I sat looking at the clear skies, I was seven now and was considered very rowdy among adults, while I did act mature, she acted nothing as a young girl should. I almost got into fights with everyone who bothered me or bullied me. My room is always cluttered with clothes on the floor and trash on the desks. I never kept my hair so it was always quite wild and messy. I sat back in her bed with a loud groan irritated with my lack of freedom to go into the forest. "this is sooo boring I wanna go outside. dumb weak body, I hate it all!" I had been doing exercises in my room since the age of five but had no way to tell how strong I had truly become
In BSF even the NPCs had "statuses." "Status" was a screen of information that told you what your race is, how strong you are, what you're equipping, and much more. technology had advanced where the AI learned and got strong on their own making the world ever more exciting, but here it doesn't seem that way, I decided to console my mother, Elizabeth about the "status and my mother looked at me as if I was deranged. 'if only I had a status..." I thought to myself. Then, in my face popped a blue screen containing information.
Jane Wellington
lv: 2 (50/200)
hp: 90/90
mp: 60/60
Strength: 9 +
Intelligence: 5 +
Agility: 10 +
Dexterity: 10 +
Endurance:12 +
2 attribute points available
Skills: (mid class cooking) lv 9 (passive), gluttony lv 1(passive), (low class) trap expertise (passive) lv 6
My face lit up as I quickly rose and danced with absolute joy tripping over a pile of used clothes 'thump!' I was now laying on my back facing the status screen laughing. "Oh my gosh! yes! My stats are way higher than the game's starting levels for this race. Does exercise give more points but less exp? I guess that's why my level is still so low even after two years." I looked over every one of my stats, then looked at my skills "mid-level? that's right there were different classes, every time you hit level ten it ranked up, does that mean my previous knowledge carried over here?" Most people in the world of BSF normally had a low-ranked cooking skill, it takes some time to get to the middle class and if you did rank up your food would be known as better than most good restaurants if not on par with four-star restaurants you would find in real life. I then looked at her trap skill. "Oooh, this would be useful!" In my previous life as Jackson while playing BSF she set traps for other players and monsters higher level than him to quickly take care of them and used that knowledge when hunting with his uncle and it actually worked on animals with low intelligence.
"Jane!? Honey, are you ok?!" Mom yelled to me from downstairs in a concerned tone. "I'm alright ma!" I replied before looking back at my 'status' staring at 'gluttony.' "This is that one skill we start with... it gets better the higher quality of the food we cook it at but, it's honestly otherwise useless." Standing from my sitting position I did some morning stretches. "No use complaining now I guess ill figure out all of this later." Going downstairs I saw my mother and father sitting at the table reading. My father was usually a well-dressed man at home but often came back covered in mud and barn stench that I can smell before he even gets in the house. My mom was a housewife, she cared for me and dad when he's home and dressed comfortably. Then I decided to try something. After focusing I managed to pull up his status and my mothers status, their stats were above mine but not too far off, their skills were slightly different with mother at (low-class) cooking lv 8 (passive) and my father having the skill (high class) farming (passive) lv 2 And both of them also having the gluttony skill, There's one more thing I forgot to mention the food you eat has to be your kill and you must eat within three hours before gluttony won't work. Honestly, the skill is horrible.
"Hey, jane we've been thinking and decided you can go around the village on your own now." The moment those words left his mouth I was utterly ecstatic! "You mean it?! I asked energetically I've been waiting to go outside for so long! "yes but you cannot go outside the village walls!" My mother strictly said. This meant I would have to sneak outside whenever I could. 'That's fine I'll try to figure out how I could use this trap skill while I explore the forest.' As I thought to myself my father stood up. "I'm going to the farm." He said before kissing my mother on the lips then kissing my cheek. He then left as we waved him goodbye. "ma is it ok if I go now?" I asked excitedly "sure but be back before lunch." She replied, I hurriedly rushed upstairs to put on shoes and ran outside. While exploring I noticed multiple different vendors and small farms in the distance and I also found a special point behind a building with old boxes and rope which I could use to climb up the wall "hehe infiltration point acquired" I then proceeded to climb over the boxes and throw some rope on the other side to climb back in whenever I wanted. After taking a deep breath I scaled down and took my very first steps out of the village. A blue square popped up in front of me.
