Amelia looked at the figure who was standing in her doorway. She narrowed her eyes. Since it
was dark, it was hard to see who was there.
Amelia looked once more, sitting up from the bed. It looked to be either Minho or Henry. She didn't think Minho would stand there, not saying anything. Henry, on the other hand, would he was weird and made her uncomfortable.
"Henry?" Amelia called out. She stood from her sitting position looking at the tall builder. He walked into the room, closing the door behind him. Amelia moved so she was on the other side of the bed, making sure there was enough room between the pair so she would feel
comfortable. Even though she did this, she still didn't feel comfortable.
"I've been waiting for this moment, Amelia." Even in the dark, you could see his smirk.
"What moment?" She asked as the boy walked toward her.
"To get you alone, you aren't special, Amelia. I don't see what the boys see in you." He said harshly, which made her back up even more.
Eventually, her back hit the wall, trapping her from going anywhere. "Tell me, Amelia, why did they send you up here?" Henry asked, now standing in front of her. She didn't say anything, which made him angry. He hit the wall next to her head, which made her look up at him.
"I don't know." Her voice was soft. She looked him in the eye, wishing that would satisfy him.
"You're lying, Amelia!" He yelled, his hand going to her throat. His eye had a crazy look in them. She let out a whimper, her fingers immediately going to his arm, not wanting him to do that.
His grip wasn't too hard, but hard enough where it would leave a bruise if she didn't get him off of her. "Now, I'm going to ask again." He said, tightening his grip on her throat. "Why were you sent up here?!"
She shook her head and flailed around, hoping to catch someone's attention, "I don't know!"
She whispered as it was hard to talk. "I promise, I'm not lying. Please let me go, and I won't tell anyone what happened here." She clawed at his hands, wanting him to let go.
He looked like he wanted to let go for a second but then tightened his grip once more. Which caused Amelia to trash around some more, she managed to get out of his grasp. Running under his arms, but it wasn't long before he grabbed her hair, yanking her back.
Amelia let out a scream, getting pulled to the ground. Sure enough, it would get people's attention. Henry managed to kick her until she heard a crack. He also managed to get in a few punches to her head. She let out another high pitched yell. She put her hands over her ribs so he wouldn't kick them anymore.
Seconds later, he was on top of her, his hands once again wrapped around her neck, this time cutting off her airflow.
'I'm going to die.' Amelia thought as she gasped for breath. She reached up and scratched up at his face wanting him to let go of her. It just made him tightened his grip on the poor girl. She quit moving, trying to conserve the air she had left.
Amelia's eyes began to close until she just saw black, her hearing went out, and she started to lose consciousness. Soon she felt the weight of Henry ripped off her small frame. Seconds later, she felt strong arms wrapped around her. She was gasping for breath, trying to replenish the air she had lost. Amelia could finally hear again. She heard punches thrown at the boy who was once trying to kill her.
"It's going to be ok." She heard someone whisper to her. She soon felt something soft under her. She was in the infirmary. She reached out for the person who was once holding her. She met his soft hands.
It was Newt. Amelia soon lost consciousness.
Newt let go of her, letting the medjacks take care of her. He walked back up to the room, seeing Gally slumped against the wall, his hands bloody from beating up Henry. Henry was lying unconscious next to the boy.
Gally met Newt's eyes. Gally nodded, thankful Newt got her to the infirmary. The guards soon came in and took Henrys' body to the pit. They tried to pick up Gally to take him, but he said he could walk by himself.
Gally sat in the pit, hoping Amelia would be alright. Everyone didn't think that Gally deserved to be in jail because he was protecting another Glader, who was the one he loved. They would have a council meeting as soon as it was morning and the walls opened.
The medjacks were hard at work, making sure the female was ok. They dressed her wounds and did everything they could before turning in for the night. Clint stayed behind, sleeping on the other cot. In case the girl woke up in the middle of the night. Newt sat in the chair next to the cot, so he could see what happened in the morning.
The next morning came around, and Amelia had not woken up yet. Gally had been pacing around in the pit the whole night, wanting to know how she was doing. Henry was still out in the jail a few from Gallys.
The boys had a council meeting. No one wanted to do anything until Amelia woke up. Wanting her to be the one that decided the fate of the two boys.
Days seemed to turn into weeks. Amelia looked to be getting better, yet the Medjacks didn't know why the girl wouldn't wake up. The bruising on her ribs seemed to be going down. The bruising on her neck and eye stayed the same. It just got lighter over time. Clint decided to go tell Gally how she was doing. Since he would want to know if he was in his shoes.
"Henry managed to crack one of her ribs, get a few punches at her eye, and even cut her airflow for enough time that it would significantly hurt her." Clint said as he sat outside of the jail, Gally looked angry.
"She hasn't woke up yet, once she does. She will decide what happens to you and Henry." Clint paused, "I'll update you if anything new happens." Gally was thankful that Clint told him that.
Today was the day that they would get a new Glader. It just didn't feel right since Amelia wasn't there to welcome the new Greenie. Thomas the last Greenie. He was helping out a lot since
Henry was in the pit. He stepped up and became a runner. He had found new passageways that they would hopefully be the way out.
Soon enough, they heard the alarm that brought the Greenie up. Around ten minutes later, it stopped, and the box reached the top. Newt pulled back the doors and looked down into the hole. It was a boy, he looked to be about seven or eight. Why would they send a kid up?Back in the Medjacks hut, Amelia made the first movement she had in weeks. She stirred a bit and soon opened her eyes.
But Clint and Jeff weren't there. They were seeing the new Greenie.
Amelia pushed the covers off her body, moving so she was in a sitting position. She grabbed onto her side as pain shot up her side and back. Suddenly everything from that night came back to her at once. She expected it to be the next day.
Her head spun a bit as she stood. Soon she gained her composer and opened the door leading out of the Medjacks hut. She saw that in the distance, everyone was gathered around the box. Amelia made her way over, confused why the box came up early.
As she walked up, she could feel everyone turn and look at her. Clint stepped forward, "You're up. How are you feeling?" He asked.
"My ribs hurt," Amelia said, clearing her throat. "why did the box come up early?" She asked."You've been asleep for weeks, Amelia," Alby spoke slowly to the girl.
This confused the girl. She furrowed her brows, looking at all the boys. "Weeks?" Alby nodded.
"Alright. Everyone get back to work!" Newt called out, walking. So he was in front of the girl.
"Where's Gally?" Amelia asked as the boy stood in front of her.
It took Newt a few seconds to say something, "He's in the pit, Lia. He was put there after Henry was." Newt looked at the girl.
Amelia stood there for a second, "get him out." Newt shook his head as he couldn't do what the girl wanted.
"We need to have a council meeting, but you can go see him." Newt said.
Amelia nodded and made her way over to the pit.
