I have lived on this Island my whole life. The Island is just mainly the older generation that keeps the island preserve. The Ancestors found Hashi Island over 300 years ago. The island and the mainland were connected until recently. Hurricane Han destroyed the bridge on my graduation ceremony party day. After that I knew, I’d never see him again. That night, they helped those who live on the mainland go home. As they were leaving, I starred at the ocean that separated him and me. Would I ever see him again? What will happen to the Isle if I leave?

Being in high school can be fun sometimes. You make friends. You take classes you do and don’t like. You taking tests that proves absolutely nothing about who you are. I truly believe that’s all that would happen to me in high school, but I was wrong.
The sun was beating down on the pavement, as I was walking around barefoot to prove to my younger sister that the pavement was hot. “See, I can stand on hot pavement for 2 minutes without tearing up,” I say as I quickly run to the grass.
“Alison, that’s not fair.”
“How is it not fair? You told me you can’t stand on the hot pavement for 60 seconds.”
“It’s not fair, because you can’t feel anything on your feet. You’re like immune to heat.”
“Okay, Sara.” I laughed.
I turned my head to the car that was pulling into the driveway. The car parked and out came my mother, a lawyer on the mainland.
“Mom, how was work?”
“ It was fine. Did you girls finished your homework?”
“I did,” Sara said proudly. She was a natural genius like our mother.
“I have a math assignment that I was going to finish up after dinner.”
Mother looked at me, “You better. Your grade in that class is terrible. If you need help, your sister is right there to help you since she is in the advanced math program.”
“Of course, Mother.”
Together, we walked into the house. Mom made dinner, and afterward, I finished my homework.
That night was blissful, and I never thought that my life would change after that night.
