Amelia woke up that morning, happy as could be and a bit confused as strong arms were around her tiny frame. Not that she minded, of course. Gally would be up and working already, yet he wasn't.
She got out of his grasp with a bit of hesitation when he would move. She didn't want to wake the boy up. Looking outside, she realized that it was still dark, but it was almost time to get up. 'What to wear, what to wear,' she thought.
Looking through the drawers of her side of the dresser, she didn't have any clean clothes. Other than undergarments, but she wasn't just going to wear that. 'Shoot,' the girl thought. She moved to Gallys' side combing, threw all the clothes. Picking out a black shirt that she knew was too tight on him and some sweatpants.
She looked back at the sleeping boy admiring him for a second before going to the showers. As she walked through the Glade, she never knew how peaceful it was when no one was up and moving. Since no one was awake, she could take a shower without anyone peeking in on her.
The showers were 3 showers in a row. They were encased around and had only a curtain for a door. It wasn't that bad. There were a few chips and divots in the wood. The showers had the bathrooms connected, but the sinks were in the shower room because of the need for water. The sinks had mirrors above them. They weren't in the best shape, but what could you do about it?
This allowed her to take in how her appearance changed. When Amelia got here, she was too thin, her cheekbones stuck out too much, and she just felt gross. Now she finally had meat on her bones. Her cheekbones were defined along with her jawline. Her eyes were soft, and she started to get smile and laugh lines. Her hair that was once down to her waist was cut up to her shoulders. It was still the strawberry blonde color that it once was when she got here.
She felt pretty. She was pretty.
The girl peeled away her clothes, looking over her body, seeing that it changed. She was small, her collar bones stuck out nicely, and she couldn't see her hip bones. She placed her clothes in the hamper and Gallys' clothes on the chair that was in the shower stall.
She got in and took a long warm shower. Upon getting out, she heard a noise from the bathroom. She didn't want to think about it. She put on her clothes for the day and hung the towels to dry. The pants were a little big, so she flipped the waistband down to fit her frame better.
As she was going to walk out of the room, she heard the small 'tunk' again. "Hello?" She called out. She walked into the bathroom area, looking around to see what was making the noise, finding nothing. She walked to the door, leaving the shower area.
'What was that noise?' the girl thought, then pushed it to the back of her mind, not wanting to worry about it.
Amelia decided that she was going to do something nice for the boys. Making her way to the kitchen, she started making breakfast. She made french toast and bacon.
Soon enough, all the boys started to wake and come get breakfast. All the gladers liked when Amelia made them food, it was just because she was good at it.
Soon Chuck and Newt, and Tommy came up to get their food. "Morning, Lia." Chuck said.
"Good morning, kiddo." She smiles, ruffling his hair. He made a small noise in protest. Which caused the boys to laugh. He grabbed his food, mumbling a quiet thank you before going to sit down.
Newt and Tommy both moved up, grabbing their food. Amelia didn't see Gally this morning, which was weird. She grabbed her food and went to sit with the boys.
"Amelia?" Newt asked as she sat down. She made a small hum noise as she took a bite of her food. "Why are you wearing Gallys' clothes?" He smirked, wiggling his eyebrows.
She choked on her food a bit. Snapping her head up, she gave him a small glare. "I didn't have anything else to wear. They didn't send enough clothes up for me." She swallowed her food. "And for your information, nothing is going to happen between Gally and I."
She felt a presence behind her, letting out an internal sigh, she turned her head to see who it was. Long behold, she found Gally standing there. He looked upset by her words. "Gally." She reached out for him.
He moved back, "I get it, Amelia." He turned and walked away. Something inside her broke. She frowned and got up, going to look for the boy.
After a while, she sat under the tree, just thinking. She knew she messed up, but she wanted to make it right. She didn't need Gally to feel hurt, and she knew what she said was wrong.
She knew how she felt about the boy.
She reached into the pockets of his sweatpants, not expecting to find anything, but she did. She felt a rough piece of paper touch her fingertips. Her eyebrows narrowed, and she pulled it out.
It was a picture. Amelia took a long look at it. It was of her and Gally, he was kissing her cheek, and she had a happy smile on her face. Turning the picture over, she read the back, staring at the word, 'love.' It was from the past, which raised a bunch of questions, that would never be answered. She put the picture back in the pocket. She intended on finding Gally.
Since she didn't have to work and others did, she knew where he was, going over to the builders. She found him. But his back was to her.
Henry stepped in front of her before she was able to get closer, "Out of my way Henry."
"No can do, Princess." He said. His eyes traveled down her body, he leaned in close, his warm breath against her ear, "Guess you're up for grabs?" This made Amelia uncomfortable. She stepped back, so there was space between the two. "Don't worry, you'll be wearing my clothes soon." He smirked going, back to work. She was contemplating how much trouble she would get into if she punched the shank in the face.
She walked over to where Hank sat. "Has he said anything at all?" The boy shook his head, and she let out a big sigh.
Amelia walked up to Gally, gently tapping on his shoulder. "Gally?" Her voice was quiet.
"Go away, Amelia! I get that you want nothing to do with me." He said, his hammer slamming nails into the thing he was fixing.
"Look at me, please." She wrapped her arms around his arm, wanting him to turn around.
Gally slammed the hammer down on the wood. He turned and glared down at the girl. She took a step back. Not wanting to be mad, she held up the picture. "We need to talk. Now." She said, his eyes glanced at the thing in her hand.
"I have a job to do, Amelia." His eyes, softening for a moment, before getting hard again. "I can't just stop what I'm doing to care about what you're doing." He turned back around.
Amelia looked upset by this, turning around to go back to the homestead. "Amelia, we'll talk tonight." He said as she walked away. That didn't make her feel any better.
The girl went to the homestead and decided to also make dinner for the gladers that night. She made hamburgers and salad. The boys started to come in. Henry gave her a creepy smile and said thank you as he got his food.
Amelia went and sat next to Chuck throwing her arm over his shoulders, "Hey, Chuckie." He smiled up at her as they ate. She wasn't that hungry, so she didn't eat.
"I'm going to head to bed." She whispered, standing up from her chair. Chuck and Newt nodded, understanding. She walked into the homestead to Gally and hers' room, closing the door behind her. She slid under the covers, waiting for Gally to come in, soon she fell asleep.
She was awakened by the door to her room opening, "I'm sorry, Gally, for saying those things. I didn't mean anything. I was lying to get Newt and Chuck to get them to stop asking about it." Amelia turned her body to look at the boy.
It wasn't Gally.
