Amelia jolted awake. She was in the middle of the maze, looking around, she started to call for help. Yet there was no one to hear her cries in terror or pleads for help. Amelia only could do one thing, and that was, run.
She didn't know where she was in the maze. She didn't have anything on her to help her navigate her way through. She didn't know if she could memorize it, but she was going to try.
Picking herself up off the ground, she took off to the left, then ran straight for a bit before taking a few rights, then a left. After running for what she thought was forever, she decided to stop to look at her surroundings.
She just saw miles and miles of walls. The bad thing was it was starting to get dark, she didn't know what was in the maze after dark, and she didn't really want to find out.
As she started running again, she heard a loud screech that sent chills down her bones. This caused her to run faster, but that wasn't enough. The thing had grabbed her ankle with its long metal claw. As the thing grabbed her, it threw her again on the side of the maze. This caused her to lose her breath and hold her side in pain, letting out a loud cry. She got a good look at the creature. It was a giant slug thing, had metal arms coming out of its body, and it had a stinger.
The thing grabbed Amelia by her arm, digging its claws into her skin, once again she cried out in pain. The thing threw her up into the air like a ragdoll. As she hit the concrete, her body laid there. Life was slipping from her eyes. She looked scared. The creature was standing over her, its stinger pushing its self into her fragile skin. This sent Amelia over the edge, she gasped and tried to struggle, but that wasn't enough. Her eyes closed, the sounds of the monster fading away, the life slowly drained from her body.
Amelia was shaken awake, Newt standing over her body and Alby in the corner. It was midday, and they decided to let her sleep due to how long she was in the box. Amelia was, having a bad dream. She was practically screaming her head off and crying really loud.
She pushed herself away from Newt with a scared look in her eye. Her tear-stained face. Made the boy feel sorry for her. Sure every greenie had, bad dreams, but it was never severe as this one. "It's just a bad dream, Amelia. Calm down." Newt whispered. Amelias' breathing had picked up. She was going to make herself pass out if she didn't calm down. "Gally." The girl had said in almost a whisper.
The British boy nodded and looked back at Alby and said, "Go get Gally." The leader nodded and rushed off to find the builder. Within minutes, Gally busted through the door, looking at the glader sitting on the bed.
He got to his knees, looking at the girl gently, taking her small hands in his larger ones. "Hey, I'm here. I'm here." He said, not breaking eye contact with the girl. "Can you calm down for me?" She shook her head and whimpered. "Why not Lia?" He wiped the tears that were falling down her face saying, "How about we count to five then take a deep breath? This will only work if you do it with me."
She nodded, and he started to count, it took a second, but Amelia joined him. It took a minute or so before she calmed down and was able to breathe again properly. "Let's get you to the medjack." Gally helped her out of bed, her knees almost buckled under her. Newt put her other arm over his shoulder, all four of them walked to the medjacks.
Clint looked at the girl, who was barely able to keep her eyes open due to how much she was crying, "Is she ok?" He asked. Gally then looked at him, giving him a harsh glare, "What does it look to you slint head." He said. Clint put his hands up. He then pointed to the cot. So they could put her on.
After doing so, Newt said he had to get back to work and wanted to be updated on how she was from time to time. Alby sat in one of the chairs and looked at Gally, "We need to talk after this." He sounded serious. Gally just nodded at his statement, sitting in the chair next to the cot.
"What exactly happened?" Clint asked. He was very much puzzled. "We all heard her screaming, so we thought she had a bad dream. Newt came out to get me because apparently, she asked for me, we came back in, and it looked like she couldn't breathe, well she could breathe, she was just having a hard time doing it." Gally said, looking at the medjack.
"She had a panic attack, that can happen due to a bad dream." Clint pressed his fingers on each side of the girl's neck, gently rubbing to see how much it hurt. The girl hissed in pain and moved away, "Hey, greenie? Can you open your mouth? I need to have a look at your throat." Clint said, and Amelia obliged, opening her mouth so he could have a look.
He pushed the popsicle stick down on her tongue to get a better look. He finally pulled it out after a second. "Your throats raw, try to not scream as much for a few days. It should heal in no time." Clint said, looking down at the girl then to the guys. "For now, just take it easy and get some fresh air," Clint said, finishing the conversation.
Gally helped the girl up, and the three walked out of the medjack hut. "Amelia, could you give Gally and I a moment. I need to have a few words with him. Newt is in the gardens, and Chuck is off helping one of the jobs if you wanted to go see either of them." Alby stated. It wasn't like he was asking. He wanted her to leave for a bit so they could talk. She nodded and made her way over to the garden, where she started to help Newt with whatever he was doing.
Alby turned to Gally and, rose his eyebrow, "You and the greenie have gotten close, seeing as she has only been here for a day." He said. Gally just shrugged and pulled out something from his pants.
"You remember two years ago when I came up? This came up with me. This was the only thing I had of my past." Gally said, pushing the paper into Alby's hand. Alby took a look at the object that was, dropped into his hand. It was a picture. More specifically, it was of a younger-looking Gally, kissing the cheek of a younger-looking Amelia. He flipped the image over on the back was writing.
-To the love of my life Gally. I'm so glad you came into my life. I hope you're here for many more lifetimes.
- Love your girlfriend Jelly Bean (Amelia)
The leader of the glade looked shocked. He handed the picture back to Gally. "You didn't think to tell us?" He asked, "It was none of your guys' business. I wanted to tell you now because she's here, in the flesh. It didn't seem important to tell you then, but it seems important now." Gally started, "I don't remember her, but I have this sense whenever I'm near here. It comes over me. It makes me feel as if I need to protect-" Gally got cut off.
Alby had never seen the boy in this type of emotional state. "I understand. Just remember, we need to focus on getting out of this maze. Try to not make any little Gallys or Amelias. Understand?" Alby said, looking dead serious, and Gally nodded, chuckling at the thought of that. "Alright, get back to work." Alby said, walking off. Gally did the same, going back to working on the barn that held all the farm animals.
During dinner that night, Amelia was sitting around all the people she would consider friends. "Guys, I have a question." she started, "What is it, greenie?" Newt asked. "What do I look like?" the girl asked.
"Well, for starters, you have strawberry blonde hair. You have a small button nose, full lips, and dark green eyes. Your hair is pretty long even if it's pulled up." Newt said. Everyone agreed with the male. "You're about five feet tall. You have a small frame. Your skin is pretty pale, but that should change with time." Gally said, admiring the girl. "Any more questions?" Newt asked as the group ate their dinner.
She nodded and looked embarrassed to ask, "Where is the bathroom, more importantly, the showers?" "Gally will show you, isn't that right, shank?" Newt chuckled, patting him on the back, "Sure, she'll have to wear your clothes since they didn't send any up when she came up." Gally looked at Newt, in which he shrugged.
"Great, we'll do that after dinner." The group got to know each other better. Amelia shortly found out that she would start job training the next day, so she should get a good nights' rest.
That night she laid awake, scared to sleep because of what had happened that morning. Soon she drifted into a dreamless sleep.
