Morkana’s hatred of Flamewing was being pushed away by her conscience. She knew what it was to separate a kid from a loving parent, even if said parent had made many mistakes, and trust me, I have made many mistakes.

Morkana: “Tsk. She will be living here too, but as leverage. She will have a future as long as you respect our oath, ‘hero’.” (35)

Morkana walked away without looking back, leaving Flamewing with a lot of pain and confusion.

Flamewing: “I am sorry.”

While Flamewing walked down the many stairs that led to the Grand Plaza, Morkana was sitting on her chair and crying. (36)

Morkana: “I loved you so much, you big idiot! I really fucking loved you, Arther!”

Morkana’s grief was so great she forgot to turn off her communications and more than 400 Bird leaders heard her cry for hours. Most of them felt really sad about Morkana, and the elite group that followed her from the start were already planning how to punish Flamewing for being a cheating fuckboy (37).

Before we finish this chapter, let’s speak about the elephant in the room:

You will question why this is a love story if it begins with a couple breaking up and only working together because of an oath. Well, this is a love story, but I also said this was a story about family, friendship and reconciliation (38).

EXT. IMPERIAL INTERSTELLAR PORT - DAY

The third main character in this story is Helen Arkwing-Flamewing and she is just a 3 year old toddler who misses her mom, but I am sure her story is going to be awesome. She and her cloaked guardian waited for her father’s return.

Helen: “I am hungry!”

???: “YOU ATE ALL THE SNACKS.”

Helen: “Where’s daddy?”

???: “HE WENT TO GET A JOB FROM HIS EX.” (39)

Helen: “What’s an ex?”

???: “THE PERSON HE DATED BEFORE YOU WERE BORN.”

Helen: “But daddy loves mommy.”

???: “SHE IS GONE.” (40)

Helen may have been 3 years old, but she knew what her guardian meant. She saw when her own mother passed away.

Helen: “Is Miss Ex my new mommy?”

???: “NO COMMENT.”

Flamewing: “Helen!”

The sight of her raggedy father made Helen jump with joy.

Helen: “Daddy!”

And so ends this first chapter, with a family of three preparing to move from an old ship to the palace of the capital, where a grumpy and busty woman was preparing creative ways to make her ex lover suffer. If you have read the webcomic Mork you know what happens to these characters, so no spoilers in whatever comment section there is. Also, there’s an annoying demon lady writing her unwanted notes throughout the narrative. Please ignore her since she doesn’t respect storytelling as an art (41).
