She awoke once again from her hunger, looking around for a possible snack for the time being.
The streets of the city was buzzing with activity, as people of all types roamed in such a crowded place.
Right next to Emily, was a lit up convenience store that looked like it must have something that her budget could afford. It had seemed as if her ability to cope with an empty stomach had decreased because of the free pastries Bob would offer everyday...
She went through her pockets to find the remaining coins the girl had brought for the trip, bringing out a total of six dollars, probably enough to get her a packet of chips and maybe a water refill.
Looking at her coins, Emily considered stealing a packet so she could also get water but thought otherwise when she noticed the security cameras pointed right at her.
The city's bound to be more heavy in security with this many people She told herself.
Walking past the automatic sliding doors, the girl found the convenience store to be much emptier than expected. She rushed to the snacks aisle to grab a large packet of chips, however, they were actually priced at the exact amount of money she had.
Emily was so desperate that she was about to refill her bottle and make a run for it but she noticed someone who was watching her intently.
Whoever this guy is, he must be suspicious of me.
"Nice day today huh?" Emily murmured.
The man glared at her for a moment before flashing a pair of perfectly straight set of teeth, snickering quietly.
"woah that's some nice gnashes" The girl joked, rolling her eyes.
He frowned.
"it's a compliment, you know."
His eyes seemed to smile although his eyebrows were still confused.
Emily began to walk away because of her hunger as she quickly grabbed a packet of chips to buy, but the man from previously suddenly stopped her.
"Don't tell me your getting those" he pointed at the bag she was holding.
"You let me do my thing, and I let you do your thing" She glared at the beetroot salad in his hand.
"No wonder you look like a stringy french fry" The man snapped in response.
That was enough to silence Emily, as she stared at his spiky hair that made quite a resemblance to a birds nest, although it was as black as charcoal.
Then the girl heard a sigh.
"Just get this and don't be so whinny" he spoke in a slightly softer voice.
She looked at the packaged sandwich and checked for the price.
"Uh.. Well I don't think I really.." Emily fidgeted with her coins.
In sudden realization of what she meant, he reached for his own pockets, pulling out a whole ten dollars in cash, three dollars more than the price of the sandwich itself.
"Good enough?"
The girl didn't respond.
"Hey?.."
"Why were you looking at me weirdly before?" She blurted out, before squinting at him in suspicion.
"You can find me looking at people weirdly before grabbing a pair of handcuffs out of nowhere and punching them to the ground eh?"
"You're about to arrest me."
"Wish I could of how suspicious your acting, but can't cause you didn't do a thing." He smirked.
she felt a sudden need to know where he worked.. And she couldn't understand why.
