Our family took turns spending the night with Obaachan in hospital. Although she was in a coma, she would occasionally make some funny sounds at which we would all jump expectantly.

The series was published in Real Matter magazine in 2020.
It was also used in a Japanese studies lecture at La Trobe University to illustrate practices of everyday religion in a Japanese setting.
