Lan woke up naked and pleasantly warm. The faint scent of morning dew drifted through the vents. It’s still early. His skin was usually overly overheated, but whenever Adrian held him, he could cool off. He must’ve been delirious though if he thought—
He bolted upright, the blankets falling away. Looking over, he found Adrian drowsily watching him. There was a book near his head on the pillow and a smile playing on his handsome face. The red of his eyes was fairly bright, meaning he’d eaten recently. They usually dimmed by the end of their evenings together since he’d drink Lan’s blood.
Oh no. Lan’s face crumpled with guilt and Adrian quickly gathered him into a hug.
“What’re you getting upset for, doll?” He laughed gently and the sound made Lan cling closer. “You were so brave. I’m sure you’ve been exhausted this whole time trying to keep it all inside.” Adrian’s voice softened and suddenly it sounded like he was very far away. It only lasted a moment though and then he was littering Lan’s face in kisses.
“But you invited me over to meet him.” He buried his face against Adrian’s neck, tears welling up as fragments of last night came back to him. Embarrassment quickly overwhelmed his guilt. Had he really spilled his life story to the Ringleader in a desperate fit of nerves and then promptly passed out?
Adrian seemed to follow his silent train of thought. Urging Lan’s head up, he gazed into his eyes, foreheads brushing. “Kallum adores you, sweetheart. You’re exactly what he hoped you’d be. Don’t feel bad.”
“He didn’t hate me?” Lan rasped, memories hazy from too many emotions spilling over.
“My Ringleader wants you dearly,” Adrian assured. “If you’ll have him, he’ll take you in a heartbeat.” He kissed Lan gently, coaxing him closer with each nibble and flick of his tongue.
Slowly, the root of this entire snap decision came back to him.
Lan hadn’t slept so fitfully in a long time and his chest finally felt light. The grogginess in his brain made everything process sluggishly, but now that he was awake, things were coming into focus. The murders.
Reluctantly pulling back from Adrian, he sighed miserably. Was this really the right path? Involving the Ringleader would mean putting him and Delirium in direct opposition to Valentine and Lycan law. Why should Night Children put themselves in such a position for a pitiful wolf?
The more Lan thought about it, the more ridiculous he felt.
Maybe he’d really been fucked silly by Adrian over the last few weeks. Maybe the nauseating stench of Clair de Lune fooled him into believing there was a way out. Maybe it was time he treated this little taste of freedom as a fond memory—one that could carry him through the rest of his life under Nyx’s control.
Would it be so bad?
Shudders wracked his body at the mere thought of it. Lan tried to shake it off, but the feeling of despair, defilement, and humiliation wouldn’t leave him. Distance had numbed the pain, but the moment he thought of seriously returning to it, his head spun.
“Lan.”
He jerked, eyes refocusing.
Adrian touched his cheek. “Don’t underestimate Kallum. He has his own reasons for wanting you to join us. It’s worth considering him seriously.”
It was actually comforting to know he’d have some sort of value in the Ringleader’s eyes. In some amorphous fantasy, Lan could be useful to someone who would touch him fondly. He could repay the kindness of a creature willing to chase off his nightmares.
But.
“I will.”
Adrian smiled at him, but it was strained. Maybe even frustrated. Lan wilted at the idea of making him feel anything but good things and yet he couldn’t say anything more convincing.
“You don’t owe me anything. You’ve already given me more than I could ever ask for,” Lan mumbled, the words spilling out easier than before. Gazing into Kallum’s eyes and hearing his voice had broken something in Lan.
His emotions felt raw. They were open wounds that would fester if he didn’t speak freely. It was different from the experience of melting into Adrian’s embrace upon first meeting.
The Ringleader didn’t have a scent. He was like a void, taking in more and more and more without returning anything. Lan only saw darkness. For others, that would be terrifying. For him, it looked peaceful. Quiet. A comfortable place to rest for a while.
“I can’t bring you into this.” Lan rubbed his aching head. “I’m the reason those people are dead. How can I ask someone else to clean up this mess for me? They died because I did something wrong. I ran away and used Humans as shields—”
“—and the wolves approve of this? They kill innocent people to get their way?” Adrian interrupted, expression frigid. His tone wasn’t warm and easy like usual. It cut deep and promised awful things.
Lan bit his lip, eyes darting away. “I’m not sure. Some of us are violent though. Maybe killing Humans isn’t okay but coming after me is in the law.”
