Again, I must have passed out from the pain. I looked to the door and seen one of the men standing there. A quick tug of my arms signalling that my hands are once again tied up. My gown has been replaced, as well as the sheets. Must have got blood on them during my midnight exercise. I was also washed down oddly enough. Must have really been bad.
“Enjoy your sleep?” the man said in an almost quiet voice. These dreams would be the death of me, as if rubbing it in my face that I was a bad boy and I should have known better. I did know better, but I couldn’t be bothered with... emotions. Regret, sadness, disappointment... Over the years I’ve just become Apathetic. The only time I was truly alive was when I was with Timber, my mom also but it wasn’t the same.
“If one could enjoy that kind of sleep than surely they are a masochist,” I said.
“You like to bleed a lot so I think you are one, Buddy.” Ah, it’s him today. I can only tell these guys apart by how they call me and talk. This one is Path, short for Psychopath. He likes to mess with people quite a lot, and he enjoys blood the most as well as knives. I’m one of his favourite’s. He likes the face I make when being stabbed. Of course he’s good at avoiding my critical points, he learned that while doing his spree a few years back. Now he just tortures people as a new hobby. Of course Path does get bored easily, so I’m lucky to keep his interest this long if I’m still alive. If it can be called living.
“I would expect you to be bored of me by now,” I said.
“Oh, you’ll know when I’m bored,” Path’s joy rang from his voice. Excitement was there too.
“Unfortunately...” I stared at the wall, not caring if he went on or not.
“The others say you don’t talk much, but you are the chattiest victim I’ve owned. So much so that I’m beginning to think of you as a pet. I don’t like pets, they are messy, but you, you are the perfect pet. I don’t mind taking care of you, cleaning up after you...” Path went on, and my thoughts went to how clean my body feels. Well that explains one thing. “... ding you! Oh that reminds me! You haven’t eaten yet, have you? You must be hungry. I’ll get you breakfast, stay put now,” Path skipped out of the room closing the door behind him as a large man stepped in, taking Path’s place. I enjoyed the quiet this man brought, Path was in an ecstatic mood today. Must have found a new toy that he’ll get bored of soon.
“I’m back~” Path walked in with a bowl, his intent for now was feeding me. If I had to pick a favourite guard, it would actually be Path. The quiet one walked out and Path sat himself next to me blowing lightly to a spoonful of porridge. “I made it sweet with brown sugar and maple syrup and chocolate chips.”
“Sounds good,” I said not at all enthusiastic.
“So excitable so early in the morning! What did I do to deserve this?” Path feed me as he chattered like a bird. He had in fact found someone new, but he wants to try something before he does anything with her. For now, he’s tolerating her behaviour because he’ll get to guard me in the mornings. Good a schedule I can work with. Took them long enough. Being a favourite has it perks, I guess. “...d I would hate for her to be tarnished by my anger. You know how angry I get, you’ve seen it, felt it,” Path place a hand on my chest gently stroking a spot he knew wasn’t black or blue or red. “If only they kept you in good shape, I’ve loved your muscles! But this you is also perfect, the doctor won’t be coming until later tonight because I took care of your wounds already when I washed you up.” Path went on to feeding me.
“You’re really not bored of me?” I asked. Path liked to talk so having a conversation with him wasn’t all bad as long as I don’t say too much and just what he wants to hear.
“Are you jealous?” Path gasped, smiling. “Oh don’t worry, Buddy! They mean nothing to me, they lose their charm after the first few stabs. Not quite as exciting as you are, in fact I get off to your anguished face every night! My only question is, why didn’t you get hard when I touched you? Or are you fighting that desire? You must be fighting really hard, anyways, my newest girl I want to show you! When you’re better of course! She’s a sweet little thing, but she shouldn’t be that exciting to kill. Predictable in every way!”
“I hate that,” I said cutting into his chatter just so he knows I’m partly listening.
