Today a couple came to the orphanage and were talking to the owner of the orphanage, or as we call her, aunt May. I thought that maybe that couple wanted to adopt someone from the orphanage, maybe a new born baby or someone a little bit older.
I was watching through the window, trying to get a glimpse of the couple.
The other aunts that were around the house were making sure that everyone was out of bed and ready for breakfast.
Later, while we were eating, one of the aunts came to my table and said “Aunt Mary wants to see you. She’s in the backyard”.
When I went to the backyard the only thing that I noticed was her face covered with tears of joy.
When she saw me she said “ Amelia, great news, we found a couple who is willing to adopt you!” What!, I thought, where am I going to to live now? Will I be able to visit the orphanage?
Many questions ran through my head. I looked at the couple for the first time. They looked young and there faces looked happy to adopt me but I didn’t feel anything.
Of course I was glad that Aunt Mary was happy since every time we went to visit her office, she would always look stressed.
