The Trespasser and the Architects of Dreams

Whatever Happened To The Trespasser?

Whatever Happened To The Trespasser?

Jan 20, 2021

It's been awhile, hasn't it?

Well, here's the thing. Trespasser was meant to develop into a long story that I'd update every week. But it didn't attract the eyeballs I thought it would. Even now the views are absolutely piddling. What killed my desire to continue was it becoming a staff pick, which increased views...not at all.

I suppose I should be happy I got selected, but I think they just pick things off an algorithm or something. If someone on the staff actually liked the story, they would have at the least subscribed, right? It was just sort of humiliating to get featured and for it to amount to nothing and it broke my desire to continue. It told me I was wasting my time.

So I decided to stop and refocus my energy on other projects. Will the Trespasser ever return? I do like the character. I'd love to rework things and try again. There's a lot of sophomoric stuff I don't like about the story. It's too much talk, not enough action, too much tell, not enough show.

If you liked The Trespasser, keep on eye on Capeworld Stories. It'll feature writings from Capeworld Comics, and I promise they're much better than Trespasser.

I won't delete Trespasser. As the only thing I've written that's gotten something like an award, I feel it should stay up until I remake it, whenever that might be.

Lee Walker has died twice.

The first death was in the Great War in the Air when a skyfull of poison transformed him into a superhuman with tortuously acute senses. When he heard the dead and dying over miles of no-man's land, he believed himself besieged by ghosts. His soul was shredded, his mind was broken, and the first Lee Walker died.

Unable to function in no-man's land due to his trauma but possessing considerable potential due to his newfound acuity, the second was transferred to the air force where he threw his all into killing the enemy. He found the adrenaline of battle a balm for his constant sensory pains which his specialized flight helmet and goggles could only dull.

They called the second the Trespasser because he trespassed through enemy territory without any a care.

When the war ended and he found himself still alive, the second drifted to Shanghai where he hoped opium could kill what war could not.

The second time Lee Walker died was in an opium den where an Indian mystic named Ram followed the scent of blood on his soul over an entire continent to find the hole where he slept like a stray dog. Ram spoke to him of Shiva whose violence and pain was a cosmic necessity--even a cosmic good. Ram spoke of warrior codes and violence in the service of humanity. Ram spoke of purpose and need and destiny and in the light of these things the second Lee Walker died like a shadow against the sun.

The third man retains the names Lee Walker and Trespasser, but in truth he is neither. He is something that combines mercy and violence into a potent weapon against evil.

It is now the third decade of the 20th century. A shadowy warrior trespasses through Mainline City--through its art deco skyscrapers and dilapidated slums.

There is nowhere evil can hide. There is no shadow so dark, no light so blinding that will turn away his pursuit.

The Trespasser hunts.
