A few days had gone by since Alec walked home from school with Nick. He replayed the words that he had been told over and over again. He still couldn’t understand why. What could he have done to make Nick say that? He tried to get Filipe to tell him what he knew. But he didn’t get anything out of him.
Which meant he was going to have to work things out on his own.
Alec sighed as he went to class. The moment that Alec walked into the classroom, everyone turned towards him. He stopped halfway through the door at the sudden attention. There was something that made him regret being there.
"Hey." Kyle quickly got up and pulled him out of the room. "How are you doing?"
"What's going on?"
"Nothing." Kyle forced a smile as he continued to take Alec away. “Everything’s good.”
"Kyle." Alec forced him to stop. "You're a terrible liar, so tell me. What’s really going on?"
"Okay." Kyle pulled him into a corner. "You know I'm on your side. Always."
"Yeah, I know. Now stop running around in circles and tell me."
Kyle hesitated for a moment, looking around before sighing.
"Felicity is saying you guys broke up… because you cheated on her." Alec's eyes widened. "Look, I know it’s not true, but…"
Alec cut Kyle off as he started to run. Kyle cried out, but Alec wouldn't listen to him though. He was angry.
He headed to a classroom down the hall and stopped in the doorway. He looked around and found a group of girls huddled around Felicity, who was crying. Alec walked in, and one of the girls spotted him. She put herself in his path, stopping him.
"You're despicable." She said, almost spitting it at him.
Alec ignored her. He didn’t care what she had to say. He gently pushed her away and headed towards Felicity. He stopped in front of her desk. He wanted to yell. He wanted to fling her desk across the room. But he held it all in, just letting his rage boil below the surface.
"Really?" Alec looked at her. She had tears in her eyes, but she was cold. He knew that this was all an act. It was as clear as day. "You didn't get what you wanted, and now you're telling people that I cheated on you." Felicity dried her tears. "I have no idea what you're planning. But no matter what, I will never go back to you."
Felicity just stared at him. Giving him that look that told him that she had won. That she would get exactly what she wanted. It disgusted him. He couldn't believe he had ever once wanted to be with her. Alec turned around and walked out. He couldn't be in that room with her anymore.
As he stepped into the hallway, he saw Nick. They stared at each other a moment, and then Nick walked off without saying a word.
It only made things worse. It made the small ball in his stomach grow larger to the point that he felt ill.
"Alec." Kyle caught up to him. "Are you okay?"
"No." Alec shook his head. "I can't be here."
"Okay. What do you want to do?"
Alec looked down and just started to walk away while Kyle just stood there. Nothing mattered anymore. Everything was getting out of control.
"Alec?" It wasn't Kyle's voice. Alec looked up to see Lukas staring at him. "Are you okay?"
"No."
“Do you want to talk about it?”
Alec opened his mouth but quickly closed it and lowered his head. Lukas stared at him. He didn't press any further. It's what Alec liked about him. He had confided in him a few times before, and whenever he did, Lukas never pushed. He just let Alec tell him what he needed to.
Lukas dug in his pockets. He pulled out a set of keys and handed them over to Alec.
"I'll text you my address. My mom's not home, so you can chill there if you need to."
Alec stared at reached for the keys.
"Thanks."
Lukas smiled and went on his way. Alec looked at the keys and started to walk towards the exit. Nothing was going his way. Felicity had turned him into the bad guy, and the one person he wanted to talk to more than anything in the world wouldn't speak to him anymore. His life was spiraling out of control, and he didn't know what to do anymore.
Alec went to Lukas' place after receiving the text with the address. Lukas lived close to the school, so it didn't take him long to get there. When he entered the apartment, he went to the room that Lukas told him was his. He lay on the bed and closed his eyes. He just wanted to forget everything that was happening behind the apartment walls.
