It was bright in the room. The reason behind that wasn't only the sun shining through the blue curtains over the window, but also because of the fact that owner of the room had a body made of pure light. Young man was asleep, covered with white quilt in navy, flying butterflies pattern. His hair fell over his almost perfect face. He looked calm. So, why would anyone want to wake him up?
Yes. A man older than him, but very much like him, burst into his room. He was slim and rather tall, more than 5'8" tall for sure.
"Fumiru, wake up, it's breakfast time" he said and left the room, using his shapely legs.
Fumiru opened his deep as a well eyes, streched and yawned. He uncovered the quilt and swung his legs lazily off the bed. He stood up and, using his wings as dressing-gown, which he's been doing since forever, and sadly sweepping a floor by his tail, went towards the closet. He pulled out his shirt, which immediately turned into light, and threw it over his bare torso, thanks to which the wings automatically dematerialized.
Fumiru was smaller and less slim than Eien - his older brother. But he had better trained body, which was reason why he always won with him in fraternal duels. Wardens liked fight for fun. This is probably from the pre-human times when they ruled the Ryukyu Oukaku and trained to protect it. Humans did it now. Humans who Fumiru hated.
He didn't like humans because of two reasons. First, they banished wardens from the palace and Fumiru was a descendant of the royal family. And second - fanatics of theory about The Gate, which the luminous ones protect with their existence, were killing them. Like prey.
Fumiru shook his head to ward off thoughts of humans frying over the hearth, fastened his trouser belt, slipped on his slippers, and went to the kitchen.
"Good morning" said a rather short woman with glasses, whose hair was tied back in a thick ponytail.
She smiled radiantly and set the breakfast dishes on the table.
"Have you slept well, Fumi?"
"Well, but too short" replied Fumiru, smiling back. "Is everything okay, mum?"
"Yes, it's okay" Saori, because it was woman's name, nodded and sat down at the table. "Sora should be here soon, but something disturbed him outside."
Sora was Eien's and Fumiru's father and Saori's long-term husband. They've got married just after they became adult and they've been together since forever.
And as Saori said, a tall,well-built man with hair combed behind his ears and a look that could kill, if it were possible, entered the house.
At the threshold, he assumed the form of a warden and sat down at the table.
"The fanatics came again. The king's council should do something about that" he sighed, putting salmon on his plate. "If something were to happen to anyone, I will kill them with my bare hands."
"Sora!" Saori looked at him, mad.
Sora sighed for the second time.
"Mum, relax. We're not children anymore" said Eien, smashing the rice with his chopstics. "Besides that, I seriously want to hang them."
"Everyone should just disappear" mumbled Fumiru, sipping strawberry juice. "At the same time. It would be safe."
"Boys, please" Saori shook her head. "Sora, let's make a daughter, I want to have some person at home, who won't have such murderous thoughts."
"You know, mum, I heard that women are worse psychopats" Eien waved the chopstick onto which he stuck a piece of cod. "I'm telling you, she would go with a knife to neighours and slice their throats in the middle ot the night."
"Eien!" Saori wanted to add something, but she heard knocking on the door. "Who's there at this hour?"
"Fumi, open the door" asked Sora, too busy with his breakfast.
"At first, we should take a human form" advised Fumiru, getting up from the table.
His family agreed with him, turning into humans. Everyone had black hair and so bright, sky blue eyes that they seemed almost white. With the shape of Saori's and Fumiru's eyes, which were still beautiful even in wardens' form, it made an amazing effect.
Fumiru opened the door and saw his cousin - Sanoi. He stood there with a despair painted on his face.
"Grandma is dead" he said.
Fumiru froze.
Aunt Akari, Saori's mother's sister, got pregnant at young age. Her husband was killed by fanatics. She gave birth to son and named him Wataru. The boy was just evil. Even though everyone, including the late grandmother and grandfather of Eien and Fumiru on the mother's side, doubled and troubled, they could not bring him back to light.
One intoxicating night he met his future wife - Momo. Momo wanted his family's gold, so she married him. She was also pregnant. But one thing was good - Wataru changed for her. He even found his first job!
After eight months Takerou was born. One year later Sanoi was born, and three years later - Hiroaki. The youngest of children, Kayakyo, appeared in the family just before Wataru was fired and Momo, who ran away with most of the money, was lost.
And then Wataru's children's nightmare began. He became an alcoholic and started mentally and physically abusing his sons. Sanoi was defending his brothers, even though Takerou was the oldest. It was him who took most of the punches and he finally paid his father back when he raised his hand to Kayakyo. His beloved little sister, a little girl, whom he couldn't just allow to hurt.
Sanoi ran off to Sora and Saori. He explained what is happening in his home, because nobody knew about it. He was only eleven when this nightmare started two years earlier. They called him a family hero, Akari took children to her house and Wataru vanished without a trace.
Momo never showed affection to the children. So Akari has always been the real mother for her grandchildren. But then she fell terminally ill and her time was up today, as it seems.
"Charlatans told..." started Fumiru, but Sanoi cut his sentence.
"Charlatans aren't the one who made a mistake" he said. "Humans are. Because they killed her."
Fumiru froze again. He was ninety-four years old and Sanoi standing in front of him had just turned seventy-eight - but he had never felt such a rage. Until now.