New Quest!: Slay at least 3 monsters in a week
Rewards: x1 Uncommon shortsword, X1 ring of physical enhancements, 400 exp, 90 silver
"Oooh! there are quests too!" I jumped up and down in excitement seeing the quest before realizing how silly I seemed. "Ahem. anyways kill three monsters? Isn't that a little hard? I looked around for a while and spotted a group of three Dark-Hogs. "Ugh those things
Dark-Hog:
lv: 15
hp: 350/350
mp: 120/120
Strength: 35
Intelligence: 5
Agility: 15
Dexterity: 5
Endurance: 10
Skills: Charge lv5, Empower lv 5, Dark enhancer lv 2
I looked at the details of the skills.
Charge: after running forward for 5 seconds +10 to agility but it stops you from moving in any direction.
Empower: +20 to strength every 5 seconds for 25 seconds. 30 mana cost
Dark enhancer: create dark extensions on your feet hands, horns, or teeth doing +5 damage and 2 seconds of blindness 10 mana cost +5 dmg in the dark
Before they noticed, I hid behind a tree "Man if those things jumped me I'm done for! I need to use my trap skill."
Trap expertise: makes a trap planning 20% faster and can make a trap instantly as long as you have an idea of the trap and mana cost based on the size or elaborateness, and materials at hand
"I can use this" I travel back inside the village and look around the building and find an old shovel and another rope and come back to a hill with a sudden drop and I place down the tools and focused and closed my eyes, before trying to use the spell-like inside the game. '-85 mana.' I felt the magic leave from my body it's quite a dizzying feeling. when I opened them I got the trap I envisioned, after the little cliff drop on the hill there was a far from with the remains of the shovel as spikes and the rope to swing over the drop and a tunnel leading to the bottom. "I DID IT! oh!" Quickly, I covered my mouth hopingly not have attracted any nearby creatures
Janes trap:
Every monster that falls within this trap and is killed gives exp to Jane.
"Let's do this!" I said energized. I found the same herd and threw a rock at one of them from afar they looked over at me taunting them "catch me if you can dumb livestock!" I start running with the hogs running after me. I swerved left and right through the trees using my higher dexterity to make sure their 'charge' skill couldn't proc and so they couldn't catch me. It was then a straight line to the trap and I ran as fast as I could already tired from making the trap. The charge skill for every hog then activated and they all were gaining very fast. "C'mon please make the jump!!" At the last moment, I jumped and swung across the gap using the rope attached to the branch and it broke making me fall on the floor with a 'thud!' -10 hp "ouch. gonna have to explain these scrapes and stuff to mom."
You killed a dark hog! +90 exp

The short sword and the ring both came out of thin air and into Jane's hands, she then put on the ring feeling the increase in strength.

Going into the pathway leading to the bottom, she cut up only a bit of the meat from one of the monsters to save room for lunch and started a small fire after a few minutes the meat was cooked and due to her skill it was 10% more effective, after eating she got an alert 'Learned new skill:(lesser) empower lv1 +2 strength for every five seconds for 20 seconds cost: 20 mp can be stacked 3 times and lasts for 30 seconds before resetting (time can also be stacked 3 times.) Lesser skills were a bit different from normal skills, passive skills usually have classes while active skills have lesser, normal, and higher. Lesser skills don't gain stats from leveling up and it takes 5 levels to evolve it into a normal skill rather than 10 but the way Abysmalls work as it took a lot of exp to level up skills.
"I have an active skill now, great it'll be useful if my traps fail" I went ahead and ate the other two pigs getting only 'dark enhancer.' I sighed as I read the description "(lesser) dark enhancer make small dark claws on the hands, feet, horns and sharpened dark teeth for +3 ATK with 0.5 blindness and a bonus +3 when in the dark." After finishing going through the info I decided to return home and take up the rope so no monsters could climb up. After throwing my short sword into my room through the window I came in through the front door. The moment I did, however, I heard a gasp come from my mother as she came to me. "what happened?" She asked really concerned "It's ok ma I just tripped is all." I lied in response. "You need to be more careful!" She sat me down on the couch and cleaned my scrapes. No matter what world this always stung a bit. "You should rest Janey." ugh. I hate that name. " Ok, mom will you call me down for lunch?" I asked. "Yes, I'll call you on down in a bit" After she finished I headed upstairs and laid in bed. 'As for my skill points, I'll save those for in the future, it's going to be a long road ahead. But it'll be all worth it."