“I know! I’m hoping to find someone like you so I get to enjoy killing them, not like you though I get to enjoy killing you every night. Your soft smooth copper skin, with a few rough edges, your black stubble, silky soft black hair and those defying dark brown eyes. Such a strong jawline, I really enjoy our time together, Ember Wixx, I truly do.” He must have put something in the food. I’m starting to feel sleepy.
Walking down the alleyway, Ember held his gun up at the ready. He had chased someone down here hoping to catch them before they got away. He wasn’t suppose to do this, just follow, but the guy spotted him and ran. On impulse he also ran after him. ‘Shit! I’m so fucking stupid! Why? I need to just leave.’
“Umber?” Ember turned to Timber’s voice calling out to him. Unaware that the guy he was chasing was behind the large dumpster. “Umber!” Timber called happily and ran towards him. A slight shift made Umber turn and see a guy holding out a gun and fired.
He expected pain, he expected a force to throw him back, but the guy smirked at him and ran away. Ember turned saw Timber on the ground, panic rose in him as he rushed to his boyfriend. “Timber! Oh god... Timber,” his hands shook as he pressed against the wound. He got on the radio calling for help, “Baby, it will be okay... It will be okay, the ambulance is coming.”
“Umber, I love you,” Timber smiled at him, Ember’s vision got blurry.
“It’s okay, Timber... I love you, too... Stay awake baby... Timber stay awake...”
Ember stared blankly at the closed casket, trembling. No one was there for him, not anymore. He felt someone storming up to him.
“You did this!” Timber’s father yelled holding him with one hand to Ember’s collar the other hand raised. “You killed my son!” Ember didn’t bother sticking up for himself.
“Go ahead... but just know I love Timber,” Ember’s vision got blurry again, the emotions he was holding back now leaking through. The hands at his throat started trembling loosing their grip and suddenly Ember was brought into a hug. The two cried silently.
I woke up to a new guard, it might have been the silent one, or the taunting one... hell it could be any of them. I never paid much attention to their detail, not since I was captured. That last memory... I can’t seem to let, Timber go. Coale, can be put on the back burner, Timber on the other hand... Such pain. That might have been the day I no longer felt nothing.
“Ash did a wonderful job on your wounds,” the doctor came in smiling her sadistic smile. “He really wants you to heal quickly. Well, let’s get you dressed up. We are going out today!” I didn’t feel happy about finally leaving the room, the recent memory hit hard. I was dressed out of that duck gown and put in some normal loose clothing. Grey sweatpants, loose black long sleeve shirt, runners, and a big hooded dark blue sweater. “Keep the hood on, we’ll take it slow. Oh I can’t believe it’s finally warm enough for a walk! And guess what, Ash will be joining us outside.” she said sounding excited as we slowly made our way out. Everything was aching. I felt weak. At least I didn’t have the sharp pain stabbing me every now and then. Path must have added some pain medicine with the sleeping pill.
We stepped outside and sure enough Path was right there waiting for us. It was still a bit chilly out we were advised not to stay out too long. Grass showed through the small bits of snow that still lay about, trees getting their leaves back.
“I asked if we could spend a few moments out here. It’s February you know? A special day to be exact.”
“Happy Valentine’s day...” I said as I looked around, taking in the fresh air. Path kissed my cheek and we started our small stroll in the small backyard. I have no idea where we are, but there are trees everywhere. They are defiantly not looking for me... my body shivered and leaned against Path for warmth. “I’m cold...” I said, and Path brought me back inside but sat me at a small table to look outside. The light hurt my eyes, the cold was causing my wounds to ache, and my body was frail that I felt the cold longer in the warm house.
“Here you go, some warm tea, and a piece of chocolate.” Path sat down across from me watching me drink the tea and nibble at the chocolate. I never cared for sweet things anymore, my lack of it was evident... or was before I was captured by these maniacs.
“Thank you,” I told him as I looked out the window. Path had treated me like a lover, ever since I started doing what he wanted. Not sure when it started, maybe my fifth beating? Eighth? I don’t even know anymore. Path wasn’t as muscular as the others, thinner but still a strong build. More toned than I was that was for certain. I was poured another cup and was given food to eat on my own. I tried it a few times but seen Path giving me a look, I pushed it towards him and opened my mouth a bit for him to feed me. He was all too happy about that gesture. Occasionally I would feed myself, Path didn’t mind one bit, as he would take the food and eat it himself. I was given a piece of cake next and some chocolate covered strawberries.
