Ayame Kessho: The Legend of Crystal Iris

Chapter VIII: Friendzone

Chapter VIII: Friendzone

Mar 04, 2021

Arase was young, tall, strong drow. He wore glasses because his green eyes couldn't see very well. His black hair was always messy, every hair in a different direction was the norm. His mother had died some time before, but he had never been close to her, so he accepted his father's new partner quickly. Generally, his life was quite happy, maybe not full of luxuries and only pleasant events, but he didn't complain. He had the best friend - a chimera named Riina and some good friends, who also lived in Midomori.

But one thing disturbed him and kept him awake at night. And it was a woman.

Yes, a woman. Not Riina, because she was only his friend. Best friend, but still. Another woman named Chou. Chou was a beautiful pixie. She had blue eyes and black hair like all pixies. She was short, even shorter than other pixies. But there was a little problem - she didn't love him. She treated him like a friend and trusted him so much that she told him about her girlfriend, En.

En was an elf. She had blonde hair and two-colored eyes, because her left eye was gray and right was green. And Arase knew that as a drow he can't even compare with her.

Mentioned earlier Riina visited him, when he was packing his things to big, brown bag.

"What are you doing, Arase?" she asked.

Riina had ginger hair and green eyes. It wasn't uncommon combination among chimeras. They also had tendency to gain weight and have poor eyesight. Both of these disadvantages also affected Riina. She was chubby and the glasses on her nose said everything about condition of her eyesight.

"I'm gonna go" replied Arase.

"Where?"

"I want to find Ayame Kessho" explained Arase.

"I would ask you what for, but I know that you can't tell me, because a dream won't come true" Riina sighed. "Can I go with you?"

"I don't need a woman's help" said Arase.

"Arase!"

"I just don't want to see you in trouble" Arase patted Riina's head.

"But you would take Chou with you" noticed Riina.

Chou was her friend. Their mutual friend. And a pixie knew that Arase loves her. But she couldn't force herself to fall in love with someone. It was enough that one shadow dragon once tried to brainwash her in such way.

"I'll go alone" Arase smiled a little. "Seriously, I will be okay."

"You promise?"

"I promise."

Riina sighed and came back home. Arase went upstairs and ended packing his bag.

He didn't know, where he should go. Nobody knows it. But he knew that he feels it... Subconsciously. Some feel Ayame Kessho more or less. Humans, for example, can't do it at all.

His plan was easy. Using Ayame Kessho to make Chou and En break up. And then, she would be with him. They would adopt some children and be happy. And En? She can finds some elf and make with him a new generation of bossy and elves' brats theating everyone like garbage.

Elves treated drows like the worst crap, who lived in Midomori. Well, besides fallens and werewolves. They hated them even more than drows. Although the fallens not that much...

After all, when it comes to fallens, only the elves usually didn't like them. But everyone had a grudge against the werewolves. This was because it could have been Sasaki or his brother, who had no power issues and it could also have been Shokai, who ... Let's say that he had done something he shouldn't have done a few times.

Arase sighed and went to sleep. When he woke up in the morning, he took his bag and opened the doors. And then he saw someone, who he both di expected there and didn't.

"So, are we going or not?" asked Riina, holding a bunny-shaped bag and smiling radiantly.

Well... This chimera didn't understand a word "no" since forever...

Riina is both the comic element of this story, but also something like the voice of reason. You'll see.