“Tell me if I’m overstepping,” he began carefully, reaching down to take Lan’s hand, “but you said the one who claimed you is a terrible wolf. What do you really think is going to happen if you return?”
Adrian nipped at Lan’s inner wrist, lashes lowering and red irises glowing in the lamplight. “Will your scars increase? Will you suffer?” He dug his teeth in. Lan gasped, pleasure surging through his body. Adrian licked the wound shut after a second. “Will I see you again?”
He couldn’t answer.
A humorless laugh tumbled from Adrian’s lips. He pushed Lan back against the sheets, hovering over him. Adrian’s intoxicating scent enveloped him, and Lan turned his face into the soft bed without thinking.
“We’ve barely gotten to know each other yet, doll,” he drawled warmly, a stark contrast to the coldness in his gaze. It wasn’t directed at Lan though. This felt far away and for an enemy much closer than either of them would’ve liked.
Adrian spread Lan’s legs and nestled between them. Pushing his thighs up, Adrian kissed one trembling leg. “I haven’t tasted you nearly enough.”
“Me neither,” Lan breathed, feeling boneless.
“I haven’t shown you my favorite books.” He smiled against Lan’s hip. “Have you ever watched a T.V. show? Seen a movie?”
Lan shook his head, not trusting himself to do anything other than moan and whimper for attention. More praise. More sweet doting.
“Then we’re in agreement.” Adrian drifted down, lapping up the sticky mess dripping between his wolf’s legs. “It’s too early to part ways.”
If he was less distracted, maybe he’d argue. Right now though, Adrian was making a lot of sense and currently doing wonderful things with his tongue. Lan dug his teeth into a pillow, stifling a pathetic, needy sound.
“Let me spoil you for a while,” he murmured, kissing up the base of Lan’s swelling length as he slipped a finger inside. “You ever get this wet for anyone else, doll?” Adrian pushed a second finger in, and Lan gladly opened up for him, legs spreading wider.
He shook his head a bit, releasing the pillow. “No. N-Never.”
Adrian hummed with pleasure, licking slick coated fingers. “Of course not. You only get like this for me, don’t you?”
Lan whined, hips bucking up at the loss.
“You’re always such a good boy,” Adrian praised, tugging down the waistband of his pants and pressing his aching hard-on against Lan’s twitching hole. He leaned down, kissing and sucking at the rough skin of Lan’s neck. “You deserve to be spoiled. Cared for. Taking me in every day and night so I can treat you right.”
Lan gasped at the stretch, eyes growing wet from pleasure. “Yeah, take care of me,” he babbled, begging incoherently as Adrian buried himself inside. Lan’s nails grew and he dug them into Adrian’s back, relishing in the aching stretch.
“That’s right, sweetheart,” he sighed, sliding out slowly only to slam back in roughly. “Just relax and let me spoil you.”
Lan cried out, falling apart as Adrian hooked his legs over his shoulders and started a brutal pace. It was perfect though. Exactly what he wanted to be woken up with. His vision glazed over as heat coiled in his belly.
The soft coos and sweet nothings filled his chest with warmth while Adrian set the rest of his body aflame. Every slap of their hips and shared gasp pushed Lan closer to the edge. He could no longer decide if he wanted to climax or not. It felt like heaven existed in this moment and perhaps he could make it last forever if he tried hard enough.
Adrian touched his leaking cock though, and it all ended in a second. As his body cooled down, everything became too sensitive, but Adrian continued fucking him just as roughly. Lan loved this particular sensation though and they both knew that after so many nights together.
He tried to bury his increasingly loud moans in the pillows, but Adrian stopped him with a gentle hand in his hair. Lan submitted to sloppy, panting kisses, eyes fluttering shut.
After what could’ve been a lifetime or only mere moments, Adrian stilled, hips jerking faintly as he came hard and long, hot liquid spilling deep inside Lan.
When he reluctantly slid free a minute later, Lan moaned in disappointment.
“Wish I could be with you all the time,” Adrian murmured, huffing a small laugh. He pressed a lazy kiss against Lan’s forehead, keeping him close. “Just the sweetest, aren’t you?”
He hugged Adrian tightly, heart pounding hard and fast. Stay with you. Wanna stay with you forever. Lan couldn’t voice the desperate thought, but he wished Adrian would understand.
