished for that.
