As we all sat down at our table to join Jaxon and his family my heart began to race more than it was when we walked in here.
He was turning eighteen today which was an amazing thing because we were finally going to tell our parents that we are a couple.
How they were going to react was beyond me because I feel like their reactions aren’t going to be what we expect at all.
I mean I have been twenty one with an underage guy so I know it is going to look wrong in their eyes but we have truly fell in love with each other and we didn’t care about the repercussions.
We were ready to stop hiding though, we were ready to come out to them so we could finally be together with ease and no more stress. And honestly that isn’t even why I am totally nervous right now at all.
“I can’t believe my little boy isn’t so little anymore.” His mom said as she put a hand on Jaxons back. She wasn’t so wrong about that either. He has grown so much to the point that he almost reached me in height.
His facial features have matured so much and his voice had gotten just a little bit deeper that instantly made me love him that much more.
“Mom, please stop.” He rolled his eyes and then looked over at me and gave me a tiny smirk. He can not be giving me this look while we are at the table with our folks.
Now is definitely not the time for this one bit.
I quickly took my eyes away from him and decided that the wall across the room was a lot more entertaining at the moment.
“Well what I can’t believe is that Elliot still chooses to go and hang out with Jaxon on the weekends instead of his friends.” My mom said as she elbowed me lightly.
Not going to lie, I feel like she knows something because she is always saying little sly things like that.
“I hang out with Shepley still, I just enjoy Jaxons company more than most people out there.” I said as I looked right at him. He gave me a soft smile and then sighed.
I could tell he was a bit nervous as well about this but he had no idea what I had in mind for him.
I put my hand close to my pocket and felt for the box that was sitting in it.
Yes, I was going to propose to him tonight and this is why I am beyond nervous about this. I didn’t have any doubt that he was going to say yes but I didn’t know how his parents were going to act.
Our parents started to talk to each other so I took this opportunity to look at the guy in front of me. When we first started this relationship I never thought we would have gotten to this point.
He was perfect in every way and I loved him more than words could describe. He meant so much to me.
“Elliot?” My dad said, taking my attention away from Jaxon.
“What?”
“You said earlier that you had a gift for Jaxon?” Oh man we are already at that point? I thought I was going to have time to figure this out and get my nerve up. I guess not, Jeeze.
Jaxon and I made some serious eye contact because we both knew what was about to be said, I can’t wait to see his face when I ask him this question though.
“Is everyone ready to order?” Right as I was about to start talking our waitress walked up distracting everyone from me. She was truly a life saver.
This gave me time to really think about what I wanted to say and how I was going to say it.
Our parents continued their conversations as we waited for food so I wanted to take this moment to go to the restroom and possibly have Jaxon join me. I knew that I couldn’t just come out with it so I did the next easiest thing.
‘Meet me in the bathroom? I miss you.’ I seen Jaxon jump from the vibration of his phone which made me smile. He looked at it and then looked at me with a smile.
‘You go first and then I will come after.’ I nodded and then put my phone away.
I took a deep breath as I removed the napkin out of my lap and started to get up. “I’ll be right back you guys, the restroom is calling my name.” I excused myself from the table and then started for the restroom.
When I walked into the bathroom I went straight to the mirror to look at myself. I honestly can not believe I am going to ask him to marry me. I never thought that I would ever have the courage to do this.
The bathroom door opened and there he was, he walked over to me and looked at me through the mirror.
“You requested me?” Is he being for real right now? I chuckled at him before turning towards him completely.
“Yes. I can’t stand it any longer, just sitting there and not being able to have you the way that I want to.” He walked over to me and put his arms around my shoulders.
“Just a little longer, regardless of what they say you and I are going to be together. There is nothing they can say that will break us apart.” His words were so reassuring and they sort of made me feel a bit better.
I wrapped my arms around his waist and pulled him closer to me. Having him in my arms felt so perfect. This was everything that I wanted.
“It’s going to be you and I for a very long time Jax.” His cheeks flushed a pretty red tint. I connected my lips to his and kept them there for a moment.
When I pulled away from him I knew right then and there that I was ready to tell the world about us. All my nervousness was gone all because of him.
“I think I should head back. After dinner I am giving you your birthday gift.” He smiled and then kissed me one more time before I walked out of the bathroom and headed for our table.
As everyone was eating all I could think about was our future together. I honestly couldn’t have been more excited to see where we were heading together.
Once we were all done eating I knew that it was time to give him my gift. Both of Jaxons parents gave him their gifts which meant it was my turn.
“So this is actually a gift that I have been wanting to give to you Jaxon for a long time but I was wanting to wait until it was the right time.” His parents were smiling at my words but Jaxons eyes were going wide.
I wonder if he knew where I was going with this.
“I’m not exactly sure how all of you guys are going to act about it, but I think it was about time everyone knew.” I took a deep breath as I removed the box out of my pocket and stood up.
I walked over to Jaxon and before I took a knee I smiled at him and slowly went down. His face had pure shock on it and his parents’ smiles were now gone and looked confused.
“Jaxon Schneider I don’t even know where to begin with you. It has been a ride and I have loved every moment of it. You have become something so special to me and I don’t ever want to let you go.
“So with that being said. Jaxon, will you marry me?” I opened the box and revealed the silver band in it. His mouth opened a little bit and I could see the tears in his eyes.
A smile started forming on his face and he began nodding his head. “Yes! Yes Elliot!” He got out of his chair so I stood up and put the ring on his finger. He wrapped his arms around me and connected his lips in front of mine.
I can’t believe he just kissed me in front of everyone.
“I knew it! You owe me fifty bucks!” My mom said to my dad, which caused me to break away from Jaxon.
My parents looked extremely happy, maybe not my dad so much since he apparently lost a bet but Jaxons parents were pretty hard to read.
“Mom? Dad?” Jaxon said as he trie to get their attention. His mom looked at him with tears in her eyes and then smiled at him.
“My baby is getting married!” She stood up and hugged him as tight as she could. His dad shook my hand and then gave me hug.
This went much better than expected. I can not believe that this is happening.
Jaxon brought all of his attention back to me and grabbed my hands.
“I love you so much Elliot.” I put one hand on his cheek and pulled his face just a little closer to me.
“And I love you Jaxon. Happy birthday.”
