*BEEEEEEP BEEEEEP BEEEEEEEEP* The alarm clock rang at 7:30. 

“UGGGGHHHH” Lennon groaned. His body hurt. They hadn’t trained that hard in a while. However, they had a game in 6 weeks against another vampire clan and they couldn’t afford to lose. It was a matter of pride for them, they hadn’t lost a game in 7 years. 

“I don’t wanna go today,” Jake whined.

“Have you forgotten Jake? The ceremony is in 4 days. And our birthday is today. We don’t have to go to training.”

“Oh yeah,” Jake said lost in thought, “I still find it a bit weird that we are gonna have to find a mate.”

“Yeah, I mean can you imagine all the changes. I just hope that my mate is someone nice and isn’t clingy,” Lennon said while sighing. 

“LENNON!!!! JAKE!!!!! COME DOWN FOR BREAKFAST,” Melody yelled from the bottom of the staircase.

“COMING,” They yelled back.

“Come on dude, get dressed,” Lennon said thrifting through his stuff. He settled on a button down shirt and khakis. 

“Fine...fine, just toss me some clothes then,” Jake mumbled into the pillow.

…….WHACK 

“DUDE, what’s wrong with you, why did you hit me???!!” Jake yelled.

“Jake, get up in 5 minutes or else I’m gonna send my mom up.” Lennon said glaring at Jake. He then left the room and headed down.

Jake finally got up and headed down but then, “MOM????” 

“Hey honey,” His mom Teresa said.

“Hello son,” his dad Samuel said. Jake stood there gasping. I didn’t know that you two were back yet. *His parent’s are ambassadors. They travel to other clans so they are not home often. Jake stays with Lennon. Melody and Peter(the king) are like his second parents.* 

“We’re here to help you prepare for your ceremony of course. Did you really think that we would miss such an important event?” Teresa asked, looking worried at Jake.

“Hey mom, why do we even have this ceremony?” Lennon wondered.

“Well then, let me tell you about our history then,” Melody began.
