When I arrive back in my room I find Larimar still in my room inspecting the painting that hangs on the wall.
'What are you still doing in my room?' I ask him confused and he replies not looking away from the painting.
'I felt some sort of strange energy coming from your room, so I decided to check it out.'
'Well, couldn't you at least ask me first, going into somebody's room without asking isn't very polite. Besides it was probably just one of the many ingredients in my storage,' I reply annoyed.
'Or are you still suspecting me?' I add. It annoys me that Larimar would even suspect me to do such a thing? For someone who I look up to so much to accuse me of such a thing.
'You don't get it, do you?' He turns around and walks towards me until he stands right before me.
'Do you not understand what danger you and your family are? If that tree dies, all of you turn to dust,' he states sternly and I raise an eyebrow.
'Of course, I understand, but I don't understand why you would think I would be the one to do it. I have devoted my life to the moon, why would I want to live less than forever?' I reply and he lets out a frustrated groan.
'If there's anything else, I'd love to help but if that's it please leave my room,' I tell him he does as I say, without saying another word.
'If only he knew,' I say and let out a sigh. I walk over to the painting. 'Build them up, build them up, don't let it fall down,' I say reinforcing the spell placed on the painting so there's no way Larimar could feel the energy that was seeping through the canvas.
'Now for those shards,' I say while walking over to the corner of the room where I disposed of the shards for the time being by putting them into some ancient vase.
I grab the shards from the vase and put them in a drawstring bag that I grab from my desk before opening a new portal in front of me, diving into it headfirst as if diving into a pool. I like to jump into the portals in dumb ways and open them onto the ground because that makes for the most fun ways to jump in.
I come out on the other side and arrive in an empty workroom. Normally Elvira blocks her rooms from being portaled to, but luckily she made an exception for me. I place the drawstring bag on the workbench in the middle of her workroom and as if she was summoned she comes around the corner, holding a small purple amethyst quartz urn.
She places the urn down on her table and when I reach for it she slaps my hands away.
'Patience dear one,' she tells me and snatches the cloth bag from the workbench like a little kid receiving a bag of treats. She opens the bag with glistering eyes; 'Yes, these will do nicely,' she says and grabs one of the smaller shards from the bag. She lets it float between her hands and raises it to the height of her head. She blows on it gently and parts of the shards fly away like dust particles blown off a dusty book. She stops blowing and the shard between her hands has turned into a small elongated diamond shape.
She grabs a gold thread from one of her drawers of the workbench which she effortlessly bends around the quartz shard turning it into a hanger. She opens another drawer but looks surprised and stares at the drawer confused. I stand there in silence as she let's go of the hanger which just remains floating in its place as she starts to dig through her drawer with both hands.
'There you are,' she says a moment later and pulls out a long gold necklace and she grabs the hanger from behind her without looking at it and places the hanger on the golden necklace.
She holds the necklace in front of me with a smile on her face: 'Here you go darling, a present. Rose quartz has strong healing properties so use it well, will you?'
I look at her confused, and she sighs.
'Just take it, while I'm being nice,' she says annoyed. I smile and take the necklace from her hands and put it around my neck. The quartz hanger hanging at around the same height as my heart.
'Thank you very much,' I say with a smile.
'Oh it fits so well, right between them men titties,' she says grabbing my upper chest and pushing them together.
'You should really use this worked off body of yours to your advantage, I am sure you could have even more successful,' she says jokingly letting go of my upper chest. I rearrange my kimono and shake my head.
'Elvira, you know I would never, besides aren't we priests and priestesses? To devote our body and soul to the moon.'
Elvira lets out an annoyed sigh: 'Don't you think that those rules are a little outdated? I know you are one to follow rules but so many of us have a significant other or even a family. At least just use what you have.'
I fall quiet and Elvira sighs again: 'I'm not trying to be mean. I am just saying what I think,' I send her a smile.
'I know Elvira, I'll think about it.'
She grabs the urn from her workbench and the expression on her face looks like she just remembered something.
'By the way, Noah has returned from the West, said he was looking for you,' she tells me and a big smile creeps onto my face. Noah and I started our training around the same time, over time we got really close and became best friends.
'By the moon, why do you have to be so cute?' She says pinching my cheek.
'Thank you for telling me Elvira, I'll talk to you later,' I tell her and she smiles.
Elvira is an older woman who has been a priestess for quite a while. She is a sweet and confident woman who uses her charm and appearance to her advantage. She is like the sweet yet cocky aunt of the family. I look around me and notice that I have no clue where I am. Me walking around absentmindedly, being bad with directions and on top of that, the halls all looking the same has made me lost.
'Where even am I?' I frustratedly say out loud and hear someone giggle from behind me. I turn around and see Dena walking in my direction. Dena is an older woman who has recently joined the church. None to whom I've talked to know much about her past, not that that matters to the church. In the church of the moon ones background matters not, only their accomplishments in the name of the moon are taken into consideration.
