Perspective of Alphazeta
We were once one being called Alphazeta. We were born at the same time, one body and two minds. Opposites in the same body, there were times we agreed, and times we couldn’t decide, and times we couldn’t handle everything. This is because of my brother, Alphazulu.
Nobody believes he exists, but I know he does. He hides inside me and doesn’t often come out, but he sees and feels all the same things I do. Nobody liked Zulu, so eventually they get rid of us both. The adults that take care of us think Zulu is something I made up. It makes me angry, so Zulu said we should run away.
None of them really care about us, and all I care about is protecting Zulu. We knew we weren’t better off on our own, but we also knew that if we stayed that one of us would be killed. Zulu knew the thought made me absolutely livid. Not long after we left, Zulu started whispering inside me.
“We are like the god with two faces, two wholes in one. We will be ok as long as we’re together.”
So we wandered deeper into the woods, together.