I had to make a bold move by feeding him as well. By the end of it I was feeling drowsy, he must have put something in somewhere... maybe the tea? I was the only one drinking it. Or that piece of chocolate? Path really was crazy. It seems the routine changed, I was given a bit more freedom. Could have been Path’s doing, or it was just a special day for him. I leaned back into the chair watching as the green trees started to fade in and out.
“Don’t fight it, Buddy,” Path said smiling, “you need your rest right now. We can come out again tomorrow. I promise.”
Ember looked around town, he was suppose to meet him here. He was visiting his mom and Timber promised he’d be here.
“Umber!” he heard Timber’s voice, he smiled and went to hug him but Timber stopped him. “I have a surprise for you. Can you guess what it is?” Ember thought for a moment, it wasn’t a car, it had to be on Timber. He wore a hooded jacket hands in his pocket, and purring...
“Are you purring?” Ember asked and Timber only smiled. It defiantly wasn’t Timber purring... something white popped out behind Timber and mewled.
“Oh my... Timber?” he only smiled more and brought out a small black and gold kitten. Ember gasped and held the fluff gently. “You didn’t!”
“You wanted a cat for such a long time now, my mom’s gave birth to five kitten’s I held onto this one for you.” Timber said smiling seeing Ember rub his face to the kittens the smile Ember had was a happy one. He held the kitten down a bit and kissed Timber.
“Disgusting,” someone said and walked away in the other direction. Timber pulled away, blushing but still ashamed.
“How rude, I don’t say that when you kiss your husband!” Ember called out to the gaudy woman.
“You have no place here! Go back where you came from! To think I was considering a good for nothing cat,” she called out still walking.
“Let’s go...” Timber said before Ember could say anything back. They walked around a bit handing out the remaining two kittens. Timber had said that people in his home town was getting tired of getting cats from his mom so she asked Timber if he could do that here. Not many people took the kittens, it didn’t really matter Ember all to happy about the ball of fur he held in his hands.
“Ember!” a voice called out, he looked up and saw Coale running towards them.
“Hey your royal asses,” Ember said and Timber choked on a laugh.
“What’cha got there? Oh cute! I want one!”
“Your mother refused, still pissed at me for hooking up with a guy.”
“You serious?! I thought she was over that!” Coale said frowning, than smiled. “I’ve got something to tell you that I only found out a week ago.”
“That is?” Ember asked.
“I want to say this now instead of being a douche at your wedding, I like you, romantically,” Coale said slowly near the end. Ember was surprised, Timber looked just as shocked.
“Thank you, but you know I can’t return those feelings.” Ember finally said.
“I know, thank you for telling me that. I was seriously thinking you were gonna sick Timber on me or something...”
“Why would I wish that on anyone? I’m busting my ass off just trying to keep the beast happy.” Timber laughed then and so did Coale.
They chatted for a bit before Ember’s friend decided to get going, Timber and Ember walked for a while longer.
“What are you going to name her?” Timber asked seeing that his boyfriend was still cuddling the little kitten.
“Hmm,” Ember thought, “Eclipse,” he said Timber smiled taking a quick glance around and kissed Ember on the cheek.
“That is perfect,” Timber said and they went to visit his mom who took the last two kittens that no one wanted.
I woke up to pain, the sadist was pouring something over my wounds. “Ah, knew that would get you up. Had a lot of fun with Ash, had we? Well, it’s time to change your bandages, let’s get right too it and hurry it up.” She was anything but quick. Each wound took her twenty minutes to clean, I was sure my eyes were swollen and red by the time she was finished with me. The next step was wrapping me up which took her ten minutes to do, slowing down and being gentle and asking if I wanted to say something. I only cried out in pain as she started up again saying nothing to her.