'Lost again Yinu?' Dena asks, raising her voice just enough for any possible members around us to hear. Trying to embarrass me.
'Maybe we should hang up some signs for you?' She adds jokingly.
'Very funny Dena,' I reply not amused.
'You should really learn how to take a jo-' before she can finish her sentence the doors behind us fly open and Noah sticks his head out. Even absentmindedly I still managed to make my way over to his room. Noah sees me standing and runs towards me hugging me like he's trying to squish me.
'I thought I heard your name and I just couldn't contain myself,' he says.
'Bye Dena,' he says to Dena and pulls me with him into his room and closes the doors behind us.
'So Noah, how was it?' I ask planting myself in his chair and he holds up his nose.
'You know I'm not allowed to tell? Right?' Noah tells me very seriously. I roll my eyes in response.
'Well, it was kind of boring honestly. As you know I was sent to help with the aftermath and to investigate if any demons were involved or still lurking around. But when I arrived it was like nothing had happened. Everyone in the kingdom was really nice and didn't seem too bothered by it. I mean there were occasional whispers going around,' he starts and sits down on the chair across from mine. 'Even when I met the king, he explained everything calmly and was very open about everything. He was so nice I don’t even know how one person can do it. Also, you must have heard about the angels that were involved, right?' Noah continues.
'Of course, how could I not know?' I reply.
'Well, as it turns out one of them stayed there and acts like he's constantly glued to the king. But he's also very shy. But as it turns out angels are masters in purging dark spirits and bringing them to the afterlife. Making it so there weren't any demons around not even the smallest ones. So, I couldn't make any offers to the moon,' he adds.
'That's weird Larimar never told me about an angel that stuck around?' I think and look back to Noah to see him looking at me, puzzled.
'Who is Larimar?' He questions and I raise an eyebrow.
'Did I say that out loud?' I ask and Noah nods.
'Well, Larimar is a friend of my dad’s, who is staying over since he is trying to fix a small problem we're having,' I reply and Noah let's out a deep sigh.
'I know you longer than today Yinu. when you say a small problem, it is never a small problem.'
'Okay, it is the tree of rinse that is poisoned,' I tell Noah who immediately jumps up from his chair.
'It is what?' He exclaims.
'Calm down, Larimar is helping us cure it. He's a very capable sorcerer and he was even involved with the things that went down in Sequboux,' I explain and Noah pouts his lips and walks to a suitcase that he has yet to unpack.
'Well, I got a couple of gifts from the king. Including a jar of dragon saliva. The moon knows what went down for a dragon to be involved. But you should be able to mix it with rose quartz dust, fairy wings and acorns from the god tree to make a strong cleansing mulch,' he explains grabbing a jar from his suitcase. He grabs a small empty vile from his belt. He always has vials with him to collect herbs and other ingredients.
'You always were better than me with potions, poisons and concoctions,' I say to him and he laughs.
'Well one of us has more knowledge about spells, rituals and can call upon the ancient ones,' he tells me while effortlessly bringing the dragon saliva over into the vile. Not spilling anything.
'Here you go,' he says handing me the vile and I look at it in disgust. ‘Since when are you afraid to get dirty?’ Noah asks me with a smile and I groan taking the vile from his hands. ‘Oh before you go, I have one more gift for you,’ Noah tells me walking back to the suitcase. ‘I know that you like your traditional clothing, but I saw this and just had to give it to you,’ from his bag he lifts a ruffled pitch-black blouse. I walk over and he hands me the blouse, the material is so smooth, unlike anything I’ve ever touched.
‘Thank you very much, I’ll wear it with pride,’ I reply and Noah smiles.
‘We’ll catch up later, first go and fix that tiny problem of yours,’ Noah tells me and opens a portal behind me, he pushes me, causing me to lose balance and I fall into the portal.
I pop out on the other side of the portal, landing in the front garden of the castle. Noah likes to open his portal quite a ways above the ground but since I didn’t have the balance to change my position I fall straight onto my ass.
‘Holy moon, that hurts,’ I cry out, placing my hand on my lower back. I slowly stand up while caressing my lower back. I hear someone clearing his throat from behind me and turn around to see a confused postman standing behind me. ‘Prince Yinu, would you mind if I handed the letters to you?’ he asks politely, not addressing what just unfolded in front of him.
‘Of course, I don’t mind,’ I reply and he hands them over, thanking me and bowing quickly before walking away. ‘Have a nice day,’ I say before turning around and walking to the main entrance. I browse through the mail, picking out all the letters addressed to me, all of them being big red envelopes, meaning marriage proposals. Just so I can rip them up later without my parents knowing they ever arrived. All the other mail I sort by who they are addressed to and hand them over to a servant. Who will take care of delivering them? But I notice that there is one addressed for my oldest sister, Maieing.
‘I’ll deliver this one,’ I say grabbing it from the stack I just handed to the servant. It’s from her husband, so the delivery has to make haste. I fold the envelope in half and toss it in the air. The envelope starts to fly like a bird off to wherever my sister is located.
